  1. That is good to know for the future, thank you Aea. As for Cloudpiercer, well I want it for Sagani or Durance ... so I guess I will join the Dozens this time. ( And with a next character I will join the Knights. )
  2. That is 100% certain? Even so that most likely would mean that if people do it at the time you mentioned then you would miss out on cloudpiercer, right?
  3. When they attacked your keep did you use auto solve or did you fight the bandits yourself? ( With you companions or Solo. ) I can not remember which thread but I seem to remember that some one mentioned that using the auto solve function instead of manually dealing with the attacks ... will quit often go bad for you? Ending in having to spend lots of money again to repair your keep.
  4. Apparently every once in a while a slaver or animancer will come through and offer to buy up prisoners from you for a bit of copper. It doesn't appear to happen very often, though, so it's anyone's guess whether you'll even get a chance before your prisoner escapes. Hmm I do not like that. Hopefully OE will make some changes to that in the near future?
  5. So does this mean there is no use for prisoners once you have the prison cells ... no matter the security level?
  6. Well it is not that I do not lower one or two stats on other character types, I have a Barbarian with below default Per and also a Fighter with low Int. But I decided that I will act on that tip of Crucis and hire a mercenary Melee Rogue with a main character I like. That way I can experiment with less worries. And at the moment I do not want a main Melee Rogue char that has stats below 10. But as I mention at the beginning of this post I will hire a Melee Rogue mercenary, that way I do not have to worry so much since he/she is just hired and not my main character. I could even use some of the advice given in this thread. It will be the first time that I will hire a Mercenary/Adventurer so I have no idea what I can get, but that will become clear once I do.
  7. As a matter of fact on the Sorcerer's Place PoE forums Crucis already linked to your build. And your build lowers Con ( Although not nearly as far as Psychevore's stats suggestion. ) With a character like a Fighter or Barbarian who get a whole lot of health any way I would not have to much of a problem lowering Con to 8. But as I mentioned before Rogues get little health anyway so I do not like to lower it even more. As for taking 2 points from Res ... well the talk options from Res might be nice but I am more concerned about the Concentration? It would mean the Rogue would be more easily interrupted? And sooner or later my Melee Rogue will get hit, that can not be avoided for 100%. Now Crucis also mentioned this on the SP PoE forum ... So maybe the result is not as bad when lowering a stat 1 or 2 points, but still once I start a Melee Rogue I would not like to remove any points from stats that do not get raised. Crucis also mentioned that I could hire a Mercenary Rogue with another character I like to play with as my main, and see how that goes. Then I would have more experience with a Melee Rogue and then I could use that experience afterwards to make a main char Melee Rogue.
  8. Oh with my sentence about that I did not mean I would not be willing to give that a try, ( Heck I use a pistol with my Ranged Rogue, also not really D&D. ) I was just thinking about how surprised an enemy would look if they got backstabbed by a Rogue with Plate armour and a Greatsword ( Should they survive that is. ) ... especially when playing with an Orlan.
  9. No I do not want to min max with a Rogue. And lowering Con to that level even if I would min max with a Rogue is a very bad idea in my opinion. They do not have much health to begin with, so a Con of 3 with a Rogue is a very bad idea. ( Again in my opinion. ) A Rogue with Mig/Dex/Per/Res at 18 would certainly be a beast, but with very little health. And getting hit ( Which will happen, whether I want it or not. ) would end my Melee Rogue very quickly.
  10. Thank you Bigwillystyle. With that I personally mean with no min maxing is no stats below 10. As long as I play below Hard then using the min/max method is not needed in my opinion. As for the Deflection and endurance ... yeah that is a bit of a problem so to speak. And thank you for the list of talents and abilities. Well I do not wish to go below 10 with a Rogue. The first version of my Ranged Rogue was min maxed, but I restarted him and made a few changes that where better. Still Low Deflection and Res gives no real benefits with him but still he is better then the first version. Thanks on the MIG/DEX/INT part with or without a Cipher. THat does sound counter intuitive indeed? that would mean DEX and MIG are at default, and that would not be a good idea for a Melee Rogue? Thank you Jonnin, I will. Okay you are the second person to mention to max Per and Res, well with the Sword and Shield version? Since the rest would be at the default for whatever race I decide to take, would that not hamper the damage I could do with the Melee Rogue. ( Even with Coastal Aumaua? ) As for the second build ... well I have patch 1.05 but I guess that does not really matter in the long run. As for using a Greatsword with a Rogue ... well that would certainly surprise most Enemies.
