  1. sneakattack has no range limit. onlybackstab does (and i think its 2m or so) That's an odd inconsistency.. but fair enough, a good point. What is? Only reason I've seen to have a second melee weapon so far is interrupt, and that's a really terrible reason, because there's no drawback to shooting in melee (mind you, I think there should be; from a thematic point of view, I would prefer it if you "had" to switch to melee when engaged). Stilettos have a Interrupt time of 0.35, so.. yeah. Because of the reloading time, if two or more enemies are two close to my rogue then he would take to much damage during reloading? At the next level I will pick Gunner if I can so I have no idea yet how that changes things. As for the choice of stilleto's ... I realize those are weak compared to Sabre's. The choice of using Stilleto's ( One of them being that one with that spell-strike ability from Gilded vale. ) so far has more to do with the fact that I like the Jolting spell-strike from one of the stilleto's. And it is not set that I will stick with stilleto's, so if I find a nice sabre or two then I will more then likely switch to those. ( If I can get myself to let go of that particular spell-strike ability stilleto. )
  2. But second, more importantly, for that note on your Stiletto backups, Pillars of Eternity does not have any penalty for shooting in melee, for some daft and utterly bizarre reason. So you will likely never be in a situation where you'll need to switch over to another weapon set. So my suggestion would be to carry both a Pistol and a Blunderbuss. Either to initiate with the Pistol for Backstabs and then switch to the Blunderbuss, or to initiate with the Blunderbuss (when not backstabbing) and then quickly switching to the Pistol. Or just taking two Blunderbusses (Blunderbi?) or two Pistols, and switch between them to get quick shots off at the start of combat. Switching rapidly between firearms works great in PoE, and without penalty to shooting while engaged in melee, there's no reason not to. Yeah I could eventually pick both, but because of the reload time ( Even after I pick Gunner. ) I am some what concerned with the damage my Rogue will get till the shot is ready. Still I will keep it in mind for later levels, or when I find a really good Blunderbuss. This is the reason why I have two stilleto's in the second weapon set at the moment. Thank you I will make a note on that. On the pistol vs. blunderbuss choice, by the time I got into the last third of the game, I was finding so many unique pistols and blunderbusses that I was mainly choosing based on the enchantment effects. Still, pistols probably do better in the latter part of the game due to the starting DR advantage. That is exactly why I have two stileto's in the second set. As for the last part, I will just have to wait and see. But I will go with a Pistol for now then.
  3. As the topic title already show, I am not certain what would be better for a Ranged rogue. Both the Pistol and Blunderbuss have the same range ( according to what I was able to find out that is. ) But their damage is different. The pistol has the higher damage, but that is only one bullet, and the blunderbuss seems to fire 6 bullets. Is the damage for the Blunderbuss per bullet or is it the total damage with all bullets together? ( Most likely a noob question, but I can live with that ... for now. ) Another reason why I ask is because I reached Defiance Bay and on the way there I picked Weapon Focus: Ruffian. The second weapon set are two stilleto's ( One I bought in Gilded Vale. ) just for those moments that a melee fight can not be avoided. Since both a simple Pistol and Blunderbuss cost 1500 on the market in Defiance Bay I would like to know which of the two is more effective in the hands of a Rogue. In case some one wants to know, my Rogue is a male Hearth Orlan with these attributes. Mig: 17 Con: 10 Dex: 19 Per: 13 Int: 10 Res: 9
  4. Oh god that firearms mod is ludicrous, is that the one that lets you dual weild the blunderbuss? At that point it seems like you're not even playing the same game. It allows to dual wield pistols ( In theory. ) But I am not interested in dual wielding pistols. Besides I made a backup of the files that are changed by that mod so if at any time I think it becomes ridiculous ... then I can always switch back. ( And I can only find out if it is ridiculous by trying it out. )
  5. The order is clear but could you show how much points you personally placed in all attributes? I generally go human for rp reasons and that isn't optimal, but for human it would be 19 might, 18 Dex, 19 int, including the culture bonus. Another option would be to pick aumau and go 20/might, 18 Dex, 19 int. The idea is that this is a classic "glass cannon" style build. Con drops to 3. You can drop all remaining points into either per or res but red is probably the better choice mechanically. Thanks but I already went for a Wood Elf with these stats. Mig 18 Con 3 Dex 18 Per 4 Int 19 ( Old Vailia ) Res 16 At first I wanted to go with a Hunting Bow until I found a good pistol, but with my Wood Elf The Disappointer gave a better total accuracy then the hunting bow, go figure. Still once I could add a enchantment to The Disappointer ( Accuracy, because that was what I could do at that moment. ) The difference was there, even more so due to that Fire arms mod I found on the Nexus. And a glass cannon he is, my Wood Elf has less endurance then Aloth.
