  1. I don't want to sound rude, but it doesn't matter what *You* personally never experienced. You might never have been to Nepal, but I can assure you it exists. People aren't surprised that there are bugs, but that there are bugs that outright stop/destroy the whole progress, that none of the testers found them and that some people are actively trying to deny/justify their existence.
  2. I think at the beginning of each act there is one of those fairy-tale-like voiced narrations with nice music, just like at the beginning of the game, when they introduce the setting. And it's displayed on the screen when you are choosing a savefile to load.
  3. I never presumed anything of the sort. I do not and cannot know if the most glaring bugs were known to them prior to release. All I know is that there was not enough testing, for whatever reason. If there were enough testing, they would have found the bugs and fixed them beforehand. Some bugs will of course be marked as "known shippable", but not the ones that completely stop progress or ruin characters/save files. Presuming they knew about those bug and didn't fix them would be pretty insulting, in my opionion. As for the definiton of "gamebreaking": When it comes to QA, this is not subjective. If the player's progress in the game is hindered, that's a red flag and games will not get shipped if such a bug is known. Especially not, if there is another testing instance before release (e.g. if somebody wants to release on PS4, Sony will have their own QA before release and things will get delayed if such a bug is found).
  4. You're not speaking for 99% of the player base. If I weren't reading the forums, I wouldn't even be aware of the bugs. Mainly because I never double-click to assign items and I tend to run with a single quick save, so my reloading is limited. The only bug I've actually noticed during play is the cage cursor issue. Which is annoying, but hardly game breaking. If I wasnt speaking for 99%, then 1 in 100 players would have the bugs. That really doesnt seem to be the case. It doesnt even seem to be 1 in 1000 if you consider that the game sold millions of copies, hence 99.9%. How can you tell how many players actually encounter bugs? More than 1 out of 100 will at some point fight against an Ogre Druid - either during bounties or in the endless path. When they do, it is quite probable that one of these Ogres casts Swarm of Insects on your player character, thus inevitably killing them even after the fight is done, resulting in a game over screen. More than 1 out of 100 will at some point pick up a Cypher, maybe even as their player character. If they are not completely blind, they will at some point pick up one of two items which appear to be immensely useful for the Cypher, equip them and destroy their character in doing so. More than 1 out of 100 players will visit Raedrics Keep at some point and be unlucky enogh to a) get stuck in a zone that, upon leaving, will crash their game or b) for whatever reason not trigger Kolcs after killing Raedric. Morte than 1 out of 100 will accept both the quests from the dozens and the crucible knights, which will result in them not being able to attend the hearing. Yes, these bugs are known and they are being worked on, but you can't expect every customer to search through the forums and compile a list of every potential bug they have to avoid, in order not to miss out on content, cripple their character or outright kill their savegame. If you haven't experienced any of these bugs, that's cool for you, but it doesn't matter. The thing that matters is that these bugs exist, they ruin the experience for some players (the amount of which none of us can determine) and they should not have been there at release period. Downplaying the issue does not help anyone, nor does throwing around made up numbers and statistics. If everybody just shuts up about these things, how are they supposed to get fixed?
  5. You are right, of course. You can choose to walk away from the bear, but not from other situations. Also, how do you know when you actually can take on the bear? Having your own bear, as a ranger, is quite the argument to attack anyway. More importantly, this is not about the personal agenda of the op or the people "hating" him. At least it shouldn't be. This should be about the game and how to help Obsidian make it even better. Even if the op turned out to be a non-likeable person, that doesn't mean his point was invalid.
  6. PoE is a beautiful game. The background renders are so amazing that, sometimes, I just stand around looking at them for a few seconds. Sadly, the rest doesn't hold up very well in comparison. Characters and items sometimes feel awkwardly out of place to me and I find myself chosing my equipment mostly according to what looks alright, instead of picking only the most useful/powerful stuff. My PC is this wonderful black woman with brown locks, freckles and the hint of a breastplate. I managed to make an ingame model according to that avatar, but whenever I equip a hat (like one of those fancy duelist hats), my wonderful brown hair just vanishes and I turn into a cancer patient. She is wearing a cowl now. Also, try giving Durance a cowl and his beard merges with it. It's not nice to behold, let me tell you. I'm aware that this is, first and foremost, a personal issue of mine and a minor one at that, but I still feel that there could have been more emphasis on character models and items. Here are a few suggestions: - Instead of three Aumaua heads with preset colors, let us choose both parts of the skin color for each head. - Implement a "Display Helm On/Off" button, so people can benefit from the magic helm they just found without looking like a total nutjob (e.g. The monocle helm that doesn't fit onto certain models) - Make weapon glow toggleable - Let us colour every part of our armor, not just the few and preset sections. - Let us colour our weapons While I really don't like Diablo 3 as a whole, one thing they did right: Transmogryfication. For those who are not familiar with it: Once you've found a certain item, the item skin will be bound to your account and, for a small fee (of ingame currency), you can swap the skin of your current weapon with any other skin of the same item category. Again, there are many more important things to fix right now and this is not really an issue, but I just wanted to put this out there for you to consider. This is a single player game after all, and it should be possible to make our characters look exactly as we want.
