  1. This is similar to something that I've actually toyed around with as far as making suggestions goes. Why do you have to be associated with the Jedi Council at all? Imagine a situation where you are Padawan to a famous Master, and the Council splits with half going Dark Side and half going Light. Suddenly, your Master comes to you and asks you to join the Sith. You refuse, and the Master, who is hiding his affiliation, denounces you to the remaining Light-Side members of the Council as a Sith. Now, you're on the run, an experienced Jedi, forced to act outside of the Council to clear your name and return balance to the Force.
  2. The almost definite prospect of a terrorist attack before the November elections is what I find most disturbing (other than the loss of life). It does not matter what Spain says is it's reason for pulling out, Al Qaeda will (and has--on sites affiliated with it there have been claims that they overthrew the Aznar government) claim victory, and that boost of morale insures that we will see something right before the election. It looks almost as if, thanks to the Spanish election, that the terrorists have won, and Western civilization won't last the decade. Of course, I could just be overly pessimistic at the moment, too.
  3. Information Technologies. The people responsible for the design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and backup of a network.
  4. Actually, you're forgetting the takeover of Wounded Knee in Feb.27-May 8, 1973 by AIM (American Indian Movement). No matter how genuine their grievances (and, more than most Americans, I understand them; heck, I was a member of AIM for a while), no matter how "bloodless" it was, it was still a terrorist action, as it involved the takeover of a non-military site and the hostage-taking of civilians in order to achieve a political goal. Although it was nowhere as bloody as what Europe, the Mid East, and South America have experienced over the last 40-50 years, it was still a rather significant act of terrorism. Oh, and in reference to the first point, I think that the important thing about 9/11 was that the nature of terrorism changed. I would not be surprised at all to hear of European terrorist organizations utilizing the same tactics as Al Qaeda, given that the deaths of 2-3 people no longer have the same kind of political impact as the deaths of 1200 (which is why I wouldn't be surprised if Thursday's attacks in Madrid do turn out to be caused by Eta).
  5. I also felt that Revan was the main character of the story. All of the choices, all of the problems experienced, were because of Revan. The only reason for Bastilla's importance was her connection to Revan (her Battle Meditation is sited as a reason in-game, but that only led to the Bastilla-Revan confrontation). As for the Temple scene, the reason that played out the way that it did is that Bastilla got some of Revan's "taint" through the bond (Jolee mentions this), and in order to fully go dark side, you needed her. Basically, Bastilla/Revan were 1 3/4 characters, rather than 2 separate characters, and each needed the other to make a choice fully one way or the other. Also, you can go through most of the game without using Bastilla (though why anyone would want to deprive themselves of Jennifer Hale's voice is beyond me), and her abscence made no real difference in how the story played out.
  6. He is Sir Charles Phantom, the famous Pink Litton!
  7. Yes, something like this would be greatly appreciated. There are a ton of threads currently, and sifting through them to see what the devs have to say (even if they can't say anything about P.X, it can still be worthwhile to learn their ideas, etc.) is extremely time-consuming. I would like to cast my vote for something like this.
  8. This is true: without the threat of censure, there is no impetus for those who pirate (really, it's simple theft, not piracy) to cease their activities. Why? 'Cause they're getting their games for free with no possible repercussions, and they can justify it completely to themselves by saying that they need it and can't afford it, or that the company overcharges, or that they'd never buy the game anyway, or any number of other excuses. It's a win-win situation for those who pirate, in that they get the game, save their money, and don't have to worry about a guilty conscience. The only way to break this cycle (short of all pirates miraculously having a change of heart) is to enforce the law and prosecute individuals who pirate software.
  9. Steampunk would be nice. I also like the idea of a Western CRPG, especially one where you can be Native (just include more than just the Dakota, please).
  10. Hey, I had a thing for her too! (But that wasn't why I thought it was the best one...) Brosnan wouldn't be bad if they wrote the damn character right. Bond's all soft now- and the new movies are like BMW Films, except with more advertising and ridiculous plots... About Dalton? I don't know... He always seemed a little sinister looking to be Bond. When I saw him in the Rocketeer, I didn't think, hey that's Bond! Of course I probably was too busy looking at Jennifer Connelly... Heh, we have similar tastes in women... Dalton did a great job at portraying the Bond of the novels. In fact, when he took the part (which he did 'cause Brosnan, one of his good friends, asked him too when he couldn't take it due to contractual obligations with Remington Steele) he read through all the novels and short stories. The Bond of the books is pretty cold-hearted, not really a nice guy at all. He is totally focused on achieving his goals, and will do anything to ensure that they are accomplished. He is much more a "real" operative than the Bond of the movies.
