You know I am more qualified to manage the Marlins than Dan Jennings? Never played pro ball? Check. Never managed pro ball? Check. Good communicator with amiable personality? Check. Successfully guided a team to the world series? Nope, but neither has he. But I have done it in OOTP several times with the Marlins so I got him there.

What about 8. The primordial thrill of eating the raw heart of the animal you have just killed on the hunt ( no need to be politically correct with us but I appreciate the sentiment ) It's been a while since I did that. I always found it was better when cooked!

Everything's Great - An anti-whinge Part 1

GD thank you for being honest...your view is important because some people won't believe it if I say it..things are actually rather good But GD now I have to remind you about something..and I know you will be honest When Obama was reelected a second time you became unusually depressed and said this was the beginning of the end and we should all invest in gold How do you now feel about that perspective? I DID invest in gold! I started buying at $820, bought even more at $1300, sold some at $1600, sold all the rest at $1950. I made a fortune off fear of that SOB. I have no love for that man at all. None. He has no respect or regard for individual liberty and he has been a terrible President. But as far as my own personal fortunes both good and bad there is not a single politician living or dead who had anything to do with any of it. Not one of them helped me or hurt me. And that is true for everyone by and large. -

Everything's Great - An anti-whinge Part 1

In spite of KP negativity let me add my $.02: I own my own house and land outright, no mortgage I'm fit and healthy, not just for my age but period I have a pretty and intelligent wife who I adore My dogs are healthy and happy I have money in the bank and a healthy investment portfolio and worked hard for both I have a secure job that I enjoy doing I just grew the biggest strawberries I've ever seen in my garden The Tampa Bay Rays are in first place in the AL East I have good whiskey on the counter and cold beer in the refrigerator. My friends, I have no problems. But is hasn't always been so. In my life I've been: Dead broke (more than once) Homeless (sort of, I was staying with a former co-worker) I've started four businesses that failed utterly Unemployed a few times Divorced The important thing is not the bad stuff that happens to you in life. The important thing is what you do about them. In a country like the US being poor is just bad luck. Staying that way is a choice. -
Well the same thing can be said for, say, the overwhelming majority of your fellow human beings, yet their existence is generally not portrayed as a problem; furthermore, most ethical systems call for, indeed, treating them as your friends. I may be missing something here. Yes and governments are made up of human beings. And you do not want other human beings having too much control over you and yours. Every problem this world has ever had, has or will have begins when one human being seeks to impose his will on the lives of other human beings. Sometimes that is done out of imagined benevolence (I just want to help these poor fools) or arrogance (I want to save these poor fools) or malice (I'm going to show these poor fools) the end result is the same. Government does have a purpose but it must be limited, and it must be kept in those limits. Too many people see the government as a means to make people do, live, act the way they want. That is my biggest problem with the religious right and everyone on the left. You can't fix human nature, the only way to protect yourself is not allow your government to become so powerful it can do whatever it wants with no consequences.

Oh no! Obama wants to invade Texas and kill Jesus! And I know it's true because I read it on the internet! Hey... wait a minute. Jesus lives in Texas?
-
I would not go so far as to wish for anarchy but Volo is dead on the money on one note. Your government does not love you, it does not want to help you, and it is not your friend. It's motivation is only self perpetration. If they day ever comes where the liberty of the people becomes a threat to that then it will become a threat to the people. I will not live in a country where the people have no countermeasure against that. If guns are ever outlawed and confiscated in the US it does not necessarily mean horror will follow. But if it does the people will be helpless to stop it. Either way I won't be alive to see it.

The sad part is that did NOT have to cheat, he was good enough to make it to the hall without doing so. But he did and I wouldn't vote for a cheater under ANY circumstances. I don't disagree with you there.

I thought Bioware's obective was to make fun RPGs not romance games But ok, I see what you mean by demographic then, though I think GD was focusing on the romantic relationships rather than the Bro party member (there's always one) being homosexual. Correct Sir! You can shut the whole messy thing down by just eliminating romances all together. I mean really, do any of them really work or feel organic? I'd say no. Or do what Skyrim did and just minimalize it. If you do either no one feels offended and you can concentrate on making the game story make sense. No THERE is something that could USE a little effort. -
Oh I'm not saying it didn't affect his career. It kept him in the game longer than his age and physical ailments should have.

