Ohh christ. Your not serious, surely, dont get me wrong, im a newbie here so it doesnt really bother me if they close this place down, but the codex, well, ive been reading that place for about six months, laughing at the arguments, loving the whole "Exitium is a Flip-Flopper" stuff and the continuous uttering of "R00fles!" by Volourn, but come on, most of the people from these boards would get their a***'s handed to them over there. Ive seen people threaten to kill someone for liking NWN, flame wars over someone stating that they wouldnt consider fallout to be their favourite rpg and , recently at least, aphatmc~ posting some sort of weird poetry involving his phallus. In fact, yes, you should all go too rpg codex, i have absoloutly no doubt that you will all be welcomed there. (hmmm, time to get some popcorn! )

Did Lucas say No to the content patch
Saran replied to Degage's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Ohh no, i understand all right, infact i agree with you, the trade-in + 10 dollars/euro deal would be good, either that or a wrap up in KOTOR3. -

I dont know about paying again, seriously, why the hell should we pay for a game we were meant to get in the first place, however, i would support a trade in that deducted most of the cost away from the gold edition. I.E: The gold edition costs 45 euro/50 dollars, when you trade in the original TSl you get the gold edition for 10 dollars/10 euro. I hope to christ they dont get the idea of riping us off a second time. (And by they i mean Lucasarts.) If they cant do this they should tie up the plot from TSL in KOTOR3, using a series of multiple choice questions to decide what route you took in TSL and in the prologue you can rescue some of your party members (the ones that survived) from slavers/sith, in many ways it could mirror ROTJ and the rescue of Han from Jabba the Hutt. That way we get to find out what happened to our party, and continue on the search for the HK factory without Lucasarts being forced into paying for costly content patches or ripping off the community by selling us the full game with a crappy "Gold Edition" sticker on the box. -
I agree with those that have said that obsidian's reaction has been pretty decent when it comes to acknowledging their mistakes. I also agree with those that have stated their distaste for the more childish/emo whorish members of the community that come here to flame Obsidian. So what do we do? Do we sit back and shut up, showing Lucasarts that all they need to do is keep quiet and wait for the whining to subside before they release another buggy P.O.S? Do we wait for the mod community to do (what will undoubtedly be) a great job of tying up loose ends, sending a message to publishers "Hey guys, go ahead, work your devs to the bone and then, after all of the divorces and mental disorders that came about due to the 12 month long "CRUNCH TIME", cut anything that might require some polish instead of giving the devs more time and trust those suckers that buy your games to do your work for you!" Or do we keep criticsizing LA, pointing out problems rationally and concisely? I think its pretty clear which one i think is best.(Yep, thats right, the comedy fourth option, hunt them down like dogs and kill them, you know me so well! ) Yea, lets stop the pointless arguing, but dont stop criticsizing LA's handling of the game, otherwise they will continue to release crap until they find something else to leach. (I can see it now: Grim Fandango: Girls Gone Wild Edition! *shiver*)

How long do you think it will be before the patch?
Saran replied to Eplebit's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Hey, Comic Book Guy has a name now. Seriouslah, though, did the Developers say anywhere what issues they're addressing in the upcoming patch? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Honestly? None, no-one has any idea, though some of the fixes will probably be for the dialog-skip option (Or ADD Dialog as i like to call it, by that i mean it blurs by and the only way to read it is to go into your journal.) There is also the problem with various makes of graphics cards, and the frequent CTDs that happen to everyone. Edit: oh, and i completely forgot about swoopbike racing, it doesnt work, i once quit a race and now everytime i enter one i get the same dialog about quiting, even if i beat all of the other lap times, ohhh, and the garage of the ebon hawk has a swoop bike in it according to the minimap, but when you go there it is non-existant, plus you can race despite the fact you dont have a bike, dont ask me why, perhaps before each race you murder one of the other racers and take their swoop bike. If your dreams are universally accepted like Mastercard, Visa, and American Express, sure you can. ^_^ <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh lord, "premium modules"! , yay, the worst bits of steam with none of the value! Worst thing is i would love to play the witches wake, but i have a 56k connection, all i can do is wait and see if they ever get around to selling it on a disk, as for the "lite" versions, why pay full price for a third of the product? At least i have island adventures 2 to look forward too. ill leave it there, im already miles off topic as it is! Edit: I im just after reading the post on the NWN2 boards, and it appears as if the guys at Obsidian really arent to blame, phew, that restores my hope for NWN2, while the second post was a bit ,lets just say "Grumpy", it is understandable since some people have been going a bit too far with the "WOE IS ME!, THOU HAST CUT ME TO THINE SOUL!" stuff. Still, hopefully they will be allowed to add some of the stuff in by those "nasty individuals" at LA, i wish that the bloody rules werent so hard on swearing, some times the only way to properly express yourself is is with the B and F words. -

(w00t) heh, i answered you in your other post but it was deleted, so here it is again. Lets just say that i was a soldier when i started KOTOR1 and when i reached level 7 i then became a jedi, and i finished the game as a level 10 jedi sentinel. That would translate to 7/10 soldier/sentinel for short. Edit: Hmm the board really is messed up, after posting in the cloned topic it disappeared, now its back again, weird.

Lets just say that i was playing the first game as a soldier, at level 7 i became a jedi, and at the end of the game i was a level 10 jedi sentinel, that would be 7/10 soldier/sentinel for short. The lightside/darkside thing is about what alignment they were when they played through the game Edit: In other words i would have been level 17 altoghether.

