I've been replaying some of the co-op side missions in Splinter Cell Blacklist trying to master the various play styles. I'm up to 3 Panther masteries and 2 Ghost masteries. Oddly enough, despite the fact I'm more an action gamer than stealth gamer, I've yet to attempt the, um (mind going blank) combat mastery one.

So, my love for the Splinter Cell Spy vs. Merc mode went down the tube after I reached level 10 and could no longer access the "learning group" maps. Now I'm in matches against these level 55 guys who basically know the maps like the back of their hands, and I'm still trying to learn my way around things. Oh well, back to the SP and Co-op portions of the game.

Strangely enough, I'm having quite a bit of fun playing Splinter Cell's Spy versus Mercs online mode. Playing as a spy is pretty fun, but it seems a bit unbalanced in spy's favor. Most maps are dark, and spies can climb walls and such and hide in dark corners. Mercs take a lot more damage, but not enough to offset the spy class. When I play, 80% of my kills are playing as the spy, while the majority of my deaths are playing as a merc.

Finished up the last of Charlie's "sidequests" in Splinter Cell: Blacklist tonight. Earlier in the day I'd finished Kobin and Grim's final sidequests as well. The only 4th Echelon sidequest path I've yet to do is Briggs', but that's because you're forced to do it co-op. There isn't a solo option, unlike the other three which can be done on your own (if you choose; they're also co-op if you want). I'm not sure I want to do the co-op one since none of my friends play SC and I'd have to rely on finding a stranger.

I tend to play video games to have fun, not to feel frustrated. This is why I prefer to play games at their lowest difficulty, if at all possible, because I'm no longer interested in being "frustrated" of having to re-doing sections multiple times.

Grim's missions in Splinter Cell Blacklist certainly bring me back to my frustrations over previous SC games. I was literally 2 bad guys away from finishing her mission, having already reached 2 of the 3 goals and dispatching about 15 hostiles silently, when I was spotted and the mission failed as I was taking down one of the two remaining men. The annoying part was it was due to the slow-motion takedown animation, where the sniper just happened to be looking in my direction as I took his partner down. But I couldn't do anything to duck out of the way because I was already in mid-takedown. Almost an hour's worth of effort down the tubes and the worst part is you have to start right from the beginning.

To be honest, I can't remember a stealth game where you failed the mission as soon as you got spotted. There might be some short content part exception here or there, but a full game... Can't think of any right now. One of the earlier Splinter Cells, I'm pretty sure a mission fails if you get spotted while moving around an office building with security guards and cameras around the place. I remember it being the very reason I never finished that game. I kept getting spotted, or another security guard would spot a body I'd killed and hadn't hidden, or something. Unless I'm totally remembering wrong, but I'm sure I'm not since I remember feeling so frustrated at how unforgiving the game was.

I'm playing Splinter Cell: Blacklist. As someone who usually gets frustrated with stealth games that punish you tremendously for non-stealth approaches, I'm actually having fun with this game. Sure, it's better not to be spotted. But at least I don't constantly get "mission failed" every time I accidentally get seen by one enemy. I know the traditionalists hate that, but I like having a bit more freedom to play a more combat style game than taking everything the stealth route.

Finished my Alpha Protocol play through. Just missed out on that achievement for executing everyone because I let Brayko live (him killing Surkov for me was awesome). I can't get over what a little gem this game is.

Loving my jerk Thorton play through of Alpha Protocol. I'm seeing a lot of dialogue I've never seen before, largely because I'm choosing jerk options that I haven't tried before. The only frustrating part is I never seem to find the full dossiers on the characters. For example, I'm about to start the end game mission, but I'm still not close to finding out Scarlett's secret (even though I know it from reading spoilers way back).

Heh, AP has quite the surprises for you depending on decisions you made. This is the first time I've let Brayko survive, and so this is the first time I've had the option to let Brayko carve up Shurikov. AP got some things wrong, but what they got right is pretty damn impressive.

Decided to go with another Alpha Protocol play through, this time as a real jerk Thorton. I just executed Sis and feel kind of bad about it.

The fact that you even compare the two is alarming But the professional reviewers compared AP to the Splinter Cell games! That's why it got such low marks! You can't possibly be telling me they were wrong?!

