I don't know if this is the right forum for this, but I will give it a try... Post your favourite art, it can be anything, paintings, sculptures, or Volourns finger up his nose. Here's my favourite art (Made by Jan-Anders Eriksson): "earthlife", "the Players", "a human on the road", "two angels",and "Staffans dogs"

No, I don't think it has to be of high quality. If you think TOEE is art, then fine, it is art. To you. the reason I think Torment is art, is because of the the depth of the story, and the surreal setting. And I think it was developed with the intention of being art as well. Do you, Volourn, think a 5 year old childs drawings of flowers and stick-figures are art? I think they are. But bad art. Yes, that is art if you think it is... but very very bad art in my opinion

Anything can be art, as long as someone think it is. A bucket filled with milk can be art, if you put it on display, and say it's art. Games might not be art to Volourn, but they are still art to me, at least some of them, Planescape torment being an example.

As a former art student I have thought about this a lot: what is art? IMO anything can be art, as long as someone think it is art (can be the viewer or the creator) There has been art exhibitions with paintings made of blood and even sh**, and it has been called art. And it is art, because people think it is. Someone (don't remember the name) put grease in a corner of a art-exhibition-place, and called it corner of grease, and it was art. I don't think it was good art, but it was art. Andy Warhol made photos of soup-canisters, and it was art. So are games art? If you think it's art, then it's art (for you). It's all in the eyes of the beholder (or the creator)

lalala This is quite funny I think (I have childish humour )

I'm playing the gold version of disciples 2, with all the expansions. Currently playing the mountain clans saga, (the only one I have left to play). Disciples 3 is coming soon by the way, if it doesn't get delayed that is. But it will only feature the elves, humans, and demons. Undead and dwarves will not be in I love my sons of Ymir:

I'm currently playing Disciples 2, a very good game, if you can stand it's shortcomings. It's a heroes-like game, but with a darker tone. And it has the same problems as heroes. When you lose a battle, and your best leader and all of his upgraded army, you cannot win anymore, so you save before each battle, and reload if things go bad. Very tiresome, but somehow I just love this game. It may be the art direction, with dark and scary portraits of each demon and undead. And the great looking battle-animations It's a game where you keep thinking "just one more turn" Has anyone here played it ??

No, but close! It's Black Crypt, the best dungeon master clone ever created, even better then Eye of the beholder... I had it on my old Amiga. It would be sweet to play it again, but my amiga is broken, sadly... And I guess it's illegal to download it as abandonware.

I think the whole van buren, and later on, the gauntlet problems were very unfortunate. But I have high hopes for Sawyers future work. From what I've read, he seems like a very ambitious person with great opinions about rpgs, and how they should be designed. Maybe there will be some new opportunity as a lead designer at obsidian, for some future project? I hope so

IWD2 must be one of the best games created under such difficult circumstances. I've heard people complain about J.E:s work with it as lead designer, followed by doubts about his competence as a game maker at obsidian (some people don't know what they are talking about IMO). I've also read somewhere that Sawyer doesn't like the game himself. I probably like the game more myself then, I've replayed it 5 or 6 times

Yes, but the dryad only helped you a little bit. I didn't know about any animals.... Perhaps something I missed??

Pros: Very challenging! the first chapter is one of the best I've ever played in any game. Many interesting fights, like the bridge, war drums, and many others as well. Peter Stormare doing voice-over Many interesting fights, with a good mixture of enemy spellcasters, healers, and fighters. I think IWD 2 does this better than its prequel. Good story (but not excellent) Beautiful new spell icons and portraits. As mentioned before, many more combinations when creating a party. Few bugs (but don't choose the feat improved initiative, it doesn't work) Cons: It's a bit uneven in quality. First chapter=excellent, but some areas (dragons eye, ice temple) are a bit boring and unchallenging. You don't get any experience for a long while, when fighting yuan-tis in dragons eye. I know that's how it's supposed to be by the rules (they are considered too easy compared to your level), but it's very unsatisfactoring. Some of the graphics feels a bit less detailed compared to IWD1 While I liked the haunted forests atmosphere, I didn't like the solution to the maze-thing. I might be wrong here, but was there any logical solution to it, if you didn't have the tracking skill? It seemed like a trial and error-puzzle. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Overall, a very good game, almost as good as the first IWD.

This is my dog Sam, isn't he cute? . . . . . . . . No seriously it isn't, but it's a real living dog, not a fake or anything (and it's not a corpse). Read about him in the newspaper today. He has been selected the ugliest dog in the world three times in a row now. But I think he is kind of cute anyway, in his own way.

What are you playing ? (looking forward too)

Replaying Baldurs Gate 2 for the 113th time, and waiting for: the Witcher , looks really good, and uses an upgraded version of the nwn-engine. It's an action-rpg with a lot of realtime swordfighting, and a dark and mature setting. Let's just hope the developers don't screw it up... I don't think they have made any games of this scale before. But it has great potential, we just have to wait and see... NWN 2, no need to explain why :D Fallout 3 , but it's a long way from here, probably a couple of years... Dungeon Siege 2 , didn't like the first one, but have a slight hope about the sequel. Maybe because I'm starving for a new game At least the developers promises that they have adressed the shortcomings of the first game. And I trust them " -
Both games have demos if you want to try them out. divine divinity Wizardry 8 I have tried both demos, and I think wizardry was the better one of the two, at least as long as the demos lasted.

Funny, I like this one as well. It's a nintendo commercial from 1987. I really miss those zelda days nintendo

That must be the pink dragon from the abyss, keep up the good work mkreku!

It's fantastic, I have waited for this one (the beholder) , and it exceeded all expectations :D And to you julianw, this is Ugluk the second, the first Ugluks son. The thing on the spike is the famous Bear-rat, feared by even the most skilled warrior. So it's a nice trophy he got himself. And thank you by the way, for your comment about my art
-
Thank you, and I agree, the names are kind of boring. So I decided to rename them, they are now called: (1st one) Calibard IV gets the fingernail of an illithid pierced into his brain. (2nd one) Ugluk Pigskull and Elenora of the great forest approaching the evil witchking Sulex Longbeard. the hardest part is to make up those silly names
-
OK, did another one. Please note that the background is a rushjob, I focused on the characters. It's called halforc and woodelf companions.
-
Maybe a beholder, you know, the flying sphere with a lot of eyes? beholder

Impressive drawings Dragonlord (w00t) ! the pictures called paladin 1 and enchantress were my favourites Oh, and the little dragon was very nice as well, I would love to have that one as a pet I'm getting so inspired now, I think I'm going to make some more drawings myself. I'm posting as soon as they are finished. But it can take a while, it takes a long time for me to finish a big size drawing like the one I posted. So maybe in a couple of days.

Thank you everyone Good work Kaftan, I like his expression Oh no Hooah, I missed the ceremonial spikes, you changed them before I had a chance to see them :D
