Will it be localized in Russia?
ichpokhudezh replied to waiveddreams's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
after a 1 min googling: secure.gameswarehouse.com.au - au$39 + international airmail shipping (money orders accepted) ps. don't ask me what is the exchange rate - i'm not australian. pps. I wonder if they would make a (male hen)ney-localized version. It would be a riot for sure, I'm buying it.... ppps. ****e, obsidian's lang filter HATES brits ) -
Interesting question. I don't think I saw something in the sw rulebook on this matter. In KotOR I, you've never changed you class, actually, your 'alignment' notwithstanding. It should be in the DS rulebook, I presume. I would guess, this depends on wheter developers consider Sith and Jedi to be different classes. If so, than you'll need to multiclass into a Sith. More likely though the PC would flip-flop between 'Sith' and 'Jedi' based on the current alignment.

Suggestions for a better sentinel.
ichpokhudezh replied to OrganisedChaos's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Screw that constant fighting. How about a given Force Camouflage (+5 to current stealth level), Awareness +5, Demolition & Security +5, Persuade +5, a free Stun and Affect Mind. Add an ability to use Affect Mind on enemies ('reds') to make them neutrals ('blues') and getting xp for this (preferrably more xp than a murder brings in). How about dropping whole attackable/non-attackable statuses and having aggressive/non-agressive statuses, with DS points for initiating an attack on an non-aggressive target (and scripts to help story-bearing chars to escape destruction)? How about Drain/Fear/Plague/Kill giving a DS point every time they are used? (nb: I know that Lightning is supposed to do that too, it doesn't seem to make much sense to me in a hack-and-slash game) -
Something that bugged me
ichpokhudezh replied to Master Jedi's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
SF per se does not give 'extra strength'. SF feeds on the Force through Force-sensitive individuals. As some kind of a parasite, it stimulates any Force user to become more sensitive and 'productive'. Thus, SF would be able, most probably, to make a run-of-the-mill Jedi a better Force user as well. But since SF is an instrument of aggression and unlikely to be sought after by the peace-loving Force adepts, DS customers were, naturally, in majority. -

Hopefully, it's not the '$||1+ we won't make it! Let's prioritize and scale down!' kind of time. -
Questions to Dev's - take 3
ichpokhudezh replied to Hydrogen's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
True. And it felt awkward listening to that conversation. Nevertheless, our stately anti-hero in a red uniform is not to blame. This brings up a question to devs, though. Do many of scripted encounters depend on stats/skills/abilities/skills of characters, otherwise unattainable/unusable/unapplicable/etc? -

That's right. I don't see how Malak could have said anything other than this pertaining to the Calo Nord's presumed encounter with a Jedi (i.e. Bastila). By 'you' do you mean me? It was not my line. It's Malak's. It would be completely wrong to judge it by the information available to you, me, or even to Malak's later knowledge, imo. 'Pretty guaranteed' is nonsense. '9 of 10' is a bogus fact. Let's move on and conclude that you've meant 'most of the playthroughs Carth will be present at your encounters with Calo Nord'. It's, most probably, unknown, if I have understood you correctly. Ok, let's say PC had been spotted with a guy by some informant or Calo himself. How would Calo Nord know the guy is Carth Onasi? He doesn't wear a badge, no 'WANTED' posters on the wall. He should be just a guy, associated with Bastila through a third party (PC). This is way off-topic. If you'd like, we can continue that in a new thread. Or better yet, you can look up info in bioware's forum archive - there were a lot of discussions about story inconsistencies. -

Pretty guaranteed? That's not good enough. Actually, that's pretty ugly, as far as arguments can be. edit: PC can be alone at both Lower Cantina/ Lower apts, and the PC+Canderous is the minimum party at the Davik's estate. edit: anyhow, your reasoning does not explain the identification piece. -

[offtopic] I'll check, if you want me to, but as I remember it was M: 'Who assisted her' S:'a decorated war hero' M:'Interesting. How did you obtain this info?' and so on and so forth. As for Bastila - she was M's original target on Taris, was she not? So Malak's lines are good and sound, imo. If you'd ask how did Carth get identified at all, that'd be teh meestary.I say, give BW a slap when they deserve it, give them the benefit of the doubt otherwise. [/offtopic] -

As of that moment Malak knows nothing of the Davik Kang's final encounter so his question is quite understandable. It seems that Calo Nord uses the opportunity to unduly stress his steadfastness. -

Questions: 1. Are LS protection powers going to stay nerfed? (Force Aura-Force Armor)? 20 sec is quite useless as it is now. 2. Will it be possible to use Affect/Dominate in/before a battle to calm an enemy (preferably getting xp for this as well)? 3. Will Force Camouflage be a common power and/or better yet, be free/given to sentinels? 4. Will lightsaber throwing remain the FP hog as it is now? Thanks. -
Where does extra 6 points come from? I can count up to 520. (sf robes + saresh's + ls mastery + mvalor + start at Wis18/Cha16, level ups Wis+4/Cha+1). I don't think 18/18 start is possible, and if it is, i believe it would give 536FP.

