  1. Dark Raven: " I ended up killing them, gained 9 evil points for the dialogue options I chose and lose influence with the two good aligned npcs. So this act is evil?" Well, yes. The last time I checked, murder is considered evil. " Khelgar said they would not last the night, so by killing them, this would be a mercy killing. Why allow them to suffer a slow death when you can speed it along. This is not evil." Is Khelgar a physician? Does Khelgar *know* that *every* one of them is going to die? Do you? Here's a situation: Dark Raven has fallen down the stairs and broken her back when Maria and Darque come upon her. Darque says, "DR is in so much pain and it's obvious she's going to die," so Maria lops DR's head off. There are a number of problems here; first off, Darque does not know the future, secondly, and more importantly, Maria did not check with DR to see if DR was fine with having her head chopped off. Maria simply assumed she knew what was best for DR and DR's opinion of what was best mattered jack all. On the other hand, there's someone in the game who says that they are suffering horribly and so asks you to kill them. When you do so, you get good points.
  2. I fear everyone else has abandoned the topic. For Sand, I just uploaded a Kobold Race Mod to the Vault and it should be appearing in the next few days. Enjoy.
  3. Perhaps it's just our definition of silly that's the issue. There are times when I mentally step back while hacking through my hundredth goblin as dark elf wizards toss spells at me in the middle of a brightly lit cavern during my journey to gather the parts of the holy waffle necessary to fight the evil King of Syrup and think to myself, "This is absurd."
  4. Well, it is silly. Just like four tiny people saving the world by tossing a ring into a volcano is silly, or four children helping a talking lion save a world from eternal winter is silly, or even the idea of enormous, centuries old flying lizards that spit fire and horde gold. You need a high suspension of disbelief to enjoy D&D. The question is how far you're willing to take that suspension. I'm not saying that my stance is the right one but underground mountains don
  5. Volourn, that was my point. The underdark is nothing like a real underground area, which is why I'm not surprised to see things I would find out of place in the real world.
  6. Yes. Then again, we're talking about a game where a sprawling race of evil, black-skinned elves live underground yet never has to worry about food, water, air, or space. I wouldn't be surprised to come upon a tropical rainforest underground in a NWN2 mod
  7. I've been contemplating the caves and the interior verses exterior area creation of one. I realized that I've been coming at this as a moder who primarily creates single player games and not as someone creating for a persistent world. One huge benefit of using interior tiles is that they take up far less memory. On the BioBoards the other day, I compared interior tiles to exterior terrain the other day and found that a 12x12 interior with 37 badgers and 30 altars was 2,746 kbs while a 12x12 exterior with nothing in it was 17,769 kbs. That's a huge difference, especially when you're talking about PWs.
  8. alanschu: "I'm not too familiar with the online persistent worlds, but what exactly are you guys talking about when you say "pathfinding?" The walkmesh that the toolset creates when you bake an area.
  9. 1: Pathfinding is something the mod creator controls. I have several areas in my mods where you can walk wherever you wish in the area. Yes, you have to download something for persistent worlds. Given that everyone playing has to have a broadband connection, I don't think this is a horrible thing to demand. If you want to play a module, you have to download it and any associated files. If you want to play on a server, you have to have certain files as well. 2. I haven't had this problem. 4. I don't remember the original NWN having more armors. Playing around in the item creation screen, I've found that each part of the body generally has around fifteen different selections, all of which can be given their own coloring. 5. No, I don't remember that. 10. I can understand your frustration as the shear number of images on one screen makes it hard to pick one. On the other hand, it makes my custom images much easier to make. I think it would have been nice if the image size was 60x60 instead of 40x40. 11. Good point. 12. Another good point. 14. Patch 1.03 helped with this issue but I'm getting quite a bit of lag. 16. I can't comment on this. However, fonts are customizable, as is every graphical aspect of the gui. Have you tried asking the person who's managing your PW to alter them? 21. The pause button is your friend. 31. Chaotic stupid should never be supported. 37. This is not an issue. However, there's already a nude hak available if you *have* to see Neeshka's soft and jigglies. 42. Hmm, I disagree. Especially when compared to the original NWN. However, it's no Oblivion.
