Nope. They could very easily put a KotOR 3 in the big gap of time between KotOR2 and TOR, it's still a very big universe. They don't need to go anywhere near the Revan storyline. It's never good to put in a sequel before the previous sequel. Always leads to to much "Eh? Eh? You see how we're showing every event you learned about before?" and not enough actual storytelling.

Enoch, take it. If all else fails, you've at least got the slot on your resume for a better job down the road because you look like a more attractive candidate.

People have been talking about people getting sick of comic movies since the 90s. As long as they keep making good ones, people will still see them. Eh, I think it's more along the lines of "as long as the Iron Man's out weigh the Green Lanterns".

Actually, it's really easy to figure out. Iowa State Cyclones Our mascot is "Cy" We "ride" a bus CyRide.

Thing is, currently Chinese industry and commercial interests lie mostly in scavenging. They make cheap ripoffs rather than their own product, so they'll always need the US and other nations to provide them markets to steal from/sell to. The current global economic situation is that China, as a nation, cannot bring down the american government because it'd cost them to much money. Our own government can because of the "our country tis of thee" jingoism that keeps slapping us in the face if we question them.
-
Technically our own government does have Echelon programs in place to try to root out domestic "terror". Problem is that there is no way that they can dig through the info properly. Where the home government becomes more of a threat than the Chinese, is the fact that if you become a "Person of interest" to them, all of a sudden you've got your phone tapped, your internet tapped, your entire life being dissected by government analysts to figure out every little thing you did that might lead them to be able to link you to nefarious deeds. THAT is not a pleasant position to be in. Think about a government auditing your finances. Now think about that Audit not just being about your money, but also what you say, how you spend your time, who you talk to, where you take a leak, what porn you like... THAT is what your government will do to you, and they will act on what they find. The Chinese? They don't care about a single person, they want generalities. They want things that'll let them become an economic super power. They want to be able to shut down the internet and make the US military look like idiots because they don't even remember how they operated in the 1980's.

Well, first off

Just a a personal note on Iron Man 3
-
Isn't that the point though? You have "serious ****" happen to you and you lose proper objectivity. And if you happen to think that the wrong person is to blame and want them dead, wouldn't the wrong person being killed end up with "serious ****" happening to that family and, by rights, you/your family who pushed for their loved one to die, be brought up on charges of murder or at the very least "accidental manslaughter"? You're not advocating Justice, you're advocating vengeance. You may feel they're similar, having been the harmed party, but they aren't, and vengance should never be used to justify a death.

You say that, but at the same time you'll also have mistakes made (humans make mistakes get over it) so one minor misunderstanding leads to a pitchfork and torch brigade charging down the wrong path. And in this day and age of the media, you've got most of your jury pool and public opinion swayed by people like Nancy Grace who exist solely to feast on the revulsion that they make others feel. I honestly got pissed off at the Scott Peterson case because he got railroaded so quickly to "OMG HE'S A FILTHY ANIMAL WHO KILLED!" before there was even a trial. I'm not saying that I think he's innocent or anything like that, but rather that I can't ever feel he got a proper and fair trial because of how the entire thing was handled.

... Could you hire me for low level online correspondence work? Oh and fun thing to notice: Thursday at work I saw a print out on the wall marked "Why good people leave" because apparently even my boss has realized that "Oh ****, everyone I had well trained is leaving as fast as they can"

Curveball debate - are Paedophiles organised like Al Qaeda
Calax replied to Walsingham's topic in Way Off-Topic
Not gonna lie wals, but if we start "streamlining" Murders and Pedos, you're standing on a slippery slope down. You're doing this against pedophiles, then womens advocacy groups will start demanding that the most depraved rapists be summairly shot too... and then the not so depraved, and then just rapists in general (or castration). Murder would be treated the same with people demanding that drone strikes be used against anyone who's killed and would be up for 1st degree.- 16 replies

The way they handled Mandarin in the animated movie was great. He was a chinese warlord and sorceror who's spirit was bound to 4 rings and a bracelet each ring controlling one of the 4 elements and the bracelet commanding them. I think making him magic based is a good move considering all his other villains are guys in armor. With Scarlet Witch in Avengers 2 and a Dr Strange movie in the works, its not like they can't have magic. Aside, the new Gatsby looks pretty good, despite the book being rubbish. The issue IMO is that with the Movie franchise, they can't get away with technogibberishing magic out of the way. For a character like the Mandarin of the comics, they'd need to take a lot longer to build him up. It seems more like Tony would be playing a mind game against the Mandarin, not much punching or shooting involved. Great for a novel, comic, or even a TV series, but doesn't seem like it'd fit well within a movie format. Admittedly I haven't seen the animated film you've stated, but that's a far different universe than the one found in the films. And even then animation generally allows you to suspend disbelief at magic being tossed around much more easily than on celluloid. But still, they have a Dr Strange movie in the works, and if they try to explain away magic scientifically in a movie about sorcerors and demons and such, you're just going to piss people off. So magic will exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there's no reason to save it until phase 3. True, but my point wasn't that a magic character wouldn't work totally. But more that a magic character wouldn't work against Tony due to the way that his franchise has been going and what people expect from an Iron Man movie.

Basically, Jack Chick is a yahoo who writes little comic strips about his particular brand of Christianity. He's very critical of more progressive (and by his standards even the Mormons look progressive) branches of Christianity. He's kind of a one note writer, with every "tract" being basically the same. "Main" charater starts out a sinner, a person he meets starts blathering about Christ and Christianity (no offence to those religious, but I don't think you could call what he has them saying anything but blathering), Character is saved and becomes a proper god fearing, evolution hating, Christian. http://tracts.boolean-union.com/ That's a dissection of some of his "tracts". Including one where a porn addicted pedo/incest/molester gets "Saved" by the power of christ (that's the only "tract" he's retracted)

Iron Man 3. Much better than the second one.

Ubisoft. Terrible customer support but really high quality games that are unique and inventive. Often marred by bugs and terrible ports.

They didn't "smack China," the US government makes these announcements yearly, at the very least. Espionage in all forms is a two-way street when it comes to real players on the international stage. Have you ever heard of Sun Tzu? "For to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill." This was by far the most hard line declaration that China was hacking like crazy, and that they were significantly increasing their military power within their sphere. And if you think I'm always referring to China as the "Jade Empire" you better check yourself. It's used for impact and name recognition rather than saying "the land that Zhuge Liang built".
-
I was more interested in the fact that only now is the Pentagon actually bringing it up and smacking China for that.

Interview done. I may have flubbed a question ("How did you perform customer recovery", I ended up using an old generalized gamestop anecdote... rather than the one I did last week) but overall I think it went pretty well. Should know by the end of the week "what the next step will be". Do think I became more attractive because I specifically mentioned sticking with the company long term.... but it's hard to gauge the person over the phone. Also: One of my cousins projects is going to the Cannes Film Festival.

Particularly interesting to note is that they directly accused the Chinese of hacking and cyber attacks.

They did do it as Justice League was running. it was HORRID (Joker went from somebody with charisma to just being a psycho who tossed cards. It was just called "The Batman" and done in the animation style of Jackie Chan Adventures. Playing Homeworld, just passed the Garden of Kadesh, and examining the Ghost Ship.