  7. Go with easy. Even normal mode requires micro to a certain extent. The way you want to play the game is very simplistic and thus you should pick the easiest difficulty, imo.
  8. 1) None of them are unwinnable if you come back later when you're of the right level. I took out both Raedric (with smart positioning and use of bouncing AoE spells) and Wymund (attrition and foe AoE). 2) Why would you expect this to not be a thing? Fear the Fog of War. Fear it! 3) I took out both of those problems in one battle with no need to reload. It wasn't even all that hard. Wymund was harder. 4) There are no "wrong" answers, just different results. Sometimes you choices have consequences you don't like. That's called a good RPG. 1) You cannot come back when you play trial of iron. 2) I can expect it, but if im unlucky, I have to start the game from the beginning. 3) This is not about difficulty, but about being able to assess a situation before commiting to a fight. 4) Consequences that should be forseeable to a degree, especially if hours and hours of progress depend on them.
  9. Well, apparently none of them did, otherwise it would have been fixed, right? That is still Obsidian's problem and it is still a valid complaint. Making up statistics won't change that, either.
  10. Every Nintendo game up until 2014 (or maybe 2015) was released without patching. You can be damn sure that first party Nintendo games didn't have major gamebreaking bugs (like stats ballooning out of control if you save your game, or disappearing if you equip an item the wrong way). So much for PC Master Race. I like the game and I like Obsidian but it simply baffles my mind how such major bugs could have been shipped. I'm not one of the mouth-breathers who thinks that Obsidian should chain themselves to their workstations releasing hotfixes every 6 hours, but that doesn't mean I can't be critical of them either. This. It's a problem of the industry, but a problem nonetheless. If a game has not been tested enough and there are still critical (!) bugs which prevent progression in the main quest, then that is entirely Obsidian's fault and everybody should be complaining about it. It is neither playable nor fun when you get stuck in one of a few instances which won't allow you to progress.
  11. The spear you find in the engwithian ruins is for you. There is another item labled as "Engwithian weapon stack" (or something like that) which is the item you need in order to complete the quest.
  12. Op is being a bit harsh in his consequence, but the gereal idea is right. There are many things in this game that are simply not functional or outright gamebreaking. Showstoppers have to be rooted out before release, and that's what testers are there for. In its current state, this game would not even have been released for, let's say, Playstation 4 or any Nintendo console. Quality control in computer gaming has been an issue since forever and it's getting only worse. The fact that players get trapped inside Raedric's Keep, that Cyphers lose their ability to regain Focus after equipping a certain item (which has been specifically made for them in the first place) and certain enemy spells will kill you, no matter what (Swarm of insects) are huge showstoppers that, for some reason, weren't found. The only conclusion to that is, that there was not enough (paid) testing. None of the testers who played a cypher ever equipped the horn or the amulet? None of them ever fought ogre druids? Nobody ever got on the good side of the Crucible Knights and the Dozens, which resulted in them not being able to be invited to the hearing by any of the two? These bugs are not even exclusive to certain operating systems/peripherals/hardware. They are there because testing the game apparently wasn't a big enough focus. There is no excuse for that and, as such, the op has it right. However, people have been waiting forever for this game and thankfully the game is still very much enjoyable despite all the bugs, so people tend to not complain as much as they should. There is, however, no reason to play the existing complaints down, because they are very much valid. You cannot figure out all the bugs before release, but you have to find those that prevent people from finishing the game. It's a simple rule that many developers/publishers/third party manufacturers adhere to and Obsidian should have done the same.
