  1. They clearly aren't, based on his comment. If they were, the fact that you can severely cripple your build in Dragon Age wouldn't be possible.
  2. I'd like to go and see Europe and take in all of the history. Unfortunately there's no way for me to get to Europe and see and do all the things that I would like to do because it's too expensive. I don't think it's a valid point to be upset about pricing. The people that design and publish a game are more than within their right to charge whatever they please for it, because there are a plethora of other forms of entertainment one can take part in. It's not like anyone is being denied some entertainment in their spare time because of this pricing mechanism.
  3. No, it means the commentary about .357 magnums is neither here nor there. I know it's just Wikipedia, but if .357s were a common load out of Navy SEALs, my guess is someone would have mentioned it.
  4. I've played WoW which is apparently king of these actions. First you need to get someone interested in bothering you, which rarely seemed to be an issue for me. However, I've never had a hard time ignore them. If you don't think it's worth it, then don't pay for it. It's as simple as that. It's something different, and quite frankly, no one knows if it's going to work. The naysayers questioned WoW's ability to play through the game solo style, but hey...given the millions of subscribers, seems like that's what people wanted. The thing about WoW is it took people that didn't play MMOs before, and made them play MMOs. SWTOR could do the same for a different group of people that don't typically play MMOs.
  5. In WoW, I dont see you able to fire critical strikes or power attacks or flurries at enemies, which is why it kicks ass. Haha, you're going to pick the specific skill? In WoW there's not shortage of power attacks and flurries. They just aren't called "power attack" or "flurry." Did you actually play WoW? As a rogue I use Mutilate, which is a powerful double attack with both weapons that lets me build up combo points, so that I can use those combo points to unleash very powerful single attacks. In WoW the combat choice is not just "attack." I am starting to doubt you even played the game. Given how woefully incorrect you were about a ton of the Star Wars MMO stuff, I honestly think you just like to make **** up.
  6. Unlikely. I bet Jerry Miculek could fire those pistols fire than almost anybody else in the world. You'll notice in that link I sent by the way, that the sidearms of the special forces units were listed. If anyone is choosing to use a .357 magnum, it's not standard issue. And they probably don't choose to use it all the time, but only in a specific circumstance.
  7. Lets be honest now, if you got suddenly attacked at close range, the chances of you pulling out any weapon and effectively firing it is pretty ****ty.
  8. Guess we're lucky you aren't a dev. Indeed. Maybe he should stick to FPS like Half Life, for example; there are only two short cutscenes (one at the end and one at the beginning). I remember some very annoying cutscenes in Half-Life 2. Most of them useless. I think the point was that you were always in character in Half-Life 2.
  9. The founder referrals aren't working either.
  10. I do like the story driven instances. Just helped Strider do some stuff
  11. As someone that has been hired by video game companies to implement intrusive draconian DRMs, I have to agree that I'm not sure how this will fight piracy. I think running AllanROM will be more effective!!!
  12. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you probably only have one voice (the bounty hunter I believe was the PC in that case), which is a bit of a drag. Though I am guessing it's different voices for classes (sounded like the Sith was different than the Bounty Hunter). But, at the same time, it didn't affect me in Mass Effect or Deus Ex or a host of other games. I like it for its cinematic effect. I bounced through that video too at times too, so yeah it's a concern. I guess it depends on what type of streaming technology they get going. THere's nothing stopping the game from streaming that VO long before it happens if it knows you're going to bump into it in time. I'm not sure of all the intricacies of the MMO land. Especially if the game is anywhere near as big as they're claiming it will be.
  13. Here's an interesting video for voice acting that was posted earlier today. I thought it was pretty neat. http://www.swtor.com/media/trailers/video-documentary-3 It sounds like the amount of VO for this game is reaching pretty absurd levels. From the dialogue itself I think the game has a pretty KOTOR feel, but the combat is more difficult to say. Having said that, I think it's a pretty ambitious thing their doing, and I hope they pull it off with out making (m)any concessions. I'm intrigued if they are going to be as successful in the story telling aspect as they have indicated they want to be.
  14. They'd have the network hooks no doubt, but I imagine the entire process is hidden behind the scenes which would mean they'd have to create the GUIs for the entire process. Not to mention QA support for all the interfaces, the service itself, etc. It's entirely possible they don't feel all that is worth the effort.
  15. EDIT: Seems like my link from his is broken too. Looks like some technical difficulties on there part. Surely a glowing first impression haha. You should be able to get the 10 day free trial directly from the website.
  16. What!? Hahaha. It worked fine when Hurlshot sent it to me a few days ago....
  17. I no longer attend LAN parties, and always played Diablo 2 through Battle.net, so I don't really feel affected by this. I'm not sure how this combats piracy. I'd like to hear the explanation. Unless the game requires a battle.net connection in order to be played at all.
  18. Yes. I just didn't read it well. Perhaps you just read it "good."
  19. I honestly don't see the combat between KOTOR and WoW to be all that different at all. You stand there with an autoattack, and signal when you'd like to do other attacks. Unless it's the eye candy of the fake hits and dodging and whatnot that you like, but KOTOR's combat mechanics would be virtually identical to WoW's if it got rid of its turnbased nature and had cooldowns for skills. Like, what is it about KOTOR combat that you like? Saying it "kicks butt" is somewhat vague.
  20. To be honest I'm not 100% sure. You can't play a female dwarf, and that sounds fitting to the lore of the world from what I can understand.
  21. I really enjoyed this video. It talks in large part about the ridiculous amount of voice over that will exist in the game (every line of dialogue is voiced). http://www.swtor.com/media/trailers/video-documentary-3 Of the gameplay footage, I got to see a bit more of the Sith side before, so it's cool to see the stuff that plays out differently with the bounty hunter making the decisions.
  22. I wouldn't be surprised either, though from what I remember reading, I think there's a fair bit of time difference between the two.
  23. It sends you an invitation to start a 10 day free trial account. If you end up purchasing the full version of the game with that account, the recruiter gets 30 free days as a thank you.