And I'm done with Defiance. Reached 2500 EGO tonight. I'm tempted to play Alpha Protocol. Either that or Splinter Cell Blacklist.

Haha, I know the completionist feeling, I am now and then still playing few hours a month to slowly go towards Star Ocean 4 100% Battle Trophies completed. It's going slowly in 3 years I got almost 400 hours played and still minimum 100 to go until getting all that's needed for the rest of trophies I don't know if my completionist side is THAT extreme. Mostly, I'll stick with a game, off and on, within the same calendar year. If I haven't finished some achievements past that point, it's shelved for good unfinished.

Finished off the 100 revives in Defiance to earn that pursuit. Actually had a run of luck tonight with almost no lag during Dark Matter arkfalls. One arkfall I actually got 7 revives. Now I just have to reach 2500 EGO.

The thing that I don't understand is why you play a game when the experience sounds unenjoyable. We are all different of course, so when you describe a situation in a game where you square your shoulders and soldier on, I probably would have uninstalled the game and refreshed the forum a hundred times till I found something else to waste my time with Because I'm a completionist and right now there's a big fat "earn 60 points by reaching 2500 EGO rating" achievement still available to me. Also, when the server is NOT laggy, I actually have a fun time with Defiance. So I play once in a while in hopes I get the rare non-laggy night of gaming in. If it's a game I downright hate, I do give up. I've got quite a few games on my shelf that I didn't bother finishing.

You said that about D3 as well With Diablo III, I decided to finish off the Inferno mode challenges, which I've now done. I won't be touching D3 until the expansion now. With Defiance, there are no other goals even close to achieving, not unless I want to grind for months. And with the lag in that game, that doesn't sound like a fun idea. So when I reach 2500 EGO and the 100 revives, I'm done.

Defiance's servers and lag issues are making me want to go out and punch kittens. I've been trying to finish this stupid arkfall pursuit forever, but when most of the arkfalls turn into laggy things where I literally can't do anything other than log out (and thus miss the rest of the arkfall), it's near impossible. I was especially pissed when the Dark Matter arkfall lagged on me, because that's the one that generates the most revive opportunities. Two goals I have for Defiance then I'll never touch the game again: Reach EGO 2500 and reach 100 revives. I'm currently at 2391 EGO and at 91 revives.

I decided to give Defiance another try in hopes of finishing off a couple of pursuits (or at least moving closer to completing them), and instantly I am reminded about why I gave up on the game. Every single major event I tried to take part in (major arkfall, Volge sieges, etc.), the lag was so bad that I had to keep logging off and trying to log back in. If it weren't for the serious lag issues, it's a decent time-waster game. As it is, it's often more frustrating than fun.

Enjoy. It's a great game. Which reminds me. I need to do my pure d-bag Michael Thorton playthrough eventually. Haha me too. I've yet to play a real jerk Thorton. One of these days I'm going to get around to doing it. I'm on the final act in Diablo III with my Demon Monk. After I finish this, I'll have played and finished every mode available. I'll probably take a break from Diablo III until the expansion comes out.

I'm doing a speed run for my final play through with my Demon Hunter in Diablo III. I'm playing Inferno mode and just doing the main quest stuff without any real exploration, hoping to finish off the remaining achievements that I haven't unlocked yet. I'm at the halfway point, just starting Act III. One of the achievements is equipping my character with all level 60 equipment in all slots. It's bugging me because I just can't seem to find a level 60 amulet. Every other spot is level 60 except for that one, and none of the merchants sell any level 60 amulets, either.

Yeah, the combat in Sleeping Dogs is the single biggest reason I liked it better than the GTA games. If GTA had SD's combat, I'd actually finish the games.

Yes it feels more fluid, especially the run and gun makes you feel like you're playing a 3rd person Call of Duty game. The cover system also makes a return That might be enough to convince me to buy it. Though I still have a backlog of games, so it won't be immediately. But if the combat is better, then at least it's on my radar.

Finally reached level 60 in Diablo III with my Demon Hunter. I managed to find a legendary bow that's ridiculously powerful -- it was literally mowing down the toughest bosses in a couple of seconds -- that has made the fights easy, but now I'm facing a dilemma. I'm just beginning the fourth act and I'm not sure I want to finish it. But the completionist in me is telling me to.
