  1. Give him just a few levels in Tech spec then hold. Now you have a Jedi Gaurdian with mad skillz! I liked Bao Dur, he just needs more convo options you can use for more backstory. A nice cut-scene of you two blowing up the planet would have been nice...
  2. How about, Bastila Shan vs. Princess Leia vs. Padme Amidala vs. Atris vs. Handmaiden vs. Visas vs. Mira vs. Mara Jade It'll be the pay per view event of the century!
  3. Ahhh, now we're delving into the sweet science of "Revanology". Revanology is where we discuss and dissect every line of dialog to divine the true Revan. Those are some interesting conspiricy theories Ender, too bad there's nothing in Kotor 2 to back it up. Shame too, it seems Revanology also suffers when there are no lines to discuss and dissect...
  4. He didn't rush in to save the queen because he had to keep his cover. If he ran in screaming "get yer hands off mah woman!" he would have been so busted. (and so redneck too!) Heck, you said Kavar was a smooth talker yourself. They were bumping uglies, ya know it!
  5. Very dead Vrook. Very dead Vandar on both counts. If we're talking uber-Luke from the novels then Luke stands a chance. Very dead Rancor. Very dead Handmaidens as my very low-level Exile pwned Handmaiden in sparring all the time. Very dead Zaalbar I don't think Mira is stupid enough to go near a Sarlacc Pit. I'd like to see HK-47 vs IG-88. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I Actually think Luke from "Return of the Jedi" would have a shot. Remember he held his own in a long lightsabre duel with Darth Vader. Vader was the "chosen one", supposedly one of the most powerful Jedi of his time.
  6. They "made" Revan become something when they sent him away. Abandoning the republic and all your friends is certainly not something Revan learned from me. I'm sure there are others here whose first reaction to the news was "my Revan would never do that!" So now that a "significant subsection" of the fan-base is peeved, your cop out can be declared an official failure.
  7. A lot of people have brought this up, but realistically it just isn't going to happen. Creating major changes in a world map based on your character's alignment and/or gender would would double/quadruple the work for each significant location, especially when you take into account all of the character scripting and dialogue... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You can have all the same areas, just populate them with slightly different placeables. Also, one or two NPC's could be different, but a lot of them would be the same. For instance, let's say in LS Dantooine instead of Administrator Adare you get "Administrator Mission Vao". You'd still have the same Zherron, Azkul, Garevick and all the others. These are good reasons why it would have been better to "wrap it all up" in Kotor 2. Then they could have set Kotor 3 fifty years into the future to start fresh with a brand new story.
  8. Ok people, your being a little naive here. Sure, the Jedi council says relationships are the work of the dark side. That has not stopped: Jolee and his Wife, Andur and Nomi Sunrider, Juhani and her "friend" Belaya, Revan and Bastila, Female Revan and Carth, The Exile and anybody of the opposite sex that dares set foot on the ship, Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala, Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade. Apparently the Jedi temple is a better place to pick up chicks than most people realize. The queen is single, Kavar's in shape and has a full head of hair. They spend a lot of time together. If Talia is interested she probably wasted no time pulling that old "hold me I'm scared" line. She sure did seem awful reluctant to let him go to the meeting... you do the math!
  9. Like I said at the end of my post, you can pick your Revan as part of the character creation process when you start a new game. In one easy step you've set the gender and appearance of "your" Revan. Then all you'd need is a check box or radio button to tell the game whether your Revan was LS savior or DS conquerer. That's two quick and painless steps. The replay value of the game would have skyrocketed. You'd have to play it at least 4 times to see what happens when: Exile is LS and Revan is DS, Exile is LS and Revan is LS, Exile is DS and Revan is LS, Exile is DS and Revan is DS. The whole concept of squaring off the toon you built in Kotor 1 versus the Exile is kind of neat as well. Also replay value could have been enhanced by having a lot of differences in the world where Revan is LS vs the world where Revan is DS. They just missed out when they copped out and gave some lame excuse about "true Sith". Yea whatever. <_< When they copped out we missed out too...