Get offended? How could anyone be offended by an internet forum? I mean, it's not like you guys are real right? This is all just a sophisticated computer program. You do cease to exist when I turn my computer off right? This thought made me laugh....imagine if I found out that there are only 5 or so real people active on these forums and all this time I have been having the same debates with people who sometimes agree with me and sometimes don't depending on there sock puppet Hey Dark Raven used to argue with her own alts.

Most promancers aren't that favorable to the Skyrim way of Romance implementation Hey they got it in, it took almost no effort, no one could be offended by it, and it can be easily skipped. I'd say they nailed it! No pun intended -

Usually I think you are coming from Tennessee, but on occasion you sound a bit more like Florida. I haven't completely assimilated yet!

Romance in video games. Ugh. What a mess that has become. I'd like to go back to 1998 when BI was designing BG2 and tell them what this will ultimately turn into. On top of the fact that the Jaheria romance will always be a buggy mess this romance thing turned into a huge crap storm that drives everyone nuts for incomprehensible reasons. Of course they were just the first. If it hadn't been them it would have been someone else. Skyrim did it best. Here is my amulet of Mara, now I can marry whoever the heck I want and it doesn't matter because they all say the same s--t. -
The Rays have lost Alex Cobb & Drew Smyly for the season. One has a torn UCL, the other a torn Labrum. Most of their pitching staff belongs in AAA. Yet they are 2 games over .500 & in second place despite being dead last in team batting average and runs scored. You got love the Rays.

...Do you seriously believe the state wants to take away your guns in order to make their job of taking away your children easier? No. I realize it's hard to tell when someone is screwing around when just reading text because it's hard to capture tone. I do post a lot of stuff just for arguments/discussion sake. But I think most of you know where I'm coming from most of the time.

I don't know if it's just me getting old but I have yet to play a computer game (with the possible exception of PoE) that I enjoyed as much as the old IE & Fallout 1 & 2 games. The new games are beautiful to look at but just seem so empty, so soulless. Even characters are clichéd and the interaction between them so contrived. It's hard to get worked up over something you just don't care much about. -
I'm sure it would require a heroic effort on your part to actually read the article instead of launching into wild and uninformed speculation. You become quite argumentative lately haven't you? More than usual!
-
Did a bang up job there. Heh, if they did conclude it was a problem, I don't imagine any solution is practical as people won't take for the State seizing their children or some other totalitarian behaviour. But I suppose their kind doesn't mind that niggle. If the state ever did decide to seize everyone's children how would we stop them? Well, in the US & Canada we're all armed to the teeth so I guess that won't be an issue! Suddenly puts gun control in a different light.

1) Does anyone else think there is too much effort made to make interpersonal relationships in video games a little too lifelike? I mean, c'mon man it's a video game! 2) Does anyone else think its a little silly to get worked up over every design decision and the real or perceived reason behind them? I mean, c'mon man it's a video game! -

Hey, the world has many unattractive women that we have to deal with. I guess computer games should to. As far as the brothels and stuff being removed, that's what mods are for. Have you even SEEN some of the stuff made for Fallout? You can turn your character into a drug addicted junkie prostitute with fully visualized sex scenes. Besides I always figured somewhere between one area transition of another my character was stopping and "taking care of business" somewhere. -
No, the only thing "socialist" about Obamacare is the mandate. Namutree nailed it when he called it a socialist/capitalist hybrid in that is uses the force of law to compel everyone to participate in a capitalist venture. And that is really the most heinous thing about it. It compels every citizen, as a requirement of citizenship, to enter into a private contract with a third party. It forces you to buy something. I'm not saying it's not something important but that should not matter. It has never been a crime to do nothing until that passed. It really sets a terrible precedent. Especially considering at the time the Federal Government had an ownership interest in GM and a few other companies. It's only another small step to force everyone buying a car to buy a GM car. It is horrible. The 20th century word for it was Fascism. National Socialism also functioned identically to this. Nobody seems to want to use these words. The reason is that fascism is also associated with extreme nationalism. We're just talking about economics so it's easier to not use the term "fascism" to help avoid an argument of semantics around what the word refers to. Yeah this is pretty right. The unholy marriage of government and corporations we have seen during the Obama admin does smell a little bit like a German 1930's model. But although from a economic standpoint it is a valid comparison (on a minimal level) it's not one that really should be made because of all the other things that come to mind with Nazism & Fascism that are not happening. The notion that Obama is a socialist makes for good forum chatter but it does not pass within shouting distance of the truth. If Obama were able to get everything he wanted he would build a Oligarchic government that has a very close relationship with the large corporations it will happily bash to the voters before the elections and get right back in bed with after.
