Attitude-based boredom is digging deep at my soul again, making me restless. I'm half-tempted to buy a Switch but at the moment I don't think there's too much that would interest me. Maybe next year? Then again, my PS4-Pro has largely become a pc-room blu-ray movie player so maybe not... ...might be time to start looking for a new cat. Life just seems to be missing something when I have no pet/s. Hubby still hasn't figured out when/where he wants to vacation tho...I feel like he's delaying it because he doesn't want me to get another cat. Marriage. Hm.

First 1.5 minutes builds up then calms down again. Simple but I find it so haunting/sad.

Watched this last night, and I'd agree. Very well done in that regard. Unease, curious dread, more unease. I watched the 2nd episode as well and that one didn't work quite as well for me (still good, I just didn't feel much dread anymore), although at this point in my life I'd say that's more "my fault" than a show's fault. At any rate, looks to be a well done show for those who like suspenseful, hits you in the brain type horror. Very atmospheric.

I'm rather enjoying Cattails. Sadly, there is no actual farming (I can't grow rows of catnip, *sob*) but you do run around pouncing on things for dinner. Your cat becomes very hungry quickly tho (hungrier you are the slower your walk/run pace), so one feels like you have to spend some days catching/stockpiling food so you can wander the map more. >.> I'm avoiding combat with other cats from other towns at the moment, trying to make kitty-cash to buy some upgrades....it's slow but relaxing fun. There's some puzzles stuff and dungeons but I haven't done much of those yet. Anyway, it's like a light RTS/RPG with some reminders of Stardew Valley (you can court/get married/have kittens and other things). Could probably try to stay mostly peaceful or become War Mongering Kitty. Something to play an hour or two of, periodically.

Pictures of your Games 11 - The Quickening

I think this grumpy Prince needs a Snuggle date. Sadly I left him frowning because the game was poop. Cute cat dating sim sounded funny. It wasn't. Oh, hey, I can stockpile things in my kitty-den and it's not one per "square", they pile on top of each other. I wonder how many objects you can drop before the game crashes (game warns going over 60 may affect performance but does that only apply to toaster-pc's...). -
RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - CON SEASON
LadyCrimson replied to Blarghagh's topic in Computer and Console
FONV California might have me turning that game on again for the first time in forever. Although...watching the trailers, I'm not 100% sold. I don't get any specific S/S.E. California/desert vibe from it yet. Is there a destroyed ruin of the star's handprints Chinese Theater? I think I saw a map of the CA territory they claim to cover ... I hope it's a little more than just indoor locations and NV-graphics with some pine trees. -
My #1 main problem with this show was: -- The actor Jonathan Banks (whom I like/admire much), being only human, looks so much older than he did in Breaking Bad that I simply cannot "leave brain at the door" enough to go with the notion that the series is set before Breaking Bad. Sorry, Mr. Banks. Also, 1.5 seasons in, even if it was well acted, scripted and produced I was super-bored of all the bro/gf drama (which I found rather predictable and too stretched out) and didn't go back for the 3rd season. I may try it again later.

They look awesome on the mobile phone screen, tho! -
Steam webpage, enter search term, "cat". Spend a couple hours sifting. And thus I am playing: Free visual novel released a couple days ago: Stardew Valley like, sim game, but with cats? I'm so there.

Because, lots o' cats (the MC is human). I rather enjoy the artstyle too. -
Shinichiro Miki, KĹŤsuke Toriumi, and KenjirĹŤ Tsuda - if one could marry just a voice, it'd be one of those three. There's some in-chr. audio-CD's of the three I found on YT that I listen to in the background while doing paperwork. Especially Shinichiro Miki - his general voice is great but when he starts screaming/shouting or laughing it's even better. I need to find this Amagi Brilliant Park show just to skim through for the angry screaming shark, lol. Currently skimming through Reideen, a mediocre giant-mech anime I could only find on YouTube. Short-term obsessions are fun time-wasters, sometimes.

MS, or anyone else, has not yet acquired Obsidian as of this post as far as I know. It may happen in the future though. It's currently at the stage where a rumor has become a rumor that the original rumor is definitely happening.

Hmm...pretty soon every game and entertainment co. etc. will be "Taco Bell." If I'm lucky, I'll die before it truly happens. ...well, whatever. Even if it doesn't happen this time, it may next time. Such is life, as they say. I'll hope for (what I think of as) the best, but prepare mentally for the worst.

wtf - I try to go to Dramafever site and it just has this big announcement page of "being shutdown immediately." Stuff happens, things go kaput, I get that, but what I'm peeved about is no announcement to subscribers? The site loaded up fine last night, btw. No email, no "go here to deal w/your account" link on the website, nothing. Will they auto-cancel the CC sub for me? What's going on? Thanks, Warner Brother's. Not. https://www.dramafever.com/ https://www.forbes.com/sites/tamarherman/2018/10/16/warner-bros-asian-drama-hub-dramafever-to-shut-down-immediately/

One Punch Man (anime) is leaving Netflix soon so I finally got around to checking it out a bit. I'm not sure I'd call it a good anime but I did laugh like a loon during the first few episodes that I watched. It pokes fun at a lot of action anime tropes, especially power scaling, and oh man I was in stitches from many scenes.

