  1. Read the thread title in TNOs voice
  2. Ahh, so now even the advocates of this borked design are also admitting that this game doesn't resemble the amazing IE games. Good, very good. We thought we had backed the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate! That's not what he said at all. Why is it that almost every advocate for combat xp is an irritating zealot on the issue? You're not more of an IE game fan for preferring a certain XP reward system so stop trying to monopolise the right to define what is and what isn't a spritual succesor to the Infinity Engine games. And you're still not getting combat xp lol
  3. That strikes me as surprising and rather sad. Don't you like your own language?
  4. No. I'm beggining to think some people are enjoying the anticipation of this game more than the reality. They've been pretty consistent and adamant that the game is coming out Winter 2014 and that's when it should come out. Obsidian are a business, budgets aren't bottomless and it's generally a good idea to do something when you say you are going to do it. Like we've been shown what is a very promising actual game and you would prefer to keep longing after some Platonic ideal of an IE game for another year? Pillars cannot meet expectations you've been nurturing for fifteen, that's ridiculous. How are people not excited for an actual impending release of an isometric RPG but arguing for its continued delay? I seriously don't understand.
  5. There should be more communication. That might sound weird given the 80 + updates over the life of the project but the vast majority of those were very high level conceptual stuff. The first time we saw the actual game was the Giant Bomb EX very recently. Now the beta is out but it's essentially unplayable because of the bugs and almost two weeks later and all we know is it might get updated 'later in the week' via Twitter. It's hard to know what issues are outstanding or have been addressed, which bugs they're aware of, what kind of reporting is more or less useful at this stage. They've got an army of people more than happy to test the game but some direction and feedback is needed. Right now we're just squabbling over combat XP and attributes which may well be completely off the table as far as iterarion or revision and if we knew that we could focus on the things that aren't.
  6. I'm liking the music a lot so far and even though I've only heard the opening 3 or 4 times it's something I can already bring to mind. The small piece after clicking new game sounds like some of the LOTR music, something from the fellowship , maybe shadow of the past which would fit because it's got an ever so slightly foreboding undertone.
  7. Traditional wizards are and always have been an expression of the Jungian wise old man archtype and have easily identifiable traits that betray this. They are wise, elderly and mostly act as a beneveloent and spiritual guide. Saying that this is a recent projection or whatever is completely wrong considering Nestor from Homers Iliyad you know, exists, and that was written over 2 thousand years ago.
