  1. Iced tea. I haven't left home but once in four weeks. I'm completely out of booze.
  2. I try to never read two books of the same genre back to back. I find it keeps my brain from getting bored.
  3. The democrats changed the rules a little while back. The superdelegates will only be a factor if no candidate reaches the magic delegate number. In the event of a brokered convention all pledged delegates are free to choose who the wish and the superdelegates come into play. This will probably not happen. The odds of a brokered convention are pretty small.
  4. Our political leaders are NOT our best and brightest. The "media" (also not our best and brightest) should know better than to jump all over every semantic slip. Especially uttered by someone who is only where they are because they were the least objectionable choice of nothing but objectionable choices on a given election day.
  5. Now reading. About half way in. This is a strange one
  6. This is extremely cool
  7. If our lives were lies I'm sure we'd have made them more interesting
  8. My garden is fully sprouted. In fact the strawberries are ahead of schedule. My pear trees are in full bloom and covered in little white flowers. The magnolia trees down by the creek are in full bloom. Today I'll collect some of their leaves. I use a press to extract sap from them and mix with paraffin to make scented candles. The sun is shining, the air is clean and cool. All I hear are birds and squirrels, and the sound of the river in the trees. It's easy to forget that out there, past my now useless newspaper box the world is in terrible shape and people are hurting. Apparently I'm getting a $1200 check this week because it's based on income not assets. I'm donating the entire amount to River of Life in Munford. They are running three food banks in Munford, Covington, and rural Tipton County.
  9. Let me know when you find one
  10. USS Mercy hospital ship crew member now infected. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/usns-mercy-crew-member-tests-positive-for-coronavirus/ar-BB12njn4?ocid=spartanntp
  11. Hardly. He would have spent his entire term tilting at the windmills on the hill swearing they were giants. Or, he was completely full of s--t about what he wanted to do. I would not discount the latter. When a multi-millionaire is cheered wildly for declaring how immoral it is for there to be millionaires it's pretty hypocritical. Especially since he was never planning of giving up a nickel of his own fortune or any of his three houses. Besides after all his years defending Castro, Ortega, Stalin, and saying bread lines were a good thing, f--k him. I hope we've heard the last of him.
  12. Bernie Sanders has dropped out. Looks like Crazy Uncle Joe has his nomination.
  13. Hey I am 100% in favor of thumbing your nose at the government and saying "f--k you don't tell me what to do". But doing it while doing an activity that is inherently dangerous in an of itself and not just to yourself, is like cutting off your nose to spite your face.
  14. This is soooo... stupid! And that is coming from ME! https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/07/us/coronavirus-idaho-bundy-patriot.html
  15. IIRC Pride, Greed & Envy are all biblical sins that got a pass. Of course all three end up punishing the sinner all by themselves. I'd really like to go back in time and have a couple of drinks with Madison and give him a few ideas to add into the Constitution. I'd suggest a clause in Article II that makes military service a requirement for the Executive. Three of the last four President's have had no military experience and have misused and mishandled the military. It's only logical to expect someone that is placed in charge of something know a little about it. Edit: Allow me to beat Gromnir to the punch! Madison would not doubt be confused by my suggestion. A military career was not a profession in his day. And the notion that the US had a standing military would have upset him I don't doubt. He probably would have asked "But Mr. Dog are you suggesting the United States will be enough wars to provide a pool of qualified candidates for the Presidency.?" To which I say "Starting in 1846 and going forward, yes. But that is beside the point. Just bear with me James, my next three suggestions won't make any sense to you either... but they are important!" Actually he would probably more curious where I got that wonderfully sweet brown whiskey. Charcoal barrel stave aging would not be invented for another five years in 1787.
  16. Mostly myself. i was working with a real estate lawyer for a time but got some bad advice that landed me in IRS trouble. I work with a different one now. She handles all my lease contracts but that's it.
  17. No you're not wrong on that potential outcome. Let me change what I said then. Residential real estate is no good for me. The townhouse I owned and rented out was mortgaged. The the tenant ran into a financial hardship suddenly their problems become my problems because Webster Bank still expected that mortgage payment from me every month. The biggest problem with renting IS renters. Although I was fortunate in that both my tenants were nice folks who treated my home like it was theirs. But I still had to fix things and do what I could to make them happy. My property near Union City is leased to a dairy farm. Not one of those cows has ever e-mailed me with a complaint. Not THAT is a model tenant IMO!