  11. Eh, Mandy Moore is a better actress, and cuter to boot.
  12. If a game were to include ninja, I'd prefer if they were handled accurately and split into Koga and Iga ninja (who had different philosophies, focuses, and historical origins). I get kinda tired of seeing Koga represented but not my Iga. Still, ninja always add a bit of fun to a game.
  13. I agree with this. Lazenby did a great job, but wasn't Bond. If Dalton or Connery had been Bond for that movie, I imagine it would have been everyone's favorite (it's my fave, though that might be 'cause I have a thing for Teresa).
  14. I say go ahead and add them. At the very least this should cut down on "CRPGs are dead!!!" threads. Thanks for the list.
  15. Dalton was more faithful to the Bond of the books. Still, I thought Brosnan did a decent job; it's too bad that the movies themselves were absolute crap.
  16. I love Evolution because of Orlando Jones. I loved his stuff on Mad TV, and his stint as "The 7-Up Guy" was great, too.
  17. The only game that I've ever played where a brothel actually added something to the game was Ps:T (kudos to you for that, CA). Otherwise, my experience with games with brothels has been to cringe when I learn that they have them. It is my opinion that too many designers spend too much time on developing brothels and not enough time developing the rest of the game.
  18. I thought that Hell Kitty's love was Angelina? I'd take some of her love.
  19. I live in Statesboro, Georgia, in the United States of America.
  20. Not all JRPGs are TB. For a while there, nearly every JRPG was real-time (and darned annoying). The Final Fantasy games used "Active Time Battle" for several of their games, and other games mimicked this. However, JRPGs seem to be going more towards TB gameplay than RT lately, and hopefully this trend will crossover to CRPGs.
  21. Holy crap! I didn't even recognize him! Will wonders never cease?
  22. Bwahahaha! Funniest thing I've read all day!
  23. I came here because I was a bit crushed with what culminated in the events nearly a year ago (y'all know what I mean). Though not everyone is here, this is the largest concentration of those developers that I admire that I have found thus far. These guys (along with others, like the erstwhile J.E.) have had some ideas for game design that I like, and as I doubt that Sammael's dopplegangor infiltration has taken off yet, I imagine that they still have those neat ideas and are still critical thinkers. This gives me hope that one day I will get to play what for me will be the perfect game. High expectations, but I'm sure they will do well.
  24. Quite to the contrary, Gromnir and I have sparred from time to time, and I've seen him concede points (albeit rarely). Plus, if someone mature is engaged in a debate with Gromnir you can actually learn things, though this could be said about anyone, I've come to find that intellectual debates with Gromnir can be quite informative. As for his speech, I have no problem with comprehending it... I guess I am just sim-pul. Nope, Shadowstrider, Gromnir is great to debate with. His arguments are almost always (nobody's perfect) well-reasoned and thought out. About the only complaint that I have when debating with him is when the attorney in him comes to the forefront and he debates any point just to debate (which can be fun, albeit confusing at times). I enjoyed the time that I got the opportunity to really debate him. As for his posting style, I have no problem with it. Except for using the first-person plural pronoun, and subject-verb agreement, his English is impeccable ("ain't" is frowned upon, but is just a contraction of "am not").
  25. I'd like to disagree a bit, here. Since the current crop of platforms came out, I have been grossly disappointed with the quality of console games. Rather than blaming it on consoles and any influence that they may or may not have on PC gaming, I think the current lackluster selection of games on the PC is endemic of the industry as a whole. There have been a few rather significant buyouts and mergers over the past few years, due to the fact that gaming has become a growth industry, and the emphasis has been more on the bottom-line than on really producing fun, quality games, IMO. Until this trend is changed, and I believe that small companies like Obsidian here are the key to reversing the trend, we will continue to see crappy games. Back on topic, I'd like to see a good fantasy game. I'm not tired of dragons and dwarves, and the last few games dealing with them haven't quite been up to snuff. Now, this fantasy setting doesn't have to be traditional (I'll freely confess that I'm tired of traditional fantasy), but swords and sorcery are okay in my book. Cyberpunk would be cool, too. I'd also like a modern day game, CRPG of course, set in maybe New York or something, where you're wanted for murder or something and have to clear your name.
