THE Ultimate Lightsaber Mod for TSL
ChAiNz.2da replied to T7nowhere's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Hey Alissa, a quick fix for this... 1) uninstall Bao-Dur's Charged Armor mod. 2) Install the USM, 3) THEN install Bao-Dur's Charged Armor mod again... The installer that I included with Bao's Armor will automatically adjust the baseitems.2da and the .uti file for you.. It'll save you alot of time rather than trying to manually edit all of the files yourself, I went ahead and did the "dirty work" for you with Bao's installer -

THE Ultimate Lightsaber Mod for TSL

Heckur's right With WinRar, it's usually best just to select all of the files in the "override" folder (in the USM .rar) and drag-n-drop them to your game's override folder... For the StreamVoice folder, drag the entire folder (not just it's contents) into your game's main directory. You should get a message asking about overwriting files... go ahead and allow it (it won't really overwrite anything... just the folder's "name")... that should be all you have to do.. -
Hmm.. that's odd.. it's usually about 4 influences on Bao-Dur then *poof* you have the option to train him... Did you try to 'sway' him from holding on to the hate he feels for the Mandalorians? Bao is a big softy and you have to primer him to drop his "old feelings" in order to train him... though if you're in the Mandalorian Wars conversation, try taking him in your Party next time and gain a little more influence.. the option may appear then... You might just be one option away from the dialogue...

After you defeat the Red Eclipse.. the cutscene you mention should've been when Atton says they've "just received a message"... Visquis (I think that's his name... another squid guy in any case.. hehehe) is wanting a one-on-one meeting with you... Are you a "loner" now? Meaning you can't select Party Members? If so, just head down to the Docks and another cutscene should start up where you meet Mira for the 1st time... the game should pick up from then on... -

I'm not a modeler...I could give it a shot but who knows what you would end up with " To avoid breaking people's monitors with my poor talent with graphics, I only worked on the invisible part of the mod: scripting . <{POST_SNAPBACK}> the "invisible" parts of the mod... aka one of THE most important aspects of the mod :D So am I going to be the only USM'er that answers that interview *hint* *hint* *nudge* *nudge* -
Same here, I like using robes for my PC... but I'm not hesitant on using armor for my other party members... though if I do use armor, it's usually a mod for Jedi Armor which tend to give better Dex allowances and use of Force Powers / Force Jump... " I made the Segan Wyndh Jedi Armor for KotOR and Darkkender ported it and several color varieties over for TSL... KotOR - http://www.pcgamemods.com/7967/ TSL - http://www.pcgamemods.com/10524/ There's also some Jedi Armor I made for Bao-Dur because I was tired of him dying on me all the time http://www.pcgamemods.com/13134/ Drakonnen made some pretty sweet looking Heavy Jedi/Sith Armor as well for TSL... so now there's quite a few options for my PC and Party depending on what mood I'm in when playing... :D http://www.pcgamemods.com/11332/

THE Ultimate Lightsaber Mod for TSL
ChAiNz.2da replied to T7nowhere's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
For the most part of this, Im using the USM Project as an example, but for #1 it's really about "modding in general"... 1) Getting the "nerve" to ask for help without sounding like a total goober... hehehe I actually released my very first mod before ever posting on a forum. It wasn't until I 'lurked' for awhile and found out that most modding beginners were in the same boat I was in.. so I took the plunge. Needless to say, all of my "fears" were for naught... everyone came rushing to help and were very considerate to the fact I was just beginning. So... if you're just beginning to mod, fear not, it'll only slow down your potential The biggest obstacle USM-wise, for me was... wow.. there was so many hehehe... Let's see... the 200+ line upcrystals.2da, having to do some mini-quest script work to get one of my sabers in-game (because I was adament that I needed to learn how... thank you Darth333, T7 & tk102 for your help)... and testing the sucker before Beta... keeping track of all of those files, even just your individual parts, was hectic with something this large... 2) Well... using the USM as an example, the main boundaries were numerous to say the least.. hehe TSL's shoddy game coding, horrible model hook placements (why most guns and saber either clip or are halfway up the player's left arm <_< )... I could go on and on... Though the baseitems.2da was my main pain in the arse personally. We had to overcome that obstacle because as we progressed, we realized we were going to run out of model #'s before even half of our sabers were done. Because of how we wanted to implement them in-game... many of the sabers were 'clashing' when it came time to start naming .tga's and .uti resref's... 3) Actually it was really easy, at least with the team I was lucky enough to be invited to. I'd say our hardest part was trying to be on-line at the same time for discussions At the time of creation, HL was off and on with server problems, and our RL jobs and such kept everyone pretty much in PM hell or 'celebrate'! everyone happens to be on at the same time (for reference, if you do a team mod, make sure you all have the same chat messenger prog.. I switched from AIM to YM just so I could be able to talk to everyone).. The advantage to team mods is that you have 'specialties' that can ease the burden on your fellow teammates and you can distribute the workload between everyone. We had 4 modelers, 3 scripters, all of us knew .2da work and had a little experience under our belts... it really helped out after having to pump out over 1,400+ files for just one mod 4) That's a tough one. Looking back now, I'm sure all of us would like to change some things here and there... but for the most part, we were very stringent on not letting it get released until we were all satisfied with the results. We even had to close the WIP thread because of so many "when is it going to be done?" posts... but hey, now that it's released.. we can always make updates and booster packs if there's any major changes that we'd like to see :D 5) Absolutely! I'm always game for a challenge, and the USM proved to be just that. But I have no regrets whatsoever about being part of the team, it was everything farthest from that... and I'd love to do more mods of this nature and scope :D That's about my take on things.. hehehe I can't speak for the others, but I know I had a blast and am forever grateful to have been part of the USM... -
Bugged Lightsaber form animations
ChAiNz.2da replied to Sinbreaker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Great analogy Unfortunately, your first assumption was correct... although you learn the forms, you don't get the really kewl animations that go along with it... the forms basically just add +'s and -'s to the "die rolls" depending on what the form "teaches" you... Rather a big let down (among many others in TSL) IMO.. -
2 Mods can help make the game much more interesting guaranteed :D 1) Hardcore (Difficult or Insane Settings) http://www.pcgamemods.com/10900 2) Achilles' Game Balance Mod (in the miscellaneous section) http://www.freewebs.com/achilles01/

