  1. Still full price at my local EB and they are selling the only used copy they have for 5 dollars less.
  2. If it were to happen (fat chance of that) it should retail at no more than 29.99 or less. If you were to hire someone to paint your house and they left after finishing 3/4 of the job, would you pay them the same amount again to finish the job they never finished correctly in the first place????
  3. Anyone else notice that on the lucasarts support section there is a patch for all of the international versions already but none for the US????
  4. It's quite obvious by now that obsidion and LA have moved on to other things. LA made their money and that's all they care about. Obsidian did the job they were paid to do by La and they have moved on as well. If and when the patch is ever released don't plan on getting a second one. It's getting much easier to tell the difference between quality developers nowadays. Irrational recently released a new patch for Freedom Force, a game that was released in 2002 because of problems with Windows XP service pack 2. There is a developer that is definately worthy of the praise and support of the gaming community.
  5. You put up an excellent argument 213374U, but I am afraid that this is one instance where I have to go on the opinion of others. If I was in the position I was recently with plenty of disposable income I almost certainly would buy it now regardless of what I have heard about it. I love the pc gaming industry and I am always happy to support the devs with my money when I purchase their products. Unfortunately I cannot afford to just blow $50 on every game that comes my way anymore. I'll probably get it when the price drops by 10 or 20 bucks. I am anxious to see what all the fuss is about, especially when a game is so loved by some of the consumers that they are willing to spend their own free time making the game realize it's full intended potential by modding it.
  6. Hmmm, I think I based my opinion on the fact that many people have posted about the cut ending, the impossible to finish quests, the quests that go nowhere, the disjointed story, the soundtrack recorded in mono and so on and so on to know a hatchet job when I see one.
  7. I forgot to mention that the lack of responses from obsidian themselves to questions on their own message boards is very dissapointing to say the least. I realize that they are busy and working on other projects but come on. How long does it take to scan the forum, 5 minutes? Try checking out the terminal velocity forum for bloodrayne. The devs are constantly posting there and interacting with the forum members and they have already moved on to other projects.
  8. I actually experienced very few bugs while playing kotor 1 so who knows, kotor 2 may actually run almost flawless on my system. It's not the bugs that bother me, it's the fact that the game was released in a poor, rushed state and I refuse to pay full price for it. I have stated before that obsidion is almost as much of a victim of Lucasarts as the consumers are. They, however, did accept the project and as such must have known from the beginning that they would have been working under serious time limitations. I believe obsidion is a victim of their own ambition.
  9. This is one instance for me where being poor turned out to be a blessing in in disguise. I'm still waiting for the game to hit the $20 bargain bin.
  10. I agree faramirk, I believe that this is one project Obsidion should have passed on. Hopefully it turns out to be a positive learning experience for both the devs and the consumers. Lesson for the devs...don't bite off more than you can chew. Oh yeah, one more thing stay away from Lucasarts. They have proven themselves to be nothing more than money hungry whores. Lesson for the consumers....Caveat Emptor
  11. It sounds to me like game developers need to find new full time professions and try game development in their spare time.We would probably see some truly amazing games then! (w00t)
  12. The funny thing is that in my experience with pc games I have seen that quite often games will recieve more support from the fanbase than from the actual developers or publishers in the form of user made addons and user made patches.
  13. I'm not trying to take anything away from obsidian. I realize that a game of this magnitude required a lot of planning and design but obsidian should have known from the start that they could not do this in a year without hiring a whole lot of extra help. It's obvious that Obsidian wanted to put out an amazing game and that the real evil behind this games failing's is Lucasarts, plain and simple. The fact that people are willing to try to restore the cut content to the game speaks volumes for just how great the game "could" have been. It really is a shame to see what many forum members believe could have been one of the best rpg's they have ever played turned into a muddled buggy mess because of pure monetary greed on the part of the publisher. I wish the people working on this project all the best in your endeavor to restore this game's dignity. In all honesty I truly wish that you were the people working as the developers and publishers in the industry now. If that were the case this whole sorry affair probably never would have happened.
  14. I know I was being a bit unfair but I look at it this way. If my boss gives me a job to do and a set amount of time to do it, if I feel the time is inadequate I ask for more time to do the job correctly. If the answer is no then I ask them to get someone else to do it because I don't like doing half-assed work. I realize that my standards are not everyone's but it's one thing to be ambitious, it's another to have the skills to realize that ambition.
  15. I applaud your ambition but I also hope that you are not setting a bad precedent by doing this. Feargus is probably reading this now and thinking to himself "Hmmm, it looks like the customers are willing to finish our job for us. Lets rush NWN 2 out the door unfinished with all the neccesary files on the cd's and let them finish that game for us as well."
  16. Who cares about a patch? Right now I'm just waiting for the game to hit the bargain bin so I can buy it and not feel like I was completely ripped off.
  17. I believe it all depends on the circumstances. I am one of the few who likes to take a chance and buy $20.00 budget titles. I find that while some are certainly worthy of their "budget title" moniker, I have bought some budget titles that I felt were superior to some full price "legitimate" titles from well known developers. I fully accept that when I buy a budget title that I am gambling with my money and there is a good chance the game will not even be worth 20 bucks. If I buy a game from a company like Lucasarts and spend 50+ dollars on it then I am expecting a certain level of quality. I have a feeling that if I were to buy Kotor 2 that I would be greatly dissapointed. It seems as though the gaming industry has changed so much and not for the better. Instead of releasing a few high quality titles each year the mentality now seems to be lets flood the market with low quality games and make our profits through quantity not quality.
  18. It could be anger directed at the entire gaming industry in general. I remember the days back when pc games were released relatively bug free. Nowadays companies are releasing console games with bugs. That is simply inexcusable on so many levels. I realize that games nowadays are much more complicated then their counterparts a decade past but that is still no excuse for releasing unfinished/bug ridden software. If car companies were to start selling cars in the same condition as publishers sell games with a sell it now and fix it later mentality then I believe the auto industry would soon be a thing of the past. I realize there is a huge difference between the auto industry and the game industry but the principle is the same. It just seems to me that companies no longer take any pride in releasing a quality product.
  19. Shut up N00B. Sorry, couldn't resist. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ahhhhh, now I feel like a true member of this forum.
  20. I'll come back later to see all of the "NOOB" comments that are directed at me.
  21. It's always entertaining watching arguments on message boards. What experience has shown is that the argument will continue indefinately because neither side will ever admit to being wrong. I have witnessed arguments where members have had facts contradicting them thrown in their face and they still refuse to admit defeat or admit that they were wrong. Arguing over the internet is so pointless and idiotic it makes me wonder about the mentality of the offenders, especially when they appear to be intelligent but continue to act like 3 year olds who found their GI Joe with the kung-fu grip broken and are determined to take their angst out on someone.
  22. If ypu really want the pirates game www.gogamer.com has it for under 20 dollars in the dvd case packaging.
  23. I have a tendency to change desktops often. This is one of my tamer, child friendly ones. I'm not a big desktop control freak, basic xp is fine with me.
