  1. HaHa, I finally have my game working thanks to the fine folks over at the Lucas Arts forums.... Actually, they just told me to update drivers. After getting tired of that, I switched from my very old Aureal card to the intergrated sound on the motherboard and the game booted right up.
  2. Well, I got the game installed, but it still won't run as I get a Windows error when I try to play. I've posted my issues over at Lucas Arts. We'll see how that goes.
  3. Know what really chaps my ass. I decided to buy a new copy of the game...and I'm still having problems. Really sucks cause I was able to play the game on this machine when I first got it. At least KOTOR runs as smooth as a whistle.
  4. My theory was always that Revan chopped it off when it was decided who was the master. But yes, Malak lost his lower jaw. I believe there is a scene where you see him without his jaw. As for why I can't stand Malak. He's a coward. First, he stabs Revan in the back by attacking his ship while Revan was prepared to take on four Jedi at once. Then when Revan reaches the Star Forge, he sends everything available at Revan, then he sends Bastila, then he sends more droids, then surrounds himself with dead Jedi before fighting Revan. And he still couldn't win.
  5. Lord Nihilus: <too good for subtitles> That's why he's the man.
  6. My theory.... There is no such thing as "true sith." As Kreia put it, the Sith are a philosophy, not a race. Revan just used it as an excuse because he started to regain memories from his times as Lord Revan and became so wrapped up in guilt, that he ran away from his problems, leaving everyone he knew and loved behind.
  7. For storyline purposes, I would bring back Vandar. Yoda survived Order 66, and I'm sure Vandar is just as resilient as our little green friend from the movies (and probably hides just as well). We need a true master to lead this ragtag group. Revan is still a Knight, as is the Exile. Bastila is technically still a Padawan (though she would probably gain Knight status after KOTOR1, that is if she wasn't looked down upon for falling to the dark side), and then you have a bunch of people running around with a copy of the Idiots Guide to Being a Jedi in their back pocket. So come up with Vandar going into exile on some swamp planet somewhere in the galaxy.
  8. I always felt that with KOTOR3, you should play as a Padawan in the rebuilding Jedi Order after the events of KOTOR2 and have the game take place like 5-10 years after KOTOR2. I had a storyline thought out, but I don't feel like typing it out on here, unless you guys want to hear it. Yes, Revan and Exile would be in it, but they would be in the background more than anything else, except towards the end in the climactic battle to save the Republic. Yes, KOTOR has always been about being able to play LS or DS, but it just doesn't make much sense playing DS.
  9. Try to make connections between real life and kotor. You call your college professor a meatbag.
  10. I can still remember what I said to myself when Bastila said "I love you" in the Star Forge... "I know."
  11. Let's look at each one... Darth Revan - Great tactical leadership. Turned legions of people to the dark side. Began the Jedi Civil War. Was stabbed in the back by his apprentice. Became Jedi Knight Revan again and fell in love with Bastila, which nets him several brownie points. Darth Malak - Unleashes great vengeance and furious anger. Destroyed the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine. However, he's a wuss because he couldn't face Revan like a man. First, launches surprise attack. Then sends the entire Star Forge at Revan, before finally facing him in final combat. Even then, surrounded himself with dead Jedi to feed off to try and outlast Revan. Despite all that, couldn't avoid his untimely end. Darth Traya - The great manipulator. Used the exile to draw the last remaining Jedi Masters to one place and promptly killed them all. Tried to kill the force. Darth Sion - The guy was a walking zombie. Unfortunately, he went all emo there at the end with the help of the exile, and fell apart. Darth Nihilus - The guy nearly destroyed the Jedi Order in one fell swoop from the shadows. Thinks he's too good for subtitles. Unfortunately, 20 seconds of face time detracts from his value. Shoot, Admiral Ozzel got more face time in Empire Strikes Back, though he was gagging for over half of it. Considering that Revan was the only Sith Lord who is still living at the time, I guess it would be fair to say that he was the best Sith Lord.
  12. I finally got around my installation problem (I copied discs 2,3, and 4 directly to the hard drive, and installed that way), but the game still doesn't work. I guess now its time to keep downloading drivers till I find a set that works. This is ticking me off, as the game worked perfectly fine several months ago.
  13. Okay, I decided to reinstall again, and I ran into the same problem, only this time, I documented what happened. I put in disc 1, installation goes smoothly. It asks for disc 2, I put in disc 2 and everything still goes smoothly. Then it asks for disc 3 and then I put the disc in. This is where things start to haywire. At some point during the installation process, this window pops up... Windows - Wrong Volume The wrong volume is in the drive. Please insert volume KOTOR2_1 into drive D:. It then tells me to "cancel" "try again" and "continue". Obviously, not normal. I hit continue, and then this window pops up... Unhandled Exception Error Number: 0x80040707 Description: DLL function call crashed: ISRT._WaitOnDialog Setup will now terminate. To steal a line from C-3PO, I feel so totally helpless.