Bout 70 degrees Fahrenheit. California, baby. It's like that all the time. Or warmer. Like today it was closer to 80F. Day time temps usually don't get much cooler until late Nov/early Dec. here.

Have a list made out of what I'd need for a new pc rig. Was going to still go with the i7-8700k but now I'm staring at the i9-9900k. I'm not one to preorder so it wouldn't surprise me if I'd have a hard time getting my hands on it first thing, but I'd rather wait for reviews on it anyway. Which means maybe .... Xmas? New Years? New PC will likely be in the realm of $3000+ (since I'll be buying a new GPU to go in it instead of tossing/using my current one in). When it's finally on my desk, I better be able to play FFXV at "4k" with 45-60fps/maxed including most nvidia-works (vs. 30-40fps at around average w/no nividaworks) or I'll toss a fit.

*reads back through thread* Oh, I didn't really expect many replies to my bad-endings post. Thanks for all the suggestions. I don't tend to find horror games/films bad-endings to be what I look for - occasionally towards the very end of such but it's rare. Not that I don't like horror bad endings, but I rarely find them emotionally involving, perhaps because I don't scare/frighten easily, or perhaps because feeling horrified by something isn't really what I seek. I suppose there's certain themes/tropes that I almost always like/fall for and I find it to be fairly rare in video games. Not sure I could explain it, outside of sacrifice and tragedy which are both pretty generic terms. But a lot of the games mentioned I either have never/barely heard of or haven't tried so I'll check those out.

I think the only things I've seen Henry Cavill in are Immortals and the Superman stuff. At least that's all I remember. Immortals was ludicrously awful yet for some reason I rather liked it in an over-the-top visual way, and it made me think Cavill would an ok Superman at least physically . But while Cavill has looks I don't get much on-screen charisma presence from him. I feel nothing when he's on-screen. There's nothing in his eyes. Just me tho.

@Gfted - we caught a lake catfish once, that was large enough to "fill" a large-size ice cooler. I don't know what that translates into inches. Not as big as yours, maybe only 20-24". But we left it alive in the cooler for the trip home (several hours by car). The guys killed it in the kitchen (that was...a big mess). I didn't think it made for the best meal. Too old, maybe. Heh. ================ Decided I'd try Crunchyroll. After some days of watching/trying a fair bit of anime series, I can't really remember most of it. They sort of all end up feeling the same and most don't fit my personal tastes. Too ... youthful. Nothing against anime, mind. When I do like a series, I really like it ... it's just rare I like one that much. Oh well. Gintama looked goofy-action entertaining/amusing but after watching the first couple, I realized there were over 350 episodes (plus it's still ongoing?) and my fear of lengthy commitment had me running away posthaste. (edit - btw, I gave up on Bleach largely for the same reason - even skipping a few seasons, it was too much).

(Kind of music, kind of funny) Since I'm currently starting the Netflix series The Good Cop: Josh is one of those famous people where I find him hilarious/interesting in interviews and such but his official music bores me to tears most of the time. But he (and Ellen) is very charming.

I need more games with non-happy endings. I don't mean "game over" screens or you hit the wrong button/wrong choice and the world explodes/game over/reload. ...50 years (well, ok, 45 years) of happy/heroic endings in most entertainment and I'm tired of them. I need more character tragedy, pathos, ambiguous and bittersweet that builds and escalates throughout the whole game. Anything come to mind?

Fraps doesn't work with Win10, I hear. Or at least, it can be really difficult to get it to work, if at all. Win10 it seems many use Shadowplay (nvidia) or OBS (also used to Twitch-stream) as freebie options. Shadowplay requires you to install/use nvidia's Experience, however, which I find to be bloatware and useless. I'm kind of in the same boat because I use Fraps with Win7 but when I build a Win10 rig I'm going to need something else. The main thing I liked about fraps is it's high quality format that works smoothly while editing vs. high on-the-fly compression into mp4 format or whatever that feels chunky and awkward in editors.

I've realized that some male voices speaking in Japanese or Korean (calm vocalizations, that is) make great "white noise" recordings for bedtime. The vocal tones are soothing/hypnotic when you don't understand the meaning being the verbalized noises so aren't distracted by that. I've tried ocean waves, rain, thunderstorms, etc and most of the time the tones in things like that vary too much into pitch ranges my ears don't like. Rain comes the closest, as long as it's only rain and not thunder and wind. Having a fan on high works too, except I don't usually want air motion to go with white noise (especially since I have a spouse). ...and yes I've had trouble sleeping again. The past four days I think I've slept about 8 hours.

I'm late to be aware of the news, but apparently F/X is going to do a limited series (10 episode) of Shogun? I'm not sure how I feel about that, if it ends up completed. On the one hand, I'd love a new mini-series based on that novel, with modern tech and actors and costumes. And 10 episodes could allow it to be something fairly epic. F/X has been doing all right with some of their series lately, too. On the other hand, my pessimism always runs rampant and I can think of a zillion ways for them to totally mess it up. I'll be interested to see a cast list, when it forms. The original 80's 5 episode mini-series of Shogun (not the truncated movie versions of it...) is still one of my fave things, along with the novel. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/fx-orders-shogun-limited-series-1132074