  10. you're thought of the game as too much action oriented, what I'm saying is that this was never comparable to a FPS in which you fight through hordes of battles to face bastila and then revan. the game was pretty good in my opinion, they just needed to polish off some stuff. Hopefully K3 will be great <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They missed such a great opportunity by not having Revan and Bastila be pivotal NPC's. I'm probably not the only one here who thinks it would have been neat to have a party of Exile, Revan and Bastila mowing down baddies on Malachor 5. It would also be neat to face a darkside Revan and Bastila as a LS Exile. Also as a DS Exile you could betray your DS Revan "ally" for a good final fight. Naturally your DS Exile would have to square off against a LS Revan as part of taking over the galaxy. Additionally, it would have added replay value if the world were modified heavily based on Revan's actions in Kotor 1. If you specify a DS Revan, then "the republic" should be replaced with "the new Empire" and statues of Revan should be everywhere. Also, the "Administrator" type characters you get your missions from should have a distinctly different flavor in this new "dark universe". Imagine being a LS'er and having to find a way to set all this right! Sure there's the problem of knowing what Revan looks like and what sex and alignment he/she is. That is easily solvable by adding a few steps in the character creation process when you start a new game. You simply pick your Revan from the available Kotor 1 models then click a checkbox stating what alignment they are. Problem solved.
  11. I have an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, and I used to have gamma problems. I noticed that the game would be very "dark" after every cutscene, and I'd have to adjust it in the game. After adjusting the settings using the ATI windows utilities for "full screen 3D color" almost all my problems went away. When I first load the game I have to adjust the brightness first thing. After that though, the game stays bright until the next time I start it from windows.
  12. It's a known bug in the conversation where the handmaiden asks you to lay down your weapons. If you simply say "yes", this happens, and the game is hosed from that point. Take any other conversation choice like "Who are you?", and you'll be fine. You will have to load from an earlier save though.
  13. If your not playing a "semi DS" character, you hear a constant stream of nagging from Kreia while your influence quickly burns away. You never get any influence or praise when your disagreeing with her. The fact that she never doubts that she is right and you are wrong leads me to believe that she does not view herself as flawed. I am on the bandwagon for the "Vrook going to the darkside" conspiracy theory. I think he's ready to start assembling his Sith fleet any day now.
  14. And we all know what that item is! I got a ship full of Jedi's who wield vibroblades through most of the game. There is something seriously wrong with that. I beat KOTOR 5 or 6 times and never used a savegame editor. For KOTOR 2 though, the slow pace of lightsaber acquisiton just drives me to warp some in. Note to Obsidian staff: If your a jedi padawan, you have a lightsaber! Since I want to dual wield, I need 2! I'd pay for an expansion pack that changes the lightsaber quest so you build your lighsaber by the time you leave Peragus. Make it so each time I convert make a Jedi they "magically" build one for their use. Make short saber's buildable at a workbench for us dual wielders. That's all that expansion pack has to do. Of course if you really want to seal the deal you can throw in the droid factory...
  15. In response to Kreia's constant nagging about being too goody-two-shoes: Exile: I've already got 70,000 credits I can't find a use for, why am I trying to muscle more from street beggers? I know, I'll by armor my crew can't wear because I've converted them all to jedi! Blasters? Medpacks? Anything they sell I've got 6 of already!
  16. Well it would have been giving them weapons and armor if I hadn't totally cleaned the place out after blowing the door. "
  17. I think the view you express is woefully incorrect, unless you're joking. Rights only matter when the time comes to test them. Just because someone did horrible things does not make it acceptable to do similar in return. Or am I to assume that Hitler should have been sent to the gaschamber if captured, or that Saddam Hussein should be executed by the same biological weapons he used himself? No, you don't respond in kind in such cases. If you did, then you admit that you're no better than the person you seek to judge. But yes, you have put your finger on where the masters went wrong - they made themselves almost as guilty as Revan himself by doing to him what he would have done to others... I sense the dark side beckoning... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well in this case "responding in kind" means they would kill Revan. In their minds, allowing him to live on as a simple soldier is more merciful than killing him. Same deal with Hitler and Saddam, I would advocate execution, but not by the means they used. We are the good guys, and we don't torture. We do have the obligation and the right to judge them for their crimes though. As far as why they sent him off with Bastila, they seem to think highly of her abilities. Remember she was the leader of the strike team sent to capture him in the first place. Also she is the only one who can reach into his mind to pull out the star map visions.
