I was including both types - physical and ethereal piracy. Physical is more of an actual problem because in that case you san see the lost revenue and it is very widespread and entrenched.

There is technology to allow high bandwidth communication wirelessly using stuff like the masts they use for cell phones. DO you have cable tv? That is a network through which broadband could be delivered.

EDIT: I Understand about rural areas and the issue of connectivity Servant of Flame and yeah its a real bummer. But i think that may be resolved with wireless connections.

Around 13m households (more than half) are online in the UK. Over half all the net connections in the UK are broadband with dial up in decline. I cant find any up to date stats on how many homes are broadband or whether some form of broadband is available to anyone in the UK