  6. The order is clear but could you show how much points you personally placed in all attributes? Maximize them. 18s. Okay thanks.

  8. Yeah I almost did not pick it, but as you mention it could perhaps help in certain front line moments. No I will not go much higher then what I use right now. I might even lower it to leather or Padded armour if I find good ones. ( At least that looks like it could be beneficial for this build. )
  9. Okay in another thread I got some advice about my barbarian, and after testing yesterday I cam e up with this Female Aumaua Barbarian. I want to use her as a DPS Barbarian fighting right beside or behind Edér with a Pike and Greatsword. Now during character creation I picked Barbaric Yell, and I got Carnage and Towering Physique automatically of course. And then in game I first picked Weapon Focus Soldier and on lvl 3 Frenzy. Now I checked this page ... http://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Barbarian But even though it shows what those abilities do, I have no idea which ones are really useful ( Or a must. ) for a DPS Barbarian build. ( Okay Thick-Skinned is a dead give away that it would fit in. )
  10. Dex makes you attack faster, so you get higher dps that way. So let's say you're doing around 30 per hit, attacking about every 2.5 seconds. That's 12 dps. If you have 18 dex instead of 10, you'll attack 24% faster or 1.9 seconds between swings, giving you a dps of 15.8. Yeah I thought about it a bit more and having a faster attack and as such more damage because of high DEX is preferable over higher CON. ( Which a Barbarian gets more then enough of, as mentioned. ) Thanks Infares.
  11. LoL That is actually what I wanted to do, and the reason why I have the attributes the way they are. I read in there some where that this particular build does not really requires DEX some how. And thank you very much ... darn it now you are making me doubt about making the changes mentioned in this thread. :D
  12. As maverick said the dex lets you swing faster thus doing more damage. The dex does not improve your damage per swing. With regards to the intellect to give a fighter I think it is way more beneficial to dump it to 3. The points are better placed in max might and dex for damage per second, 8-10 in con, rest between per and res. I like to favor resolve over perception for the concentration and the dialogue options. With the addition of the wary defender modal you will gain +15 defl +10 saves which will let you tank well enough when needed while blasting out solid damage. You can always add a shield if really needed. The key aspect of the build is that you are not a wet noodle swinging punching bag, you're a sturdy damage dealer that will stand in the fray. Thank you KDubya.
  13. First I would like to apologies up front to Maverick87 for jumping in on his thread, especially as my first post here on these forums. But I would rather ask now and start over now then at a higher level. But now to KDubya ... do you mean more damage because you can attack faster? Or does it influence the damage with every hit? I have my Barbarians attribute set like this ... Would higher dex have been more beneficial? My first char was a barb. I didnt finish the game cause i found normal mode too easy and wanted to reroll a tanky dps fighter. BUT from my research and what i can tell is that: Your stats are solid enough though i would swap con with dex. Barb gets enough endurance anyway as a class. You ll have a lot anyway. And no dex doesnt influence the damage itself but as you said you attack faster. Also i would consider leaving per res at 10 as barb has allready too low of deflection, especialy when frenzied. I had them at 10 and it still felt a bit squishy. No need for apologizes hope i helped. Thank you, it will help I think. I was trying to get the build to make better use of the Fire damage from Fire-Godlike, and switching CON with Dex might help a bit in that area.