THE Ultimate Lightsaber Mod for TSL
ChAiNz.2da replied to T7nowhere's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I say it because I made it, and I'm "happy" to see that someone is using it... Yeah, it does look funny the way he holds it, but oddly enough... it rests in the hands exactly like the normal "tube" double-sabers in the game.. Because of it's 'unique' shape.. it just makes it look even more odd.. :D Though for a Biker-Jedi.. i thought it fit him well.. hehehe -
Agreed. :D I mostly break down stuff for parts... you tend to be able to make better components than you'll ever find. However, I always build up a "nest egg" of credits.. say 50,000+ give or take... that way, you should be able to buy most of anything you may 'stumble' upon that's better than random drops... if it's not enough credits, then you're usually not far off from the goal... or you'll have enough loot in your inventory you can sell off...

THE Ultimate Lightsaber Mod for TSL
ChAiNz.2da replied to T7nowhere's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Scenarios such as that are ok, since you can do that in the game already... we just wanted the Masters to have better sabers than the standard in-game tubes Glad to see someone is actually using Zez's saber.. hehehe :D -
THE Ultimate Lightsaber Mod for TSL
ChAiNz.2da replied to T7nowhere's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
??? Works fine in my game.... Let me guess, you either: 1) Didn't use the USM upcrystals.2da, or edited it in some manner 2) You hit "assemble" on a lightsaber, when upgrading a color... but there was a "nullnade" instead of a saber model... 3) You didn't use the baseitems.2da included with the USM. if you lost a saber...then this was all covered in the readme file " Because there are so many models, we had to create baseitem lines in order to accomodate short & double-sabers. Most crystals will tell you what type of saber you must use in order to upgrade the color, and only certain crystals will work in certain saber types (short, reg. double)... This mod is massive and it's really important to read the readme file that comes with it... quote from the readme... "Due to the way lightsabers work in TSL you will not be able to use the USM crystals in the same manner that you could with the normal Color crystals. So you will not be able to use Double bladed lightsaber crystal in a normal single or short sabers. Think of them like a key to unlocking the new hilt models. If you do place a USM crystal in the wrong Lightsaber type it will turn into what looks like a grenade, So simply hit the cancel button and not the assemble button to return your lightsaber to normal. " If however the game is actually crashing... check the baseitems.2da. Lines #105 & #106 are used for USM saber crystals.. if those lines don't exist, it could very well cause the game to crash as the game is trying to call up a non-existent item... Let us know if any of these help... -
You may have to explore the Jedi Enclave in order to get the "Rescue Vrook" quest (if you haven't already)... talk to the Disciple, then explore the huge statue behind him...
-
Sounds as if you haven't rescued Master Vrook in Dantooine. You say you've visited all three, so I assume from your planets it's been: Master Zez-Kai Ell (Nar Shaada), Master Vash (Dead, Korriban), and Master Kavar (Iziz/Onderon)... Have you been to Dantooine and more importantly, Khoonda? and done that quest?

The only thing you need to do is open the swkotor2.ini file. It's located (by default) in C:\Program Files\LucasArts\SWKotOR2 You can open it with a text editor such as notepad... Now, scroll down the list until you see a header that looks like this: [Game Options] underneath it, type EnableCheats=1 then save your file... make sure the file has the .ini extension rather than a .txt extension... that should be it :D
-
Look under the [Graphics Options] header There's a second FullScreen that needs to be changed... the first one is just for the startup credit screens...
-
Does your video card share system memory? That could account for the loss in RAM... I noticed your totals and the difference is exactly 128 megs.. is that the 'listed' video memory when you bought the system?

The most useless character
ChAiNz.2da replied to Flamethrower's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
G0T0 blows... IMO.. pompous arrogant ball of crap that goes down the first in a fight But in their defense, HK47 and G0T0 have VERY interesting back stories if you get enough influence with them... HK47 for example, can actually "train" you in effective ways to kill Jedi/Sith and also "train" you to defend against attacks from Force users... If only for giggles... use KSE or various influence mods just to listen to their stories... you'll be pleasantly surprised -
While Stasis Field in itself is a higher power and more difficult to save against, I honestly (in my opinion) don't think it would be worthy with the attribute points you've listed... Whenever I play a Guardian, LS or DS, I mainly focused on Heal, and 1 or 2 offensive powers such as Force Storm or Plague... leave the buffs and defensive for the Consulars and/or high attribute point Sentinels....