  18. I've been strictly a PC gamer for years, and I'm getting a console as soon as the 360 comes out. More games are coming out for the console than are coming out for the PC these days. As consoles get more powerful the need to spend megabucks on a PC will get less and less. You'd only need a PC for work related stuff, and that cuts into your gaming!
  19. The various judicial systems of the world make decisions like this every day. My right to determine my own destiny stops when I start harming other people. Yes, showing up with an invincible armada to take over the known galaxy does count as "harming other people"! I thought we were talking about the council possibly restoring Revan's lost memories instead of trying to trick him into revealing the Star Forge's location. That was the only other way to find it's location that I can see. It's a bit much to think that a fully restored Revan would act the same way he did on Taris. Imagine your on the council for a minute. Bastila has reported the proceedings on Taris and given the "new" Revan a glowing recommendation. Your first question is how much of that "do-goodiness" is programmed into you and how much is genuine? Since there's no way to know the answer to that, and since millions of lives are hanging in the balance, I tend to give the K1 council a little slack.
  20. Yet using him casually because it's convenient is a mark of the Sith, not the jedi. They argue redemption, but they are not willing to put it to the test, and they can't even be bothered to ask his companions if he has changed. The fact that they don't suggests that they are more concerned with his disobidience than with his motives for defying them, which speaks volumes about their own arrogance. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Without the mind wipe Lord Revan would have simply been a hostile and very dangerous prisoner. The council would have no way to find the source of Malak's fleet, and Malak would crush the republic. I don't believe this is a "casual" use of Revan, they are sacrificing one individual in an attempt to save the millions of lives. They are only worried about his "disobedience" because he has a history of disobedience. I believe they were correct in not being 100% honest with Revan because of that history. First he is the leader of the group of Jedi's that go to war against the council's decision. Then he becomes the Dark Lord of the Sith and attempts to take over the republic. Is there any reason why the K1 council should trust in "Lord" Revan's motives? Is there any reason why the council should believe that "Lord" Revan would help them destroy the army he created?
  21. I remember this quote from Kreia too. The problem with this theory is that the corrupted Revan was way more dangerous than the Mandalorians were. On the K1 council's decision: They had few options available. Technically, the war was already lost, Malak was going to crush them with Revan's army. Since Revan had disobeyed them before, I understand why they didn't trust him with the truth of his identity. On the K2 council's decision: The decision to cut the LS Exile off from the force seems to stem from irrational fear. After constantly berating the Exile for acting without thinking, they themselves reach a snap decision to destroy a potential ally. This is especially strange at a time when they are running short of allies. If nothing else, they needed to examine the Exile more thouroughly before passing this harsh judgement. At the very least, destroy the Sith, then cut off the Exile from the force!
  22. Kreia has been known to toss some compliments your way from time to time. What does it say about Vrook when he's more critical of you than the head of the Sith academy? "
  23. The council's reaction shows an irrational fear, which is very un-jedilike. On Dantooine I save the Administrator in front of Vrook. I help Kavar (an "old friend") save the queen on Ondaron. The bald one with the funky name watches me save the refugees on Nar Shadaar. So it should be obvious by this point that I'm a force for good. Instead of uniting with me to fight the Sith though, these guys turn on me instead. They don't even have the backbone to discuss the decision with me before they start draining me. There are true Jedi left in the galaxy, but they are not in that temple. They are all in a smuggler's vessel called the Ebon Hawke. :D
  24. Remember the Sith practice slavery, and often kill innocent civilians "just because it's fun". It's not tough to be "more honerable" than that.
