3 members of armed militia injured in shooting at Breonna Taylor protest Oh man is this funny! They were shot by one of their own members accidently! This fool is walking around with a full magazine, locked and loaded, no safety. Bo NOT bring live ammo if you are going to carry a firearm to a protest. And don't even give a firearm to members who don't know WTF they are doing! Next time they get together she will be carrying this:

Still not crazy about it. But heck I still haven't accepted the DH yet either so it's just me

Fish vs Phils today at noon (here anyway). I have a big jar of sun tea and a firm appointment with my radio. It's a great day to relax on the porch and catch the game.

OK, funny story about something @Gromnir said about the police being your best friend when your car is broken down. I believe it was 1998. '97, something like that. I was working in my own business (electronic and mechanical test equipment calibration and service) and going to school at Broward Community College in the mornings. I had just worked the entire night at Florida RF Labs up in Stuart and was on my way to BCC in Davie for a class. Going down I-95 one of my radiator hoses burst. So I pulled over and it took two seconds to realize what was up. I didn't have a cell phone then, just a pager. Anyway there was a Discount Auto Parts store less than a mile away in Pompano so I climbed down the berm, over the fence and walked about four blocks. Less than an hour later I'm walking back with a new hose and a bottle of antifreeze. When I got back to my truck a FHP car (Florida highway Patrol) was behind it with the lights on. I walked up, waved to the trooper, popped the hood, got some tools from my test kit, and got to work. The Trooper walks over to me and right away he's being a d--k. "This your truck"? It strikes me as an exceedingly stupid question that begs a sarcastic riposte, but I figured I needed this guy on my side. "Yes sir" I reply and give him my license and registration. He looks at it for a moment and asked if I needed him to call a tow truck. "No sir, give me time to replace this radiator hose and I'll be on my way" At this point I was back to work and he looked me up and down and said, brusquely, "You have 20 minutes and then I'm having your truck towed". No offer of help or advice or anything. Then he turns on his heel, walks back to his car and gets in. Some how I figured "calling me a tow truck" and "having your truck towed" were two VERY different outcomes from my perspective. Well, thankfully the Chevy S10 left plenty of room between the radiator & engine front and I had the hose replaced and engine running in 15 minutes. Before leaving I walked back to the trooper and told him in a tone that only an idiot would think was gratitude "Thanks for all your help" He replied back without a hint of irony or understanding "That's what we're here for" You ever get the feeling that you just met someone whose continued existence it a complete waste of valuable air? That was how I felt that day!

I set the crockpot up to make venison stew. I'm making cornmeal pancakes with black coffee for breakfast. After some light yard work the plan is to spend the rest of the day in my hammock drinking ice tea and following the day's baseball games on my XM Radio. Life is pretty good.

This hits the nail on the head nicely. A few years ago my income taxes were pretty complex because I had numerous sources of income from different business ventures, the biggest of which was from employment in a company I was a partial owner of. Now they are pretty simple. My paycheck and lease income from a number of properties which does not amount to a whole lot. My state property taxes are what I have to keep an eye. TN grants credits for land used for agriculture but it is a different for commercial and family farm credit. My house qualifies for one and the grazing fields the other. But the rules seem to change frequently and without notice. On the subject of firearms, anything said would be redundant. We've beaten that subject to death. The only thing we'd agree on is nothing is going to change. But it IS possible at some future point the 2nd Amendment may go the way of the 3rd. Still there but a solution to a problem no one has. Not in our lifetimes. But someday.

Ha! Don't even get me started. My real estate lawyer gave me some advice on capital gains tax deferrals that led to me meeting some folks from the IRS. Let me tell you guys... THOSE sumbitches are NOT your friends! I have a new policy when it comes to the IRS. PAY the f-----s what you owe in the year you owe it.