  10. On to --> # 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, 21, 31, 37, and 42.
  11. "Cheap?" It's superior to any tileset method. Unless you're talking about a mine, subterranean areas are created by natural forces and rarely display the artifice one saw in NWN's cave settings. Using a terrain editor to simulate an underground editor is far more logical than tileset. So, if you don't mod, why basis do you have for judging the ease of creating custom content and the toolset? As someone who's actually part of the modding community, I find it odd that you presume to understand these things when it seems your only knowledge of them comes from you opened up the toolset and playing around a bit.
  12. As long as you can adequately simulate the environment you desire, I don't understand the problem. No, it's not the entirety of your list, but as you considered that oversight to be a game ender, I thought you might be happy to know that the situation was not as negative as you seemed to believe.
  13. I'm sorry. I thought your point of contention was that you couldn't create a suitably realistic cave like environment with elevations. Darque's idea was wonderful way to address this. Yes, I was worried that the image wasn't clear
  14. The patches have solved a number of performance issues, though I weep for people with dial-up. It is harder to create modules with the Neverwinter Night's 2 toolset than it is with the one BioWare created. It is not made with the casual user in mind and I think it has a steeper learning curve than BioWare's. However, I disagree that creating custom content is harder. As for the cave debate, I decided to see if I could create a suitably subterranean appearing exterior with some elevations. I think it's adequate.
  15. ~sigh~ It didn't work. I was able to create a lizardman subrace but that was when I had the humanoid_reptilian subrace pointing at the elves. I can't figure out what the error is here. *seppuku* That said, you can alter the unused Humanoid_Reptilian line in racialsubtypes.2da and it doesn't change (as far as I've been able to tell) NPC Humanoid_Reptilians.
  16. Yes, you can give them race related traits (I gave the lizard man +2 str, +2 con, -2 int, and darkvision, their favored class is druid). No, I didn't have to nix an existing subclass. Yep, I'll be writing a 'how to..'
  17. I'm halfway to monster PCs.
  18. I'm sorry Tigranes but... I don't think I can be your friend anymore.
  19. Everything is cool?
  20. When you were talking about lagging, I thought might be low RAM but you appear to have enough. An EOF error wouldn't have anything to do with CPU usage. For whatever reason, the toolset might not be reading or writing the .mod files correctly. I'm checking the BioBoards as I've seen number of errors dealt with there.. so far, no luck.
  21. Oh, then you should be doing much better than I am. Your RAM and harddrive are larger. Do you have any other programs running? If you scroll to the very bottom of the textures, there should be a list of ones used in that area. Also, I believe if you use the color function and paint them white, that deletes the current texture. Interiors are interesting. I've almost gotten the hang of the tiles but in almost every area, I run around in it and find an error.
  22. Dark Raven: "Thought I tried that and it was still greyed out. I'll try it again." I just tried it with Chain Boots. A new, bolded instance of Chain Boots appeared at the end of the Armor -> Boots menu and I could edit its properties.
  23. Tigranes, How much RAM do you have? Also, the Neverwinter Night's folder it's saving to is in your My Documents folder, how much space do you have there? I created a rather sparse exterior area and the mod it's in is 13 MB.
  24. Sargallath: " ...what happened to the Wizards fer quick item/creature/etc creation or the viewscreen ta show ya the final product; whose braindead idea was it ta leave them out??..." Yeah, the wizards were nice. However, community members have created plug-ins that mimic the item creation and creature creation wizards. RDR Item Creation Wizard The Grinning Fool's Creature Creation Wizard While I've had trouble using them, others have not. Check them out and see if they help. Tigranes: " The camera movement is stupid and should have been arrow keys, but I can live with that. " Camera Mod Plug-in It lets you map the camera control to the keyboard.