  11. * As the Topic title mentions, I am looking for a good balanced Melee Rogue build with out min maxing. Since I do not play on hard and up ( Not so far at least. ) their is no need for min maxing in my opinion. * I have a ranged Rogue and I certainly like him, but on these forums I some times see people mention that a Melee Rogue is even more dangerous then a ranged one. Now curious as I am I would like to try and see whether that is true or not. * Now I am well aware that a Melee Rogue is not a tank, but I hope some of you know a good balanced Melee Roguee build that will not go down in 1 or 2 hits? But at the same time He/She would be able to make sure the enemy is aware how dangerous a Rogue can be up close? ( at least long enough to put the hurt on the enemy and then move out of danger some how? )
  12. /\ This is how I see it as well. Unless many different people can proof that something is a Bug, do not ask the Devs to nerf every thing that seems overpowered to you. It is a single player game and not a MMO, other players want to have fun playing as well. Other wise please use one or more of the tips Otakon17 mentioned. Instead all of those who want to have the game balanced to their liking ... you could also gather more and more people here on the forums and else where and make a case to the Devs for a good easy Tool to make mods? Then people can make their game they way they want with either mods you made yourselves or made by other like minded players like yourselves.
  13. Everybody ... on steam at least, I have no idea when it is available for GoG players.
  14. Very useful information about the wizard and Cipher, thank you AlphaMagnum. As for the AoE damage ... that is freaking huge!? Now I am definitely not doing that quest until my party is at least level 8. 1: I will. 2: Again, I will. I remember the one from the second level of the Endless path. 3: Good advice, thank you. 4: Ah so that is the reason.
  15. It certainly does, thank you Achilles. I play on normal, and with a party. I will make sure to get a few more levels first then, thank you Raven Darkholme. Well as mention just above, I play on normal, and since every one suggests to wait a few levels it is what I will do. thank you Cucis. I will remember that tip once I face the Boss, thank you Climhazzard. ( Not just for the tip but also that Monk build of yours on the steam forums. ) After seeing every one suggesting it, I will certainly gain a few more levels, thank you Kaigen42. I am putting points in Mechanics with Aloth already since he already hat a few, thank you again Achilles. Achilles, it took me a moment to remember what Mechanics check you were talking about here. But, herein lies a problem with Mechanics checks. The kind of check you're referring to here shouldn't be a mechanics check at all, but a perception check, IMO. Regardless, you are 100% correct. This is something that one absolutely does NOT want to miss. Okay thank you, now I am staying curious for a few levels. :
  16. My current party are all level 5, and consists of ... * Edér * Zezhou ( My monk character. ) * Kana * Aloth * Durance * Sagani Now I got the quest "Cinders of Faith" yesterday, and I read a bit about the quest. Considering what my party would meet in that area, would it be wise to go there with a level 5 party, or would it be better to go there at a later level?
  17. I just noticed the post date of the Beta thread Voltron linked to, that is almost two weeks? And they are still not releasing it on steam? ( And on GoG soon after for those who have that version. ) Do not miss understand me, I understand things need to be tested to get the bugs out as much as possible, but if it is still going to take quit some time then at the very least remove or edit the line "NOTE: The 1.05 beta will be released later today if our initial tests come back positive." Especially when the thread was posted almost two weeks ago. It is nitpicking I know, but still. ( I can be odd that way at times. )
  18. Ah so it is still being tested and not official yet, would explain why Steam has not updated to that patch so far. EDIT: Sorry to hear that azmodael.
  19. Apparently some of you already have the new patch? Does this mean it is finished being tested? And although it shows today as release ( If it was positive. ) is this a world wide release all at once, or will it be released on another day here in Europe for instance?
  20. Yeah but as I mentioned I picked Weapon Focus: Ruffian not Soldier. Even if I try and see if I can change that through IE Mod then I would only have two plus points from that weapon focus. Ruffian is completely useful for a Rogue, ( In my opinion that is. ) while Soldier would only make Arbalest and Arquebus useful for my Hearth Orlan Rogue. Again this is just my personal opinion, so it may not be yours or others. Sorry, I only read the first paragraph of your post. I don't want to be buttonholed into any single WF set with a rogue. It's not too big a deal for melee characters as their choices aren't usually too constricting. But with ranged specialists like ranged rogues and rangers, getting stuck with single WF set forces you to either stick with that WF set's choices or you ignore that oh-so-nice +6 accuracy bonus to use weapons outside of the WF set. Honestly, I haven't picked a WF for my rogue for this reason. It's let me switch from having her use a crossbow to an arquabus, to considering using a warbow as a secondary ranged weapon without having to feel the pain of losing a +6 WF set bonus for doing so. This is a reason why I said in another thread that I'm growing to dislike the existing WF groups as currently constituted. You do have a point there, I might try that with another ranged character in the future. Would solve the dilemma of which weapon to choose, simply use the best weapon you find and like ... nice I will remember that.
