  1. I live in Las Vegas, but have no idea how to play poker.
  2. Am I to infer that you'd like one of us to respond to your previous post?
  3. Dark Raven: "Any how I like sequels to my favorite games. " I dislike nostalgia and the fan desire to see the same old thing. I think it's unfortunate that Bethesda has the Fallout license, but that's not because I hate the idea of Fallout being in first person or of anyone other than Black Isle castaways making it. The poor quality of the Pirates of the Caribbean and Call of Cthulhu were indicative of Bethesda's tendency to favor TES franchise. Neither of them were AAA games, which is what I'd like FO 3 to be, because Bethesda saves its 'best' for Elder Scrolls. In regards to the Alien RPG, I enjoy Giger's work - I have two books of his artwork, and a friend of mine created a nifty collage of his work that I have framed and hung on the wall opposite my bed - and I think the Aliens movie is one of the greatest in cinema. The design work, the score, the setting, the narrative structure, and the nature of the threat all contribute to the unrelenting intensity of the film. As a rule, I dislike horror movies, but I consider Aliens to be a work of art. The Fallout and KotOR franchises both rest comfortably within a well-established cRPG paradigms. An Aliens RPG need not, nor will it be built and played in the shadow of a previous game.
  4. Cutscene defeats suck. The PC should be mercilessly slaughtered in game until they get the hint. If there's any cutscene, it should be of a monster snacking down on their viscera afterwards. I hope there's a scene like that in ME.
  5. Speaking of money, I bought Total Racing Unlimited. Now, to find space on my hard drive. Say goodnight, Jade Empire.
  6. Dark_Raven: "Nah. Keeping sequels to those games = good." I think an Aliens RPG would be better. (hearts my avatar) "OMFG! Fallout on the Nintendo?? What the hell is this world coming to? " PC-centric thinking is so two gens ago. FO on the Wii!!
  7. But is it a Brujah or Malky?
  8. I sometimes do that with books I buy. I find I hate them, but feel the need to read the entire thing. Though, I've never had a book last 40 hours.
  9. Xard: " Visuals worse? Ehm... no, not at all. And this isn't about opinion." I'd be rather ashamed of myself if I wrote something like this. Assuming you know the difference between opinion and fact, I have to wonder at the level of denial it takes to suggest the visuals being better on the PC is anything but opinion. Especially, as you have no idea what Jade Empire looks like on my PC or my TV. Moreover, what makes you think that anyone would believe a claim that is so blatantly false? Of course it's an opinion. It's not possible for it to be anything other than an opinion. If you got all 6.5 billion people in the world to say that the visuals for Jade Empire looked better on PC, it would still be an opinion. Nightshade: " I don't enjoy playing games on a controller, never have never will
  10. Fallout - three years in the making, over a decade in the dying.
  11. Volourn: "Anyways, Obsidian should move on from KOTOR, FO, or IWD. The possiblity of Warhammer (though I'm not a big fan of it as others are, it's alright), or PA game I'd be cool with. " Seriously. Just toss that gorilla filled wardrobe out the window, it's cluttering your space.
  12. I like the werewolf attack in Bloodlines, and I wouldn't consider that a forced failure. A forced failure would be if I was trying to escape from the beasties and couldn't.
  13. Yes, I know Co-op isn't PvP.
  14. Musopticon: "Or that you just don't have friends aka co-op." My experiences with PvP were less that superb. Not only was I constantly beaten by someone a decade younger than myself, but I found I tend to use obscenities, which is not good when you're babysitting a 9 year old and a 14 year old.
  15. Might I suggest, based on the "I hate controllers" statement, that your evaluation of the interface on the PC versus the X-Box version might have a moderate to significant bias? As for the graphics, as I've said, I have a Ratheon. The developers on the tech support page have stated they took away some of the game's graphic options from that family of cards because of the number of difficulties they encountered with it. As such, it's quite possible I'm not getting the optimal PC visual experience. In answer to your question, I do so to support a game I enjoy in the hopes of seeing a sequel, and to support a publisher's/developer's decision to port to PC. What do you think about HALO as an example of its genre?
  16. I could do that. Though, at this point, it's not worth it to me. When I talk about the experience of playing a game on a computer versus a console, I'll use each system's default interface, a keyboard and mouse for a computer and a controller for an X-Box. That's not to say that using a controller for a computer game is bad or inferior idea.
  17. Hurlshot: "1. Maybe the controller is preferable to a mouse and keyboard for this user, and they don't want to buy a PC controller." It depends on the game. I'd say that keyboard and mouse isn't as nice as a controller for this game. For instence, if I wanted to roll to the left on the X-box, I would press the left stick to the left and tap the X. On the keyboard, I have to double tap the A. This means that if I'm already moving left (holding A down), I have to stop then double tap. And I've found that 50% of the time, my character will just move left a step instead of rolling, and I have to double tap it again to get the roll to happen. Likewise, I try to keep my ring, middle, and index finger on the A,W,D keys while fighting. The game 'locks on' to a single opponent at a time. On the controller, I squeezed the right or left trigger to change what opponent I focused on. On the keyboard, I have to tap the TAB key, but my pinky hovers over the CAPS key. When my brain says, "tap the TAB key" my hand responds by trying to lift my fingers from the A,W,D so my ring finger can tap it. Failing that, it twists slightly, letting the pinky flail as best it can and sometimes hitting the TAB key, but other times hitting the CAPS. Of course, this doesn't compare to the pain of stealth games where you have to hold down the SHIFT or CTRL button for long periods. Given that many appear to be comfortable with this set up, I wonder if my pinky might just be stubby and weak. "2. Maybe they have a nice HDTV that thier monitor doesn't compare to." I have a regulare TV, but perhaps the graphics don't like my ATI Radeon. "4. Maybe, after almost 2 years, the user feels the game is showing its age." That might be it. I still remember every quest and side quest as well, so there's little new to entice me.
  18. I'm to the imperial city, and so far, the only new feature I've seen is a rhino demon. In addition, the controls aren't as responsive, the visuals aren't as nice, they've changed the camera slightly, and I'm noticing a slight pause after each spoken dialogue that wasn't there before. Therefore, it's like the original, but not quite as nice. The only plus for the PC version is the possibility of modding the game using the NWN/NWN2 toolset.
  19. Roshan: " What exactly do you mean by this?" " ****. I just looked at my join date and realized that Ive been waiting over three years for Obsidian to make a Fallout/Torment style RPG with none in sight. The situation is truly hopeless....." Exactly. I was disappointed in their sequel to Knights of the Old Republic. After that, I lowered my expectations and have not been disappointed since.
  20. mkreku, I don't love cars, but I'll pick it up if i can find it at Fries. karka, Okami is a game I'd love to have come out for the PC.
  21. "Between the Devil and the deep blue sea" means to be caught between two equally unpleasant dangers.
  22. A man after my own heart. Dreamfall 2 will come out.. someday... maybe. Keep the faith!
  23. Hmm, Jade Empire is to China what the Forgotten Realms is to France. Actual Chinese would have been out of place. I agree that it's a good game, but I'm still disappointed that the PC port isn't as good as the original.
  24. Can anyone suggest a PC game to me? Am bored.
