  2. Lua is a decent language once you get over the couple bumps it has. Nwscript seems an odd choice given that if you want to write your own byte code interpreter you'd have to first learn what the byte code is; that's a lot of byte code to learn. Especially when you could just write your own language, parser, interface, and all and know, predicatably, what's going to happen. Nwscript also has at least 2 known quirks (using nwnnsscomp anyway): 1) shortcircuiting does not work and 2) switch statements are bugged. It would be far easier to make your own language than have to learn over the course of a few hours (like TSLRP did for the switch statement) that the stack isn't being restored properly leading to erratic behavior unless you encase all statements in a case within a block .
  3. First batch of beta team invites (3 of them in total) went out this afternoon. We'll let everybody know who the 3 are once we get 3 acceptances.
  4. And coincidental, by the description of the bugs, it appears to be some of the Malachor V scenes. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 301 is Nar Shaddaa actually; 9xx are malachor/core modules. The scene right before the player meets Mira where Atton tells the player to be careful in the Jekk Jekk Tar was supposed to play only with high influence, with another scene playing with mid or low influence. The check (and the underlying scripting for the alternate scene) was never set up.

  6. No new usable items have been added (and we don't currently have any plans to), with the exception of hk's uber rifle.

  9. We can't give an estimate. Period. Things change from week to week making it impossible to guage anything accurately. As we've said before: some people will be intelligent and take any guess we give as just that: a guess. But too many would take it as a date set in stone leading to a whole can of worms we're not even gonna touch.
  10. They're just "Unresolved." We're sure that some of the issues that come up (not neccesarily the ones shown in the picture) will be intractable. In those cases we just come up with a diferent way to do whatever it is we're trying to do.
  11. Absolutely no clue; we're really not following any console developments as we're primarily PC gamers. As we've said we'll look into it all later.
  12. All that is hard coded so we couldn't change it if we wanted to. Well , we could change it, but that would break our EULA.

  14. Just a quick update. On Builds & Bugs: We've established a bug tracking system for felix and (eventually) the beta testers to use. Hence the current lag between builds. On Beta Testers: We'll be choosing beta testers from the forums. It's really just a matter of who we think would be a good tester. At this point we figure there'll be 12 beta testers give or take. There is no current timetable for when the beta testers will be chosen.
  15. Obsidian hires the actors; they don't employ them full time. And the only VO we're adding (well not WE per say but someone with actual ability to voice act) is for a character that didn't have a voice before. We've asked for notes before and suspect NDA's come into play.
  16. Just a bugged transition from 221 to 298. Maybe we'll start updating the build post to give an idea of what gets fixed from build to build.

  18. They've never gone down as far as I know (though we may well be in some sort of modding wormhole so I wouldn't rule out time reversal entirely). 232TEL was added.
  19. "How much"? Depends on what your measuring stick is. We don't sit down to mod thinking "OK I'm gonna make 5 scripts tonight." It's more like: "OK I need to make Mira not hover near or be impaled by Hanharr's arm. How the hell do I do that reliably?" Then you spend the next 3 or 4 hours trying 1 thing after another to get to that goal. Sometimes you do sometimes you don't.
  20. I'm actually an intern for the next 6 months. But when I'm in school, modding is a late night affair, usually 9 or 10PM - 1AM.

  22. What magazine are you reading? Because I'd say they threw a dart at a calendar. Only a member of the team will say when it's close to release. That announcement will be posted here in this thread, at our forums and over at the Holowan forums. If you hear from anyone that a release date has been announced and you can't find a thread on our boards then that person is lying and/or made it up. (Posted at Team-Gizka's website.) I wonder if this mod will be an exclusive release, and only particular people will be able to download the mod? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That post of mine is in a thread called "Possible Beta Tester"...I was referring to the informal qualifications of being a beta-tester... It will be a very public release with at least 2 websites hosting it.