Yanks & Nats last night. I guess all the players knelt for the anthem and some folks are blowing a gasket about it. Hey, I must admit I'm a little sick of it too. No one likes have politics rammed down their throats 24x7. And that is what we have. It's a cancer that is affecting everything. But unlike real cancer the only cure is to ignore it. It WILL go away if everyone STFU about it. Hey I'm 1000% in favor of athletes being politically active and advocating for causes they care about, whatever they are. But not in the workplace. The rest of us don't do that either. We could also take the platform away by dispensing with the anthem before a sporting event. It's a weird little ritual we'd be well rid of and it would hasten the end of the toxic combination of sports & politics. Just my $.02

Many cops tend to be bullies. Bullies tend to be cowardly souls who hate themselves and make up for it by beating down and humiliating others. Especially those who can't fight back. They are billy badass once a man is handcuffed and on the ground. When someone is capable of resistance they are a bit more circumspect. Especially if that individual isn't doing anything wrong or provocative. An armed society is a polite society.

I was actually thinking of folks protecting themselves FROM "protesters" or whatever you want to call the folks who light buildings on fire, drag people out of their cars and beat the hell out of them, or loot businesses.

People should expect each level of government to do it's job. And they probably should also expect to be disappointed. If the Mayors of Chicago, Portland, Seattle, St. Louis, the City Attorney of St. Louis all get re-elected then those folks deserve what they get. My advice to everyone is to buy a firearm, plenty of ammunition, and become very proficient in it's use. In the end the only one you can count on is YOU. An no, the Federal Govt does NOT get to step in and just do things it has no power to do just because the lower levels have abdicated their responsibility. Want dictatorships? That is how you get them. A country is not "free" so to speak because you get to vote for who gets to oppress you. It's "free" because the government is no all powerful. When it tried to become that you ignore it at your considerable peril.

No. Local policing is the job of the City/County/State as applicable. If they are not doing their job then it doesn't get done. That is between the people of that city/county/state. They voted those dirtbags into office, they can vote them out. Of people can stand up to the mob and defend themselves. Of course you know the goddamned Democrats HATE that. The mob is allowed to do as it pleases in their book.

I'm with Gromnir. Kicking the can down the road might seem like a cop out but I think it's the right move. BTW Folks are down on the KC Chiefs now. Whether that is justified or not is another conversation. I just wanted to point out a creative way another team dealt with the same controversy. The team in question is the Peoria Chiefs of the Midwest League, a minor league affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. Their original logo looked like this: About six years ago they kept the name ut changed the logo: It works.

No he said the opposite in fact. Biden himself is not a fool but he has very little going for him that would make you want him as President in normal times. He is bad caricature of a career politician. As dishonest a man as has ever worked in a city of dishonest people. But these are not normal times are they? It would bother me more if he actually thought he could. Since the President could no more defund the police than he could flap his arms and fly. Presidents who think they can do anything worry me. Congresses and States and courts who LET them get away with anything worry me more. I recall once reading a letter John Adams wrote to his wife describing the original White House. In it he wrote "I pray heaven to bestow the best blessings on this house and all that shall hereafter inhabit it. May none but honest and wise men ever rule under this roof" Have you ever seen a man more set up for disappointment? Of course when the British burned it the blessing probably went with it.

The Toronto Blue Jays will play the 2020 season in Pittsburgh. Too many travel restrictions in Canada. Not that big of a deal really. Not like the folks in Toronto could have gone to the game anyway.

In other news something encouraging is happening: Libertarian and Green Party Candidates Are Making Surprising Appearances in 2020 Election Polls "I would say to voters, you know, make yourself heard. Vote for what you want and make the politicians come to you" Howie Hawkins That's goddamn right Mr. Hawkins. If it came down to just me, if my one vote decided the election between Biden & Trump I'd STILL vote for Jorgensen.

I seem to remember Kurt Russell and robin Williams doing a movie about that in the 80's. Don't remember the title

IIRC the US "knew" Iraq had chemical weapons because we GAVE them chemical weapons to use on Iran. Not that any such a thing would ever be admitted to. IF there was anything left after 25 years is questionable. One thing for sure, they were not sent to Syria. Assad WOULD have used them. What munitions he did use were Soviet IIRC. This is going off of my memory here so that that fir what it's worth. It HAS improved since I gave up booze.

To say nothing of the staggering ignorance of the region, it's history, it's people, culture, languages, and the extreme unlikelihood that they would all just "get along" once they were not being held together by force. Oh yeah, they did under sell it to us, but also to themselves because of how much they didn't know or didn't WANT to know.