White-haired chick certainly looks rather off-balance to me. Now a question to you as the MA-literate - how's this scenario: (M - masked guy, W - white-haired chick, C-column): 1. M_C ___W (walks briskly with her lightsaber sheathed/off and on her left side) 2. __C M_W (turns lightsaber on and flicks it with her elbow and wrist as a distraction while she tries to evade him by rolling away from the column toward spectators) Thus, she's not attacking and M is able to read and deflect the blow very easily. M (it seems) cannot attack her right away so she might have enough time to roll away and cover her head after that.

Be a Sith recruiter!
ichpokhudezh replied to Ivan the Terrible's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Sith as they are 'explained' by the game text and 'prominent examples' are chaotic evil. A power structure based on this would be rather unstable. But, on the other hand, the general line of events and behavior of your regular Sith trooper shows that the system is more of lawful evil type (which corresponds to my understanding of the 'true' Sith society as the heavily rank-based one). So if you skip that dumbed-down/teenager/maniac interpretation of a Sith as brutality show-offs/dominance junkies, the recruiting for lower rank will be quite easy. The same one that had worked for Wehrmacht/Red Army. Improve current status, become respected by your peers, be feared by your enemies, get privileges @home, get loot from annexed properties, etc. -
I didn't know Cathar had canine pets.

Know what - Revan's facial features? Revan's exterior features don't strike me as something particular (unlike Malak's ) So while Revan was mostly wearing helmet it is quite possible that images of Revan (maybe, of a younger face, but still) were available at some prior moment. But that's as shaky as a base as a jello could ever dream to be... Drakron's explanation is more realistic in this case. In regards to the other option, Calo guessing that something is fishy about PC. First, if one is a multi-world famous bounty hunter, one is bound to need to maintain some connections and stay current with stuff. It's not like a total stranger's win in the race and following stuff was not talked about, Revans persona must have been a rumor staple in certain circles. Also include here the serum business, duel ring, Sith Base break-in, bounties... Even Davik recognizes you as a prominent local figure, for Pete's sake...
-
Ok, these are not plot holes. It's your deficit of attention speaking. Play again the Malak scene @Leviathan, read the full dialog tree. a. Watch again the movie of Dantooine's Star Map. b. talk to Yuuthura about Revan Mildly valid, though, normal ppl would seek some shelter in case of a space battle nearby and the following major fallout (of escape pods), don't you think? And what if they did see you? Sith troopers had been looking for survivors, hadn't they? This, actually, could mean that Calo Nord was not just an ignorant bastard, and was either a) familiar with Revan's facial features B) made the same as Bastila conclusion about you.
-
it seems youve never played kotor1 before, or you just skipped all the dialogue. Gee, in the cases like this ppl@bioware forums start throwing 'stupid's back and forth. Sad, but funny.

will anything be added to deepen the combat?
ichpokhudezh replied to Logain_Ablar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Lookin fer a good fite, eh? Check Sith Governor (on Taris) out for some serious one-on-one action. ps. After that, Bendak felt like hunting a lame chicken with a bazooka... B) -
Well, Chemix, I and, most probably, sales staff is with you on this one. Hack and slash sell better. But it would be nice to have alternative (to pure violence) ways to solve quests. And while I don't think DS should become as menacing as it is in the d20, but an option for a 'rpg-esque' style when you start out clean, get DSP for each new DS force power you've used or evil act committed and have to give up an attribute point to remove a DSP would be quite welcome, imo. No LSP, plz.
-
Hehe. Chemix, in SW RPG even an innocent or intended as a joke Force Push (Strike+Move, actually), like the one Bastila gave to Mission, on any sentient being earns you char a Dark Side point. EDIT: not that I proclaim that a video game should follow the same ruleset, but I'd like to have an option (or, better yet, multiple options) for a non-violent/low-violence solution in most cases.

See, this is what bothers me a lot in KotOR. How are you supposed to play LS at all if your main source of xp/money is murder?... Why using Dominate Mind to make somebody do something is bad (or a reason to be scorned) while excercising my offensive power for minute goals (a medpack, a few credits) is ok? Please mind that although I destroy foes I still destroy life (EDIT: thus, go against the Force, thus fall to DS, ergo should get DS points from a GM). Kind of takes the 'RP' out of 'RPG' for me. But I sort of realize that I belong to a minority of players.

Now that you mentioned this, I have realized that a game disk would better represent the concept of 'she' than the concept of 'he'... Not that I would work up the courage to imagine anyone to go amorous on it.... Did I say it out loud?!...

There's another cRPG I lust for: Vamprire Bloodlines. Here's a FAQ on some upcoming features. I especially loved the distinction of getting police attention versus breaking masquerade. Something like this (like, being recognized as Jedi by NPCs if wearing a lightsaber) would fit very well the KotOR setting...
