  1. I'd rather people in power not be selfish and take advantage of those not in power. Besides, no one is saying the minority should have more power than the majority. Clearly you do not understand tyranny of the majority.
  2. So the needs of the minority are irrelevant since they're not the majority? How is that right? If the majority of the people in the United States voted that homosexuals should not be allowed to marry, you'd be A-OK with that?
  3. By simply allowing the majority to exercise their will over the minority, duh. Part of the law is to prevent tyranny of the majority. But you said tyranny of the majority is just "a lame excuse against democracy."
  4. If only we lived in your fantasy world. I guess then, you'd have no problems accepting a majority ruling that enacted policy that discriminated against a minority?
  5. Right. And in just the other thread you were talking about how much work was needed to be done to ensure equal rights.
  6. In that case, I'd say it shouldn't. Though I imagine it does.
  7. In other words, you think religion is important when deciding who to vote for.
  8. Someone's religion provides indicators for what they feel about issues, both now and for the future.
  9. External video card cases!
  10. Always nice havign some T-34s do the heavy lifting for you. I played the Grand Campaign as the Germans, and it was always a pissoff going up against a T-34. Especially since they were diesel and my tanks were petrol. It wasn't uncommon for my tanks to have their engines frozen. If the game plays anything like the originals, I should probably pick it up so I can play Walsingham (he challenged me to a duel once upon a time). The Close Combat series was the first series that showed me a real-time game does not need to be a click-fest, nor does it mean that tactics no longer matter. It's also nice because things like suppression fire work (and work awesome). It's so cool having a rifle team pin down an enemy squad, as your group of scouts flank them and toss hand grenades onto their position. I remember holding the Arnhem Bridge in the second one, with nothing but paratroopers. THere was a Tiger Tank driving around the area, and the few guns that I had were all taken out. So I had a British PIAT unit sneak into a two storie building. I'd only get one shot before the Tiger pointed it's guns in my direction, so I had to make it count. Waited and waited for the Tiger to close in, and when it was 30 m out, I gave the order. Boom! One dead Tiger, and the Germans were immediately interested in a Ceasefire.
  11. That is a good point, in that at least with Silent Hunter III, you knew the Allies were going to get better and better at combating the submarine threat. The thing I am looking forward to though is the campaign, and specifically the dynamic mission updates. See a plane get shot down, and suddenly you're on pilot rescue detail. The waters are supposed to be more alive in this installment. Apparently the more success you have, the more dangerous and aggressive your missions will be. At the same time, it is a video game and I'm sure they'll continue to do things to make things challenging for the player. I have played other Pacific Theatre submarine games and they were always fun. I hope (though don't expect) the "dynamic campaign" to be truly dynamic. But at the same time, I am just one submariner, so my influence shouldn't be super significant. Just something to show that my successes and failures have some sort of an impact would be neat. Alas, I have not. Since I, or anyone else interested in the Silent Hunter series, clearly do not feel this way, all I can say is I don't care what you have to say on the subject.
  12. I thought you didn't deal in "what ifs." Besides, your answer didn't seem to imply any future misdealings either.
  13. I asked you a question about whether or not Iowa had ever placed their votes differently based on your statement about how they weren't required to vote in that way - IN IOWA, and you said that you thought you had already answered the question. Apparently how you thought you answered the question, and what the result actually was, was different. It certainly wasn't clear, because I was under the impression that they did.
  14. Did Iowa's members of the Electoral College not place their votes in line with the popular vote of the state of Iowa?
  15. Does the electoral college not typically place their votes based on the popular vote of their state?
  16. Meh, I'm not surprised that it turned into a serious discussion.
  17. And this time, you're going nuts in the Pacific! Apparently this came in under my ineffective and poorly placed RADAR. Due out in March 2007. I loved the third installment, and look forward to crushing zee Japanese! http://silenthunter4.uk.ubi.com/
  18. Fair enough. I didn't think of that. It's warming therefore it's melting!!!!11
  19. Ice caps melting = more temperature regulating water in the world = less extreme differences in temperature It's 12:50 so I might not be making any sense here. I'm also playing Eve at the moment, while working on a strategy for our breakout in floor hockey.
  20. I was simply referring to the fact that the specific heat capacity of water is twice as much when it is liquid compared to solid or gas. I wasn't really commenting about water vapour.
  21. The consider yourself lucky. I know too many people that felt Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 911 were high quality, excellent documentaries.
