OK, either this is treason and US military has a much bigger problem than Trump plans to expand nuclear arsenal or the story is a complete hoax. People get defensive and angry, because they actually DID work hard and made huge sacrifices to make their lives better and create a better start for their kids. And when some punk says they had it easy and they are privileged it diminish their hard work and newsflash "teacher", people who struggled for years for success will not put up with some punks insulting them. He's right though. People do get angry and defensive when you point out their lack of awareness. It's silly to say "I don't get why" when it's always been the dumbest people who get the most angry when you call them dumb. Why would you call people who managed to achieve something from humble beginnings dumb? Explain to me how a "woke" kid to good to get a minimum wage job spending his days as internet SJW is better than a kid who works afternoons plus weekends helping his parents and saving up to start his business or putting himself through college? What's "woke"?

That sucks the nuts of a mule. I assume there's remaining family or close friends keeping you there? Are there other instances (child protective services, social workers) you could contact?

I'd call the cops anyway to get those girls out as their health and safety would seem more important than my own, but then I have a history of suicidal behavior so it's probably not the best advice to follow.

Getting it out of the way early.

If you were to react, it should be solely to make it clear just how barren the field on which you grow your ****s is and that whatever they think you've heard you've already forgotten because that is how little they matter. If ignoring doesn't work, the best way to kill this is overkill.

While I applaud the actual action taken, I'm a bit concerned about the intent and phrasing here. OpenCritic themselves calls it taking a stand, it's referred to as an initiative to "combat" the practice. While all the real impact is great, adding more information for the consumer, I feel like OpenCritic showing an open bias might be a mistake. The only reason I tolerate that aggregator more than others is because it's been unbiased and fair. I'm there to cut through the agendas, not to fall into them.

Wow, that escalated quickly.

Not what was said, my good numbers man. I respect dietetics, but most dieticians I've had any interaction or articles about didn't. If the license meant something, I'd respect dieticians but in my experience they are a google search away from knowing less about dietetics than me. EDIT: My bad, nutritionists is the word I should have been using. Here, there's not really have such a distinction currently.

Movies You've Seen (or would like to see) Recently

To be clear, I don't think slow films are a quality issue. Slow pace isn't bad. A lot of slow films are really good. But I have issues with the act of watching slow films due to my brain-no-worky-good which just makes it more difficult for me to watch them. -

Any of you watch the new Star Wars trailer? I'm conflicted because I want to avoid spoilers but the Star Wars trailers have generally been pretty spoiler-free so far. The director originally said "might no want to watch if you don't want to be spoiled" but now he was like "I TAKE IT BACK WATCH IT WATCH IT". I generally restrict myself to "1 teaser, 1 trailer" when it comes to movie previews but Star Wars is a bit more special IMO. What are your impressions? Should I watch or avoid? EDIT: Regarding Blade Runner, it's one of those films that I've technically seen entirely but never once in sequence. I always pick up bits and pieces and I like them but whenever I sit down to watch it it feels kinda slow and I end up getting distracted. Maybe I was watching the wrong edition, what's generally regarded as the superior cut? I've been interested in the sequel especially because the director's really good, so maybe that's the impulse I need to finally get through it. (Note that I'm not trying to make it sound like a boring movie, I just have ADHD-ADD combined and I have trouble with slow paced films.) -
Indeed, knowing a dietician is licensed is about as useful as knowing a palm-reader has been certified by Uri Geller.

I only read the linked Eurogamer article on AC:Origins, but it pretty clearly states: "But these chests are only purchasable with in-game currency, and there for those people who like to play the game naturally and pad out their wallets." It then goes to explain it's something for effective gold-hoarders to spend their in-game currency on. That's all I know. I doubt buying currency with real life money won't be added at some point, but right now it's not AFAIK.
-
Reading that article it sounds to me you buy it with in-game currency only and the vendor shows up in random places? I mean, just getting random loot for in-game currency doesn't make it a loot box in the style of real-money-gambling stuff. Loot boxes are a red flag for me too, but in this case it doesn't sound much different than, say, gambling for gold back in Diablo 1.

+1 Gave both of them a shot yesterday and watched a couple eps. Clearly Orville is a Star Trek show despite the occassional juvenile jokes, and the new Star Trek show just... isn't.

No doubt it will be done to thunderous applause. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2017/10/05/the-campus-anti-free-speech-movement-black-lives-matter-protesters-shut-down-aclu-speaker-at-william-mary/?utm_term=.92681c96e2bc I know we went from Confederate flag is racist to US anthem is racist in like 2 minutes, but now liberalism is racist? What's next? Non racist are racists? Non-racists are racists has been a thing. You're behind the curve. I'll cut you some slack since you don't live in the US. Indeed, if you are 100% non-racist you're erasing cultural heritage by not paying attention to it at all. Or something.

Yeah, I hated watching all of those but seriously mad props to Citizen Kane for kicking record-the-theatre-play to the curb and basically inventing the modern visual storytelling methods for film as a medium. I don't have to enjoy something to respect it.

That sounds closer to the truth.
-
Oh yeah, he did say white males. So I have issues with wealth? But then why would I work for that Soros guy?
-
That doesn't make sense, I thought leftists hated Trump. I guess I'm not sure what everyone else thinks a leftist or SJW even is anymore.
-
After googling, follow-up question: If I'm a racist SJW hippie, why would I work for an eastern-european coorporate banking pig?
-
Who's George Soros?

We know TN, you are known for being honest and just. Yeah, that's true. I put a lot of value on the forum guidelines and respecting Obsidian's decisions. If I had let my personal feelings get in the way, I could easily think of some members that would have been perma-banned a long time ago. I value the rules so much that I can't persecute people and go full SJW on Obsidian's boards like I would if I owned the board and if I can no longer be objective I tell the others that they should take care of a situation. In truth I'm much milder than I feel like I should be.

To be fair, I was completely honest about not trusting the source and validity.
