  1. On my first blind playthrough, I reached the end at level 9, and got slaughtered by the boss.
  2. Ya, I'm with the "haters" on this one. If you don't like the game, this is the perfect place to say so and why. Unless your claims are baseless and you start spamming, I don't see a problem. Also, just because someone else has made a negative thread, doesn't mean you can't make your own if it is a separate issue.
  3. I haven't read this thread, but I just want to point out that the only reason a lot of players will come to forums is to voice their opinion about something they don't like in hopes the developers will read it and make a change. If you do like this game, don't worry about people saying they don't like this or that or that they are quitting. The game has been a massive success and it isn't going anywhere. We will get our expansions
  4. Well, you can't please everyone. You had some good suggestions (and more of everything will be coming in expansions), but your reason for quitting was surprisingly ... dumb? It's pretty easy to uncover new areas, just go to the side of the map adjacent to the place you want to go. Not sure what else you'd expect or why you'd want everything explored already. Also, unlocking areas after completing a quest is a very standard game mechanic that isn't bad design. If you listen to the developer commentary (which I recommend), they touch on that early on. They call them "Gates" and they exist for a reason, though they did their best to have as few as possibile.
  5. Try reading the thread about soloing the game on Hard/PoTD. There are some really good general tips in there that should help you out. I've recently made it to act 2 as a solo fire godlike barbarian, and I didn't even find the cloak that heals endurance when taking freeze damage. Tips: Use scrolls and traps, they can make a huge difference. Use figurines, buy all of them, they're all worth the money. Split groups. Don't just go attack a large group of enemies. If you're trying to *never* die, then this is a must for every fight. Have one of your characters get some movespeed so they can outrun anything and make them stop chasing (except for the one or two you're pulling). If you're scared of a group, cheese it anyway you can. Use doors, etc. Especially if you're trying to never die! Use food for hard encounters. Get drunk as hell for the damage reduction! I personally just quicksave after every fight, and don't mind re-loading if i die.
  6. Fire godlike barb is soooo good lol. Was able to take out the woedeca ceremony with two figurines and some defensive scrolls. Using the azurereith stiletto and switching to the lifesteal flail after jolting touch goes off.
  7. I was pretty bummed that I didn't get the cloak on my fire god barb, HOWEVER i managed to kill all the phantoms in the room at Caed Nua at level 4 with a fire trap and 1 firewave scroll. I took Scion of Flame for the burn bonus (which i needed anyway). I didn't think i'd kill them all, but I literally took them all out with the scroll after the firetrap went off. Didn't even need the Horn.
  8. Hey everyone, I've been reading the Solo Strategy thread and have done a few runs through the early game solo on hard. However, I find the gameplay too tedious to really enjoy any more. The only way to really have success solo is to cheese fights, and it's just not worth it for me. Sure I could play on easy or normal, but then it just seems kinda lame. I dunno. So I thought it might be fun to try 2 character parties, and see what fun things people here can come up with. I think a basic obvious strategy is a tank and a DPS character. Maybe a paladin and rogue/barb, or fire godlike barb tank with a ranged DPS/Support character. Anyway, nothing concrete from me yet, just wanted to start the conversation.
  9. *Sorry duplicate post, sent the first before i meant to and this is my first post so it has to get approved* Great thread! I'd like to contribute. I think I found a new way to kill the entire caravan, get all their loot, and live to tell the tale! With this trick you get 348 gold, plus an inventory worth of gear, and keep the Disappointer. Though it is a little buggy, lol. http://i.imgur.com/ujc6psw.jpg So I think the "standard" way so far has been to send calisca to kill the merchant. However, I found it better to send her after the caravan leader, while you stand at the lower left of the camp near the merchant but in the safe place in the trees. Calisca will die without killing the leader and the guards, but most of the weak caravan people will come after you. You can easily take them out with some AoE, while the caravan leader and guards will stay put at the top part of the camp. So here's where it gets a little buggy. Even though you don't have the leader's aggro, the fight wont end. You can run anywhere on the map and it wont break combat, so you still can't loot, right? Well....actually you can now go down to the bandit camp and loot the water. The water jug will still be there (even though you killed the guy before he was supposed to bring it across the river). When that happens, it starts the scripted event, and you get ambushed. When you kill those two bandits, it breaks combat! Now you can loot them, loot the beer and pistol, loot the dead guy in the lower right of the map, kill the 3 bandits between you and the camp, loot all the caravan people you killed (i think its like 20 copper each corpse!). However, you have to sneak to loot them if they died near the wagon, otherwise the caravan leader will see you and attack you (even though he's been maimed by the barbarians...he'll miraculously chase after you and kill you...and you can't attack him back). After looting, you can then sneak around the bandit leader who is now in the camp (taking credit for your kills!) so that you can loot Calisca (http://i.imgur.com/uoP00Qu.jpg). After that, there is a good place in the top right of the camp that you can get the bandits to line up single file so that you can kill them all. Then the beowic comes, and you're off! I hadn't seen this posted before, so let me know if it's old info.
