TSL Restoration Project: Work in Progress
Dashus replied to Aurora's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It will be released as an installer so that it 1) Doesn't conflict with your other mods and 2) There are so many files and so many places to put them that it would be alot easier on both the downloader and creators to just make an installer. So, yeah. Probably like a patch. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It might still conflict with other mods; we're not even thinking about that can of worms yet. What the installer does is give people a way to cleanly uninstall the mod (which, while we like to think it won't, we know will happen). We're planning on distributing the auto-updater with both the manual and auto-installs. Just to reiterate what is already there because we know someone is gonna ask without reading: Team Gizka is not doing M4-78. This is a separate group of our forum members who wanted to try it. -

Partly because he's on the IRC channel the majority of the time and mostly because he's our webmaster and is on our IRC channel the majority of the time. -

The original plan was to simply replace the PC music files with those from the XBox. The XBox version actually has higher quality audio and for some reason they reduced the quality when they did the PC version. If by the time the project is finished there's still no music/video patch we'll consider the audio stuff. -

I've tested it for firefox...it seems to work ok for me. Check the Help board and read the "Passwords" thread for info on what to do. -

Yeah the default is a bit "busy." In your profile you can change it to something else; the most popular seems to be sub-silver. -

Watch the wip page-if all of those aren't equal to 100% then we're not done As for the lack of updates recently, there's been a lack of progress recently. Again real-life rears its ugly head as summer rolls along. -

Aur asked a couple of questions when we first got started but got no response so we took the hint and decided it was best not to prod any beast that could shut us down. The team likely signed Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA's) when they landed the project and that, we presume, is why they couldn't tell us anything even if they wanted to. Distributing any information would likely be a violation of copyright as well. -

Huh; I coulda sworn I posted over here just yesterday asking people to help us figure out what languages this game is in. Maybe not...anywho; it's here (If a dev wants to jump in and tell us what languages K2 is in that would great ) -

I was talking about a possible LA ExpansionPack/Bug fix as everyone else was. The only mention I made of our project was to say I would hate to see our efforts on it wasted if LA were to release such a product. -

An expansion pack which fixes bugs and alters plot in a game would be a first in the industry. It would also rile those who bought the game expecting a complete story and who now discover that they have to pay $20 more to get it. That would not be a smart PR move. If anything it would be downloadable. The update to go from my installed version of NWN, straight from disc, to current (1.66) is ~40MB so large patches aren't unheard of. Of course given that we've worked for 5 months on this now, it would a major downer to see our efforts precluded by such a patch -

We don't mind the messing with the fanfolk; we're just asking people to not spread rumors they know to be false. It simply causes more headaches than it's worth. -

They are? Did I miss something on the WIP page?......no....I didn't....what WIP page are you looking at? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The invisible WIP page, visible only to rumor starters who don't quite seem to understand that it's hard enough to control how the information *we* release is interpreted, much less information someone else releases, especialy when it's blatantly false. I knew it was in jest from the smiley, but there will be people that will misinterpret everything, so if y'all could refrain from doing this from now on that'd really be helpful. Thanks. -

So we (see: I) have learned 2 things: 1) BitTorrent is indeed very fast and 2) BitTorrent is so fast because it drains your outgoing and incoming data to the point where uploading to PCGM implodes. Movie now also available here  -

One at a time, and awaaayy we go  This is the most efficient: for our bandwidth. If we released this through the website every download would burn 3.20MB even 7zipped. Every download we provide gets approximately 700-1000 hits per day for approximately a week and then begins to taper off. Assuming this isn't a popular download and we get 5000 hits in that first week: 5000*3.2MB = 16000MB = 16GB of bandwidth. We're not willing to burn that much bandwidth. We've tried pcgamemods and their uploader (both old and new) chokes on anything more than ~1MB. We'll look into other solutions but don't count on one soon, especially seeing as this is a non-essential extra. This long version will not be included with the final version as it would approximately double the size of the mod if we did. This is just the extended version as we had originaly planned (before we realized it would double our download size) Actually says most tests most've ever done Provided there are seeds (we guarantee 2 on this one) it will almost always be faster. We don't have any framerate issues when playing on any of our computers. It was captured at 30fps; could try downloading again. Also note that the bik player seems extremely sensitive to CPU usage, so you might also try shutting down CPU hogs. -

Long version of introductory movie is now available in the downloads section of the website. (Note: Requires a BitTorrent Client. We recommend Arctic.) -

In terms of actual file space, unpacked ~50MB (though again this number could change as we're adding and removing things to do). The download size we hope to be around 5MB. While we agreed not to try to record new VO for characters that already existed, we also agreed that no lines would be without VO. In a game in which every line is voiced a line without voicing is distinctly noticable (in a not-so-good way). -

None have responded As we stated here the progress bars apply only to the individual modules and cannot be averaged accurately (hence the absence of a "Total Percentage Complete" bar). As for whether people will move on-that's their decision. We'll continue to toil in hopes of achieving some semblance of the original vision for those that are interested. If that happens to be only us-so be it