  13. I am, but it sucks. Hence the suggestion. No, I won't stop, thank you very much. People are providing feedback for this game, positive and negative. If some people think that a certain feature would improve the game's overall quality then they will make a suggestion. It is at the discretion of the developing team to decide whether or not this feature is worth implementing or not. PoE is a singleplayer game, there is no competition and everybody should be able to enjoy this game in their own right. Adding an optional feature will not turn the game into something different, but provide more options for those who want to use them. Why do you think people are using mods for this game as early as one week after launch? Because there are flaws and oversights which can be easily corrected. Being a claqueur does not help improving the game, making suggestions does. Don't try to dictate how we, as customers, should voice our opinion.
  14. Thanks, I didn't know that. However, it doesn't seem to work with the weapon switch button. Is there any way to mape the primary and/or secondary weapon?
  15. Please implement it and do it fast. There is no reason I should have to activate 2-3 passive "per encounter" skills every single time when a fight starts. It has nothing to do with gameplay, but with convenience. Some skills are just not situational, so there is no reason not to be able to have them activate automatically. Apart from that, a decent customizable combat AI would open up a lot of content/play time, since it is a mini game in its own right. I honestly don't see how this is "not in line with PoE's gameplay" at all. Baldurs Gate and DA:O both had it and it worked just fine. Yes those are different games, but not fundamentally. Also, it would be inherently optional, so it doesn't affect those who don't wat to use it. It's a no-brainer, really.
  16. Dude has a point indeed. There are situations in PoE that will kill you and which are impossible to predict: - Scripted battles that turn out to be too hard - Sneaking up on a single enemy who should be an easy target, only to find out that his 5 buddies were lurking around the corner - The whole endless path of caed nua (especially walking north after climbing down a certain pit) - The ground floor of the Lighthouse in Ondra's Gift - Picking the "wrong" answer in certain conversations The bear is not the greatest example (given you were warned about how dangerous it is), but even in this situation it would be plausible to escape after disabling or blinding the bear. A decent fleeing system would have been nice, especially if it took into account movement speed and/or the general ability to fight in a specific moment. Imagine you find the bear and engage anyway because, as a ranger, you have your own bear after all, so the fight should be manageble, right? Your bear dies after two hits, so you use crippling shot on him (I know rangers don't have access to this skill - it's hypothetical), so the bear is hobbled and you can escape (possibly losing some of your inventory in the process, so you have to come back and get it at some point). That would be a much better implementation. Right now it's mostly trial and error with only a few instances where there is enough, if any, information about the upcoming encounter. How can you tell when it is the right time to engage two ogres at once if you never tried before? Bear vs. a single lvl 2 hero is pretty obvious, but what about later stages of the game? Fact of the matter is, that the current system makes hardcore playthroughs without an intricate knowledge of every single encounter impossible. Instead of blindly defending this already awesome game, we should be open to accept criticism where it's due, so Obsidian can hopefully make it an even better game once the DLC/Addon/Patch is out. There is no need to talk down people who have absolute valid points about how the game could be improved. Actually, this is quite detrimental to the quality of future content. It's a really good game right now, but it can become so much better with the right tweaks.
  17. On a related note: Is it possible to turn off these effects altogether. I hate glowing weapons - it's a personal thing.
  18. I was wondering if there is a possibility to bind certain skills to hotkeys. Especially things like switch weapon or instant passive spells that have to be activated in every encounter (things that aren't situational) would be much less tedious with hotkeys.
  19. I'm trying to find the right build for my main character and after rolling an INT fighter (Disciplined Barrage, Bonus Knockdown, Two handed spec, armoured grace, Pike), I'm getting very close but I'm still not quite there yet. I find it kind of difficult to build a well-rounded fighter that isn't too dependent on support. What is you ultimate middle-ground build for a close combat char?
  20. My lvl 7 Cypher with Draining Whip cannot replenish her focus anymore. The particle effect is there, Soul Whip activates correctly (it's listed in the combat log and in the character screen under "Active Effects") but whenever I land a hit with either of my weapons, I don't get any focus back. Is this a known bug or am I cancelling the effect somehow? PS: The character is a hired one
  21. I'm stuck after killing Lord Raedric. After talking to him for the first time, I decided to pay Kolcs a visit, since he had not told me the whole truth about himself. So I went to Magran's Fork and found him in his hideout. He convinced me to go and kill Raedric anyway, so that's what I did, but when I went back to the hideout, Kolcs was gone and only Giacco was there to greet me. The journal still says "Confront Kolcs", even though I told him I would kill Raedric. I can't find him anywhere, so I can't finish the quest. Any help would be appreciated!
