And you're probably only about 50% done the game. I managed to beat the main game. Now I "only" have the expansions left. I expect another 50-60 hours. One of the expansions, IMO, works better before the end of the main story. The second one is a nice epilogue type thing as one final quest.

I tried playing my old XBox version of Knights of the Old Republic: Sith Lords on my XBox360, but had to quit early in because every so often there would be a screeching noise from the sound. Not sure if it's because it doesn't play very well on the 360 or what.

I could never get around to finishing it. It wasn't just the combat, either. Something about the story/gameplay didn't pull me in like its predecessor.

The first could even be the unknown Obisidian project, though we know so little about it it does supposedly fit 'new IP' and 'post apoc'; plus THQNordic would seem to be a good fit with Obsidian and there simply aren't that many RPG studios that could do such a project which aren't already doing stuff. OTOH the Obsidian project is probably too early to be 'fully playable' except maybe as a vertical slice. Their second unannounced title sounds interesting as well. Kung-fu fable? Maybe Obsidian is carrying on their tradition of doing BioWare's sequels.

I will throw a fit if I end up buying a new PS4 Pro this fall, only to have the PS5 released sometime next year. And by fit, I mean sob uncontrollably.

You can now have a longer conversation and flirt with a transgender person. That seems to be the thing BioWare decided was most important to fix in a patch.

I had trouble with that series. I read the entire thing, so clearly I got through it, but some of the books were good while others dragged. I think part of it was just the sheer amount of words, that at some point halfway through, everything just kind of all mingled together and I forgot/got confused about a few of the sideplots and characters. I've given up on George Martin ever finishing ASoIF, too. The guy is basically just living off whatever royalties he gets for the show and doesn't seem motivated at all to finish.

I come in here to read about new games recently released, and all I learn about is SonicMage may have some sort of yeast infection.

The least thing that it does is that it runs base games super quiet on a 1080p TV. Then there are games such as Rise of the Tomb Raider, The Surge and some other titles that give you the 1080p@60fps experience. I'd recommend reading Digital Foundry's guide to PS4 Pro game upgrades and seeing if it's worth your while. Thanks!

Anyone who has a PS4 Pro, do I need a 4K TV? I mean, I know technically you don't *need* a 4K TV to use a PS4 Pro, but do you see any advantages on an old school HDTV with the PS4 Pro over the old PS4? I'm trying to figure out whether to get a PS4 Pro or just buy a PS4 slim since I don't have one of those new fancy dandy TVs yet (and probably won't buy one for at least another year or two).

I've had that happen a few times. It's usually the cause for the unfinished games on my game shelf where I took a break from them and then just never got around to finishing them again.
-
I had that happen to me but I was lucky enough to still have warranty. When did you get yours? Three or four years now. Well past the warranty date, in any case.

And yep, it looks like my PS4 is done (or at least needs repairs). I tried all the various fixes listed online and none of them worked for me. PS4 simply refuses to take any game discs (even tried some movies to see if it was some weird PS4 game only issue). I wonder how much it would cost to be repaired? I don't want it replaced with a refurbished one because the PS4 as a whole still works, it's just the disc drive that's acting up.

Another word for that is stalking.

If you are going to buy a PS4 Pro you might want to wait a month or two. I suspect Sony will cut the price of it roughly a month before the launch of the XBox One X, which launches on Nov 7th. I plan to pick one up (if and) when they slash the price. I might do that. There's no games I currently want to play anyway, so unless I opt to get my PS4 fixed, I'll keep putting off buying the PS4 Pro until a price drop.
-
And now my PS4 won't let me put the game discs in. It's reacting as though there's already a disc in there, even though there's not, and none of the fixes I've seen online seem to be working. Good thing there's not really anything pressing I want to play right now. I don't know whether to get the PS4 fixed or just buy a PS4 Pro instead.
-
Do people have short memories? I'm honestly curious because part of what ruins any replays for me is basically remembering every single quest and every single outcome after I've played through before. So instead of any sense of awe, I end up reacting like, "And now he'll say this" or "And now this happens next".

I actually enjoyed FFXII on the PS2. So I was looking forward to the remake.

Not really hard at this point. Final Fantasy is probably the worst JRPG franchise I've played and has been for ages. Edit: After saying that, I could not in good conscience have a pre-order up for Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age. I think I'll see about getting Berseria instead. Hmm TBH, FFXII is not that bad, but they put some changes I do not like in PS4 version compared to original japanese version of Zodiac Job System, which make the game very easy. I am buying FFXII sooner or later, but if I had to choose between FFXII ZA and Tales of Berseria, ToB would win with crazy big margin :-D What changes did they make for the PS4 version of FFXII?

Official E3 Thread (I forged the paperwork)

Another disappointing E3. I'm like Charlie Brown and E3 is Lucy with the football. I keep thinking that maybe this time, but then Lucy pulls the football away at the last moment. -
That's one game I was thinking about getting. I can't remember what turned me off of it. Maybe it was a review that compared it to a game I didn't like? It's often described as a Sci-Fi Dark Souls. So if you like the core mechanic, you should also enjoy The Surge. But it's not like that there are no shortcomings. The main character and the character system is bland. It doesn't offer a lot of build variety and enemy types. Boss fights are not spectacular compared to Dark Souls. Also don't expect a lot of handholding. There is no map, no quest markers and the game doesn't tell you over an over what to do next. But considering that Deck13 is a small developer (70 employees) for an AAA game, or compared to FromSoftware or Team Ninja, they did a pretty fine job. Heh. I wasn't a fan of Dark Souls. I know, blasphemy around here. But that game never pulled me in. I think that was the reason I decided not to try The Surge.
