Same stance moves again and again?
Archaven replied to Archaven's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
I read the latest preview posted by funcrocs: http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/rpg/dungeonsie...p;mode=previews In the previews, it was mentioned that players could still control up to 4 heroes. I'm not entirely sure how it would end up playing in single player. My guesses are players could only control ANY one character at a time and would be able to switch to any character anytime and the rest are controlled by AI. If that is the case, i will not be particular happy as i tend to play alot of single-player. AI are mostly dumb. They won't be effective when you are not manually controlling them and if they are too good it makes the player character useless. I like a little more teaser on how this will be managed. I would still prefer a one party character but that will not be a Dungeon Siege game anymore since it has always been a party-based hack and slash action RPG. Also, i like to know how many total characters can we choose from? A total of 5 would be my best preference. Do we have a dual-wielding rogue character? A sword and shield paladin? Guess that would be Lucas. -

Not to slam the demo-er - I believe it was their first time playing - but the variety is absolutely there, you just gotta use it As you get more familiar with the stances and special abilities you will want to mix them up more. Plus the abilities can all be customized so there's a lot of nerdly RPG variety on top of the standard Action-ey stuff. Thanks! That addressed alot of my concerns. Anyhow Dungeon Siege used to be a party hack and slash action RPG. Is DS3 a single player hack and slash action RPG with co-op multiplayer? I agree it will be very tough to make party-based hack and slash action RPG especially without a pause and command queue feature. Makes a huge sense to make it single player with co-op multiplayer. However, not sure many like that idea. But i have no problems with it though. -
Hi.. I saw some videos of DS3 and i saw mostly Lucas i repeating the same 3-move combo repetitively. Can we have upgraded moves and more variety and different skills to play with? One thing i hate about Sacred 2 is the repetitive moves again and again throughout the game.. it's so boring. I like to play with lots of different types of skills and moves so that some moves and skills are good against different types of enemies. I also like upgradeable stances/moves/skills through skill tiers so that it's rewarding and the game won't be boring that you will be looking at the same moves over and over again throughout so many difficulties of the game. Thanks for reading!

I found it a big hassle in Sacred 2 that i always need to press the 'Q' button to collect items in a circle and those loots that dropped on the ground are not easily seen. Can we have a auto loot collection where loot will be automatically collected once items are dropped on the ground? Also it can be customized that it collects only certain level quality.. for example you have few levels of color coding loot depends on their rarity (white, green, blue, yellow, purple, orange). Have options that: 1) Collect everything 2) Collect white quality items and above 3) Collect green/blue/yellow/purple quality items and above Also apart from having the auto loot options, we can have the conventional loot key 'Q' that collects all items on the ground for the whole screen. Are they in? Thanks

Good find Sannom! -
The animation especially sprinting/walking does not look natural on the surface. The background looks nice!. Things to improve on: 1. Sprinting/walking vs the background tileset. It needs to be natural. 2. Facial animation especially the teeth. Doesn't look natural. Can improve on that. 3. UI. Backgrounds looks beautiful and real but UI looks cartoony. 4. Inventory UI. I like a body/skeleton representation of the item equipped than the scrolling. But i like the comparison UI on the equipped and selected. Nice! These are the things i like to see improve at the moment.

Rise of the Argonauts? Wow i seriously hope DS3 is not like that game. Hmm more i read more i'm having doubts bout DS3. I will certainly wait for a demo first.

kind sir.. can i see a 3D representation of how the concept art of the creature looks? -
The game is an action hack and slash.. Unless really done well and linear, it's not really recommended in DS3.
-
A big NO. Action hack n slash with romance? Unless there's alot of dialogues in DS3 which is not a Dungeon Siege game at all then.
-
anyway i'm not gonna comment further. hopefully there's a demo to try out before i decide to buy. thanks though.

apart from gameplay and storyline i believe you guys would be able to do a great job. i'm just being honest the graphics really looks dated. i really do hope what i'm looking are low resolution pre alpha screenshots. do let me know if it's true. thanks
-
sorry to be in the minority... i don't know what kind of screenshots you guys are looking at but honestly the textures are really bad. are there anyway to add high res textures to the game if you have a better rig and graphics card? i know gameplays is the main criteria but please spare those who likes to look at pretty things. honestly, even sacred 2 with elite texture packs looks 100 times better.

