This was in response to this. It's interesting to note that all the Kazakhstani scenes were filmed in Romania and in Romanian. Borat - Republican Meeting

It is as current today as it has ever been, if war is archaic than so is peace, just two sides of the same coin, the conflict and the resolution. The conflict brings progress, the resolution maintains it. Killing other humans is the outcome not the cause, it's easier to murder a lunatic than to reshape his entire perspective. Please don't bring religion into this, it's the madman's most valuable pretext, often but a simple footnote in one's bellicose beliefs, the religious are simply used to fulfill someone's grand plans, and if those plans consist of killing millions of heretics it is not just because the head Butcher wants to see blood, no, what he wants is power, and to gain power he must first get rid of the competition, killing here is simply an easy way of attaining one's goals. Better for whom? No, violence is part of the natural world, rationality needs violence because violence is wholly rational. It is only a way of getting things done. I don't want to be godlike.

I think that quote is merely attributed to Patton, and if he did indeed recite it, it was to a bunch of unsophisticated grunts. Were you expecting philosophical enunciations of the utmost verbosity? The world has achieved brilliance without wisdom, power without conscience. Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants. We know more about war that we know about peace, more about killing that we know about living. - Omar Bradley - Damn you Meta!

How should I know, I was just trying to say they make soulless boring music. Perhaps a more suitable analogy would have been "Fort Minor are to rap what Linkin Park are to Metal". Mmm yes. The Dwarves - How To Win Friends And Influence People

I too am quite happy for someone else to die in my place. I don't think Lovewolf claimed to be altruism personified. I'd say it's quite normal for a human being to put self-preservation before say duty or this new kind of follow your enlightened leaders patriotism. I'm pretty sure that he just wants to die by his own volition, be that as a 90 year old man in ****-stained bedsheets or a 25 year old kid in a war he does believe in against foes he does wish to see dead. I for one freely admit that I am too much of an apathetic yellow-hearted coward to serve in a war, I've always found wars philosophically challenging and interesting in that grotesque little way in which I enjoy gratuitous violence, from a throughly detached point of view obviously.

You're not terribly good with accents, are you? His words are pretty clear, if you pay attention, and they were singing it with him for Christsakes! I.e. (just written them down) In my country there is trouble And that trouble is transport It take very very long Because Kazakhstan is very big Throw transport down the well So my country can be free We must make travel easy Then we have a big party In my country there is problem And that problem is the Jew They take everybody money They never give it back Throw the Jew down the well So my country can be free You must grab him by his horns Then we have a big party If you see the Jew coming You must be careful with his (teeth?) You must grab him by his money And I'll tell you what to do Throw the Jew down the well So my country can be free You must grab him by his horns Then we have a big party Also, Minor Fort?! Come on! They're to rap what Kenny G is to Jazz! Rap is awesome, awesome, awesome, and what you just implied would easily get you hanged in my court-room, boyo! Jean-Claude, mmm. No, it's about this idealistic youth that wishes to kill Hitler and reshape humanity's history to make everything good, kind, nice and caring, he's the villain here, obviously. Anyway, he gets the power and starts killing people, cause everyone knows that to reverse humanity's wrong-doings one must first eliminate the competition and learn karate. As you can see the plot is hardly important, or coherent, you've got a gazillion paradoxes all swimming in the air, casually floating around, you've got this tough ass Chinaman using his magical kung-fu, Hitler, social commentary, more kung-fu, another paradox or two followed be even more kung-fu all culminating in an awe-inspiring bat**** flabbergasting battle between the villain and the hero, whose father the villain had just carefully assassinated. And he takes of his shirt! You know the nudity in this movie is really disappointing, I mean the only real scene is during the bloody denouement, these bastards should've learned something from all those 80s action movies! Give us nudity, that's why people watch movies, surely not for inane temporal paradoxes. Nudity! Nudity! Nudity! I miss Schwarzenegger : ((

Timecop: The Berlin Decision They should've renamed this one Timecop: The Paradox Decision. Oh man, I kill myself all the time! Now, for something more serious, uniquely so, this has to be the most laughable excuse for a script I've ever seen filmed, plot hole after plot hole, temporal paradox after temporal paradox, a premise so cliched it made my blood boil, laughable philosophy, horrible special effects; Must watch!

The problem with Barlast is that he never tries branching out, he's been apparently stuck in this soulless wankery prog-phase for a while now, and he makes all kinds of what he calls "conscious decisions", ie : no rap\jazz\blues\etc. I mean I love the guy like the brother I never wanted but sometimes his attitude towards music gets on my nerves. That and he listens to Tool. There's absolutely no reason for someone to be listening to Tool. Ever. * Fine, Opiate was decent, but that was a decade ago. But he's right, Lordi sound like ****, while I love this whole Eurovision thing, I'd never listen to them in otherwise normal circumstances.

I'm just happy because I honestly hate Greece.

Not really Heavy-Metal either. But yeah, they're like a creatively-impaired version of GWAR. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=66...q=lordi&pl=true But the entire Lordi controversy is beyond awesome.

I think they left AT a couple of years ago. And the records are probably out of print anyway. You might find The People's Choice in stores, it's a remastered best of compilation. Pretty decent, but the songs were chosen by the fans, so a lot of great tunes aren't to be found. I like Bad Religion, I just happen to find their later albums too refined for my punk tastes.

Dostoevsky's Notes from Underground is thoroughly great. Yes, I know your opinion on Dostoevsky. Read this book.

He's not a wiccan sheepwanker. Gogol Bordello are fantastic. This is not a debate.