Can we truly judge Obsidian based solely on KOTOR2
Saran replied to KOTORFanactic's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Ahhh, and here is the best response so far, becuase you mentioned something i , until now, felt was best left unsaid, that is the whole story itself. It is schizophrenic, a mix of "The Force is......", "Light is...." and "Dark is...." , in many ways its a soap opera, rather than an epic. After all what is the story? Is it about a war hero, returning to put the ghosts of the past too rest? A cautionary tale about the dangers of trusting those you know too much? A statement about how the smallest actions can change the fate of the galaxy?, or all of the above?, or perhaps none of them. Personally, i think none, why? Becuase its messed up, unlike KOTOR 1 there is no "Base", no foundation upon which the other storys can anchor themselves too. No "This is what the story is, along your way you will learn other things, other views on the current situation, but despite all this you will always have this thread to hold onto." That is the game's greatest failing, after all, in kotor 1 you were out to stop malak, all of the stuff on the planets was the sidequest gravy to the main story arc meat. Even when you were solving the murder on dantooine, ending the sand people threat, peacefully or violently, or trying to guide the outcasts of Taris to their promised land, you always had a core upon which you could depend. This game had none, now before others reply with "U R T3H ST00P1D!!11!" , i can assure you that i "got" the game, the problem was when i got it, it turned out to be nothing but smoke, their was no common bond, no background, every time you met one of the jedi masters you had to explain exactly what you were, what motivated you, if you were angry, and on and on, by the time I had them all toghether I thought the games central story was a lesson in how to tell people about yourself in the shortest time possible, all of the, well, boredom of the side quests would have been bearable had the ending wrapped it all toghether. Just imagine, if all of the drudgery, all of the pointless, repetitive conversations had all been tied up in the end, if it turned out that all of what you had done had been for something, ill take it that most of you have finished KOTOR 1, if not ill try and keep the rest as spoiler free as possible, by the time you were finished you felt as if all that you had done during the course of the game, at least if you were good, had been an act of redemption, those little things that you did, those "Fedex" quests had proven to your "Friends" that your past no longer defined you, that you had proven the whole council wrong by showing them that you werent a puppet, that infact you were a new man/woman. By the time the end credits rolled you felt "Ahhh, that was cool, the twist, the ending, yes, the fighter blasting and the dungeon crawl at the end was repetitive, but it was all worth it, it all made a difference." As for the Sith Lords, ermmm, not so much. The ending destroyed, it, but then again, i didnt play the fallout series for its xp system, or the baldurs gate series for its loot, i played them for the story, its why i avoid games like diablo like the plague, its why i would give my left arm for a copy of planescape torment, which is impossible to find. Think about it, whats makes life great, is it the fact you once cut the lawn for a crippled neighbor, that you did well in school, or is it the way your whole life wraps up, the person those experiances shape, all of the storys that make you the man or woman you are today. Ohh, and if you read all of that long winded stuff above, have a cookie, you deserve it! -
I agree, it was probably one of the best FPS's I have ever played, unlike that p.o.s that was doom 3. Its funny, i was just looking at another spoiler thread when someone mentioned that there were plans to release something in the order of 5 or 6 downloadable areas in the vein of yavin station for KOTOR2, im seriously getting more and more disgusted as i find out about the sacrifices that had to be made for this game to be released, i remember how much i looked forward to fable for the xbox, and while that game failed to deliver on many of its promises (or rather, Molyneux's promises) it was still decent adventure game, as for TSL, well, i guess ive berrated it enough as it is, such a waste of potential, so be it, at least there is Stalker, Oblivion, and (Fingers crossed that it wont be as shoddy as TSL) Neverwinter Nights 2.

You can open those plasteel cylinder with a mine and some demolition skill. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, you can't. If you could open it with demolition skills, then it would say, "Skill too low," rather than "Impossible." And I tried using a Dealy Frag Mine, but no dice. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Huh? Thats strange it worked for me.

Can we truly judge Obsidian based solely on KOTOR2
Saran replied to KOTORFanactic's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yes and No. Most of the anger people feel is justified to a certain extent, however the real question is: Who is to blame. Ive said this in a couple of posts already but it still stands true, if Obsidian are responsible for the "Troubles" surrounding the game then yes, they failed miserably, and it is understandable if someone that is frustrated by all the difficulties surrounding installation/broken quests/ bugs from the original that could have been tracked down easily decides to vent their frustration here, after all only fanboys defend shoddy games, look at troika and the "It wasnt me!" attitude they take to their problems. If however Lucasarts is to blame then, no, it means that Obsidian had greater plans for the game that were cut short by money-loving suits. Personally i intend to do something constructive with my frustration, which is why i have lent my support to the petition, while it will more than likely fail i would rather make it clear that i think that whatever future the IP had, could have been irrevocably damaged by this poor showing, and if lucasarts wish to do right by their customers they should try and fix at least some of the broken quests/endings with a number of patches, or ensure that the sequel will take the time needed to tie up loose ends at the start. (By that i mean have the "Real" ending at the start of Kotor 3, to reveal anymore of how i could see this working might give away too much to those that havent finished the game so ill just say that it could involve the survivors meeting up to discuss all of the events a day or two after the end of TSL, perhaps rescueing party members from slavers, and using multiple choice questions to alter the behavior of the party to match how they were at the end of TSL.)