Dungeon Siege 3 at New York Comic Con
Archaven replied to funcroc's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
After looking at the demo.. there are few things i don't like: 1) The character running/walking animation does not scale accordingly to the floor. Seems not natural when the characters are running/walking. 2) I dislike the slash sound of the guardian sword.. I agree that's what it should sound for a sword .. but i'm not sure.. change it or add more effects to it!.. explosion sound, etc. 3) In the demo.. seems to me those monsters were waiting for the player characters to kill them one at the time.. Only the skeleton mage casts some spells. That's all. -
Hi all. Seems like the forum is a little quiet. Really not that much fans for Dungeon Siege series? Or.. are many deterred and Obsidian made a bad reputation for themselves due to Alpha Protocol? Anyway.. i'm not sure if this has been discussed or talked about so i'm not sure how's the character skills/powers/abilities being handled in DS3. Are they going for a mana based system? Or how how bout a cooldown system? I definitely hope it will be NOT like D&D that based on number of castings per day. I like to see a cooldown system but i don't want it like Sacred because you are limited by basically casting/spamming 1 or 2 combat arts for entire game and all difficulties for same character. I would like to play with ALOT of skills/abilities/powers and i leave it up to developer's creativity to balance it out. Here's my idea: 1. Each skill/ability/power has cooldown. And these skill/ability/power must be nice to see and satisfying to unleash wreaking havoc causing blood explosion all around ya 2. Depend on the skill or ability, some can be tweaked so that it is spammable and some has long cooldown like 30secs or 60secs so making it hard to be spammed and force players to use it strategically and tactically during a said battle. 3. I would like to suggest a combo feature where players could combine different skills/abilities/powers into one combo. Hence when a combo was selected, the player could basically chain multiple moves for eg. iron palm, shattering blow, critical strike unleashing them one after another on each Right-Clicked. 4. Spells should use a Mana system or could use the same cooldown feature as above. Feel free to discuss about my ideas! Thanks for reading.

Seriously.. Bioware should license Onyx engine.. the screenshots i saw with DA2 really deterring me.. Of cos there's alot of fanboyism saying they dont care bout graphics and gameplay wins, bla bla bla, etc. For me graphics is a basis of how a game should represent and the gameplay is also equivalently important. I dont want to play a very solid game with text-based graphics?

glad to see some gameplay vids. however the slowmo is really bad... really bad impression for the game to start with. why release the video trailer if wasn't done right? the textures i saw was not really top notched. hopefully it's the video and there's in game options to enable hi-res textures. graphically it looks in the mid of realistic and cartoony. when can we expect a HD commentary gameplay trailer like the one in Diablo 3? *drool* PS. i noticed that the guardian face resemble the look of Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins in Lord of the Rings). Is this some kind of joke? lol

Thanks Nat for clearing things up. I'm still having some mixed feelings where the game was some sort of cross over between Fable and Diablo. I'm not judging further until i have a look on the gameplay videos. Overall i'm pretty impressed with the latest screenshots. Dragon Age was nothing close to that and they did well. I'm sure DS3 may do well too if quality and effort were the main focus. Thanks again.

I have played DMC4 before and to me that's more like a single player, 3rd person shooter view, action hack and slash game. I saw that DMC4 has been mentioned couple of times. So is the developer basically changing DS3 to be like the gameplay of DMC4? Maybe i have the wrong expectations that DS3 would be played like Diablo, Titan Quest, Sacred 2 top down isometric 3rd person view that you can see your player character and your party characters (since previous Dungeon Siege has been always a party based hack n slash game). You basically just left click to move or attack and right click for a special skill/talent/power. Hotkeys 1-9 can be mapped for skills/power and you can basically target(be it AOE or single target). My concern is that if i press/click/use a skill/power and it randomly (auto target nearest enemy).. then it's a dump down gameplay for me. As i said, if the gameplay of Dungeon Siege 3 is like Devil May Cry 4 then i have mistaken it for a different genre of action hack n slash rpg like Diablo/TQ/Sacred/etc. Thanks for your time.

I have read an updated impression on gamespot regarding the gameplay that was showned at Gamescom. Here's an excerpt from the impression: Honestly if the gameplay is only about me issuing attack and the player character will auto target nearest enemies without me even selecting which enemy/monster i want to hack n slash, seriously this will be a dumped down action hack n slash game. I hope i'm mistaken on what i'm reading though.

Wait a min.. Are they really screenshots? Have they been 'photo-shopped' for marketing purposes?
