No. The headgear is automatically removed in conversations (for the PC and followers) and in some cutscenes, but there is no 'turn off helmet' button.

The Chantry oppresses mages by making them wear funny hats. When they release the toolset, I'm making a invisable heargear mod.

My favorite moment so far: The dominant religion in Ferelden is the Chantry, which worships the Maker. Above is an image of my PC (the woman in metal armor) receiving a blessing from a Reverend Mother. The three women behind me are (from left to right) Leliana, Morrigan, and Wynne. I like how their poses in this shot reflects their attitude towards religion. Not really. Morrigan and Alistair are very funny as they constantly snark at one another. Morrigan and Leliana

Four is the magic number, my friend.

I love you BioWare, but why did you make my sword and board warrior solo four mages? It's only a little funny that the fireball that took me out also killed two of the mages. Edit: *laughs* Okay, I see what you did there.
-
Leliana > Zevran. Also: Couldn't Morrigan start out with one AOE attack? Just one? I constantly get opponants in nice bundles that I'd love to lob a fireball at.

I rather like Leliana. The hardest part of the game so far is the 'Morrigan approval' mini-game; the spirit of Viconia is strong in this one. To answer you question, rogues get a skill every level, whichi is nice, and they have access to lockpicking. If you don't create a rogue then you won't get lockpicking until you reach Leliana. This was over ten hours into the game for me. I seem to be going slower than others. Rogues are light fighters; they're good with DW, and if you constantly position them behind monsters, they do nice damage.\ Users on the BioWare Social Network forums are pitching a fit. Every time I glance in there, I find about two dozen people I want to backhand.

You know, I thought this game would be harder. When I met the ogre, I beat him on my first try with no one in the group falling. The only reason anyone came close is that big blue is able to 'ram' someone that is no where near him. Sorry, but ramming the air in front of him should not cause someone behind him and well out of melee range to go flying. I haven't actually encountered any of the bonus content.

I've played for 7 hours now on normal and have not finished the battle of Ostigar. I'm on the third level of the tower now. Cyrena Cousland[/ur]. I hit custom install. I still could not install it 'wherever I liked.' You really think I don't know to hit the custom install button?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me that is not true????? If I have to format c: to clear up space.. I'm going to be utterly incensed! It is not true. Like a lot of games, there are two possibilities - express and custom installs. Custom installs allow you to choose your directory. My OS partition is only 40 gigs wide, so I put it in my game partition, which is 500 gigs wide. Yes, it is true. Why would I lie? I could not install the game to anything but my Program Files directory. And yes, I picked Custom Install.

In regards to the graphics, the textures are at the same level as Mass Effect. However, the areas aren't the size of a shoebox, I don't hit a 'loading' icon constantly, there's far more variety of creatures/looks, and the animations are much better. One of the first things I noticed in the game was an ambiant animation where a guard reached down and plucked something off the ground. Now, I have no idea why that animation was made, but I prefer it to stand/sit/stand while swaying slightly. They still haven't forgiven BioWare for Mass Effect, I think.

She wasn't crazy. The have a shelf full of the CE and half a shelf full of the regular. It says there are custom install settings, but when I try to install it to my Games folder, the 'next' button greys out. If you'd been there exactly at 8 am when they opened, we could have had a moment. Where were you?! I didn't try to install it on my D drive, but see above. I'm running Windows Vista, which might be a factor.

Fry's in Las Vegas has 60 copies of the Collector's Edition and 30 of the regular edition. Rather, they have 59 copies of the CE now. It would only let me install to C:/Program Files. I find that irritating.

My first play through will be as follows: Human female warrior PC. I plan on going sword and shield. I prefer two-handed, but this game looks like it needs a dedicated meat shield and I'll be the only warrior. Champion as my major specialization. Morrigan as my magical damage. I plan to max the shape-shifting tree and then focus on the primal 'blow the crap out of them' spells. Wynne as my healer. I'll max the spirit healer and creation (or is it spirit) line with the healing in it. After that, I'll focus on developing her into a buffer/debuffer. (Entropy?) Leliana as my rogue. Because I want to open chests and redheads are better than saucy, blonde elves. I'll probably go duel wielding with her, as I already have two ranged types.

Of course. It has It's set the bar for years to come.

I don't have the game. I called Fry's and asked if they had Dragon Age: Origns CE for the PC. The lady said 'yes.' I drove over, the lady said 'I mean tomorrow. Come back tomorrow at 8am.' "Are you sure you have the Collector's Edition?" I ask. "Yes, we have 60 copies!" she replies, while showing me a picture of the regular edition. "The Collector's Edition?" "60 copies!"

Purkake, I'd kiss you if you weren't a dude.

You mean you have other options outside of those two? So what are they? I'm not sure what you mean. I get the majority of information about a game from those who've played and (not) enjoyed it. I don't think a demo tells you how good an 80 hour game is at all. Oblivion was great for the first 8 hours. Assassin's Creed was good for the first act. Risen was great until it became a grind. I consider a demo a far poorer source of information than the opinion of other players or previous games from the same company.

That DRM would be 'disk check.'

Indeed, console leaks are common. It was only illegal for me to download because I was under 18. I am sure the first is true, but I was refering to the second. There is a specific DLC team, and they plan on making an expansion as well as regular adventures. It's a bad joke. With insta-kill on, it takes 12 hours to finish.
-
I'll wager that the inevitable "Dragon Age community expansion pack" will be better than Bioware's "two years worth of DLC." This is possible, though they have an expansion planned as DLC.
