  1. guys i hope you will love this based on http://www.incgamers.com/2015/03/pillars-of-eternity-custom-portrait-packs-and-how-to-add-them i found http://www.spellholdstudios.net/ie/portraits my fav portraits pack is the one made by artastrophe. I do not own rights to any of artistic work I came up with an idea of making portrait pack so i basically took all portraits from the pack i found (which I think is the most beatiful one) and converted them to 76x96 from 210x330 or other format and i saved them with names that allow you to use them in game. here (currently working on edition 2) http://www.speedyshare.com/Aq7C7/PaintBG-v2.1-EE.7z here The question aroused when i worked on this is how to write a script that open a folder take every file (210x330 bmp) save it as <name><counter>_lg.png and then resize it to 76 x 96 and saves it as <name><counter>_sm.png and then set counter = counter + 1. I used gimp to my work and i made it everytinh manually but!!! it is possible to write scripts in gimp but i do not have time to get into this and to make it (so i could automate my work and help others in microseconds with converting their portraits). Maybe some other life... (im a math student if u are interested) So now i present you nice pack of portraits although some are blurry (because of resizing them from 38x60 to 210x330) and i present you also dimensions of cutting if you wanted to cut a part of huge portait and then resize it. (so you take for example 114 x 144 from 210 x 330 and then resize it to 76 x 96 and you dont shrink the portrait) 1 1,1 1,2 1,3 1,4 1,5 1,6 1,7 1,8 1,9 2 76 76 83,6 91,2 98,8 106,4 114 121,6 129,2 136,8 144,4 152 96 96 105,6 115,2 124,8 134,4 144 153,6 163,2 172,8 182,4 192 And the last thing Dear Obsidian, please learn to implement sorting and item stacking (eg. i click armors in trade = i see only armors, eg2 i see armors = armors of same type are stacked and i see i can buy 10 longswords not long sword, long sword....) you can always hire me for 1k$ i can do whatever even kiss your feet in my country in 2014 avg salary was 715 $ (netto) this is sad just sad among with other trilion bugs :/ like try to use mirror image level 2 spell and move... Game is full of bugs and flaws but i hope it will get better (i do not recall playing bg in 1998 with so many bugs...) dont get me wrong i love the game; music, story, gui, maps, graphics MARVELLOUS small joke: i wonder if LG paid them for product placement in game files ^^ (you need lg ending for large image portrait) oh and by the way why you didnt buy 'promoted' for the game on twitch in release day... could be more guys seeing and buying this lovely game
  2. unfortunately you could find easy ways of dealing with hard enemies like basilisks and then become extremly powerful in short time... hope we dont get it here
  3. You soloed Icewind dale? Wow... i wanna see it Same with bg/bg 2 or nwn? Let me know :D But Poe?? This game isnt 100% polished... combat is ekhm - if u try to run away because u just got hit and u have 1 health then enemy get an additional attack and u have 100% of dying... not even funny.
  4. 1st - mirror image spell (lvl 2 for mage) is not displaying movement of character 2nd - sound on closing the beginner advice is getting stucked and repeat in loop other cry things: 1) 8 locations - 0 nice items found (currently im finishing the stronghold.... with some serious issues) 2) cant move away from enemies - the character tries to attack them and dies as they fire back 3) game reminds me of dragon age - go to doors trap all the enemies shoot fireballs and pick the loot 4) before you run away from enemy you die (if you are mage - you get one / two hitted on normal difficulty) 5) bear is faster than human (well... maybe thats accurate) 6) fights are mostly mass enemies like 4 - 5 or 10 enemies at once... and they all reminds of 3-4 diffrent types randomly spammed like 2 priest + 1 fighter + 1 thief vs your party my tears today arent the tears of joy... no multiplayer nothing good no good economy balance, no items just trash like pick 50 helmets and sell them to get gold LOL, and you cant buy anything good and you cant craft either because you barely get any items to craft well obsidian at least you tried to make it happen and i belived in you and i do still belive but we need A LOT of changes... eliminate bugs first... and let us put AI on or off characters got so much statistics but its all useless because fight is like 5-10 seconds... and you just use 4 spells and then you rest and then you go to next fight and over and over again....
  5. @Tartantyco I love your work - portraits etc, but there were some other nice portraits worth mentioning do you have any other fan-made portraits soundpacks etc? on topic: im disappointed realse date isnt at midnight : ( would be nicer if i knew it since 1st march not 24th
  6. What programming language was used or is used nowadays in game development? for example if anyone knows what was the language used to create baldur's gate, icewind dale...? What's the language used for Pillars? In other games like League of Legends? Diablo III? Any infos / guess?
  7. Unity is 3D, I guess (but I don't know) most models are made in 3D and projected 2D or 2,5D so to say. For me 4 million dollars is a lot of money but I am just a student. Just looked up the bugdet for GTA V which was estimated to be like 265 milions US dollars and ended in "Grand Theft Auto V broke industry sales records and became the fastest-selling entertainment product in history, earning US $800 million in its first day and US $1 billion in its first three days." (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto_V) So it seems like 4 mil is not a lot of money in game development industry. Still two years development is 167000 $ for each month to share for salaries and static costs and other things. I don't know the number of people involved in the project. I hope they will invest in some advertisment now on Twitch, Facebook or somewhere ; p
  8. I just wish the multiplayer topic remains open for futher development,,, along with game editor like in Neverwinter Nights series. It's a 4 milion dollars game after all. It's sentenced to success.
  9. Release date 13-02-2015 real or fake? source: http://www.empik.com/pillars-of-eternity-koch-media,p1104058533,multimedia-p
  10. 1st one easy to do but it was restricted to dragon's breath in bg2 wasnt it? 2nd is about graphics but its not the graphics we are looking for right? and the resources (mostly human) are limited
  11. Hey write your memory stories about cRPGs lets move back into the past while we look forward to the future :D I remember when I was at my dad's friend house. He had a boy and they had a computer. And what I saw was a great game he was playing... Baldur's Gate. He was fighting a mage/warrior and half of his party died. He briefly got to the temple and revived them. Yes. He didnt reload. I was super hyped about that game. For 8-9 years old boy it looked really fun and realistic. I finally got the 5cd pack and tried to install it on my 24 mb ram computer (133? mHz?) with my brother. We read that the dwarfs are most immune to damage and they have extra health points so when I finally got the game installed probably quite before midnight (and it wasnt on first try for sure) I made a dwarf. I didn't somehow like it so I created a human fighter and that was it. Now most of my characters get his short name but I never came across such an adventure game. It took me weeks to complete the game and even today when I look back I never finished the game in the same way. Also I always found something new in the game even before BG: EE, a small detail something unimportant but still telling me; 'there is something more'. Skipping most of the BG II experiences I would like to share my final moment of ToB fight. It wasn't easy but me and my brother were very sad that it's ending (and we didn't see that coming - so to say about the storyline of the game). The funny and unexpected fact is that my father was accidently playing 'Con te Partiro' by A. Bocelli, ... The stories of characters you met on your way made me even more sad. can you imagine such strong emotion burst? I am sure I cried that night... I never was so hyped about a game. Now it's the second time. I'm here checking everyday news and I'm waiting and waiting... It's gonna be the return to my childhood. Thanks Obsidian!
