  1. Hmmm, why is it that a topic created by a self proclaimed "kotor2 lover" that is less than constructive or helpful is allowed to continue but a topic equally as worthless but at least slightly funny that is critical of the "kotor2 lover" is closed by an almighty moderator after only 4 replies?
  2. SInce the x-box is to blame for the rushed and unfinished state of the game then yes, I do believe x-box owners should be left high and dry. Higher profit on large amount of x-box owners = game rushed out by greedy Lucasarts so they can line their pockets during christmas season.
  3. The perfect example of something's true value and worth is in it's ability to inspire others to create and use their imagination. Nicely done.
  4. I should mention that I still play Fallout 1 and 2 and even with the bad by today's standards graphics I still love them. I think Fallout 1 set the standard for high quality voice acting which is nice to see continued in todays rpg's. As long as a game is fun and engrossing to me graphics certainly don't take first place, although it is nice to have a pretty picture to look at as well. The 256 color low res graphics in Fallout certainly did not hurt my enjoyment of that game. One thing that really made Fallout one of the greatest rpg's of all time to me was the outstanding user manual that came with the game. It's the type of documentation that we simply don't see anymore, a manual designed to enhance the buyers experience with the game. I loved the falloutboy illustrations and the 8 page description of the effects of a nuclear blast at the start of the manual. It's a damn shame penny pinching publishers refuse to allow games to come with good documention these days.
  5. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Bloodlines. Not only is it a great rpg with awesome characters but the graphics are incredible. I still remember the first time I talked to Jeanette in the nightclub. Not only does she look amazing but I have never before seen a voice match the lip synch of the character so perfectly. Troika really did a great job on Bloodlines, it a damn shame to see them go. Bloodlines is an example of what happens when you develop a game for pc's, not for underpowered low res consoles. Unfortunately, that is also what contributed to Troika's demise. If they had released an x-box version of Bloodlines maybe they would have made enough money to stay in business. If you have not tried Bloodlines yet and you love a good rpg then I suggest you do.
  6. Ah, Battlecruiser 3000 A.D. how could anyone forget the game that was released in a pre alpha state. I never played it but then again I understand the people that did buy it did not get to play it much either. One of my favorite Gamespot review quotes: It will go down in legend as the most bug-ridden, unstable, unplayable pieces of software ever released. - T. Liam McDonald That game is proof that long development times do not ensure good games. 7 years in development and barely half finished.
  7. I don't understand what the problem is. I realize I have not been here that long but this is one of the most well behaved boards that I have seen. You want to see Trolls try the gamefaqs forums. What dissapoints me the most is witnessing what used to be a good source of quality games starting the inevitable transformation into the next Electronic Arts. I have played many Lucasarts games starting with Tie Fighter way back when and I have always loved every one of them. It really sucks to witness LA using EA/Vivendi style tactics of rushing game development and releasing unfinished/buggy games. I believe it started with the release of Force Commander. I still remember how horrified I was when I started it up and heard the horrid techno remix of the Star Wars theme. I then tried playing and realized that this was a bad attempt at a real time strategy game. Now with the way they mangled Kotor 2 for the sake of profit I have lost all faith in LA to deliver the quality that they have in the past. It really must suck to be stuck in the middle the way Obsidian is. They have the almighty giant LA ready to stomp them if they make any remarks about the state of Kotor 2 and the deleted material and they have the fans asking for them to complete the game the way they originally intended but they can't do that unless LA admits that they chopped up and rushed the game out for the holiday season and we all know that is not going to happen anytime soon. In the end I believe that this is a battle we simply cannot win.
  8. Hmmm, does anyone else get the feeling that Lucasarts is finally starting to feel the negative feedback from their boneheaded decisions? I can imagine what the discussion between OE and LA must have been like. LA: We hear that there is an uproar on your forums about the fact that we forced you guys to cut the ending to Kotor 2 and ship an unfinished game to consumers. Now legitimate websites like "gamespy" are critizing we gods at Lucasarts. We, the masters of the universe?? OE: Yes sir, that is correct. May I go now sir?? LA: No you may not!! We do not like being critized nor do we like being made fools of. No one must question our perfection. Crush this rebellion now OE, or we will crush you. Close your forums, do whatever it takes. Do we make ourselves clear?? OE: Yes masters!!
  9. Are you sure the old thread was deleted? Someone try this link and tell me if it works. http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showtopic=29764
  10. I must say that I agree with manitsbuggy. My experience with working for large companies is that they always look for the short term quick fix and never look at the long term or the bigger picture. I have been critical of Obsidion but in the end I feel sorry for them. They watched kotor 2 turn into a shadow of what it could have been because of Lucasarts managements greed and stupidity. OE obviously must have take heat from LA because they left all of the cut ending stuff for us to find. If not for that there would not be petitions or numerous complaints about the games rushed and obviously unfinished condition. In the end OE is just as much a victim of LA as we consumers are. I am still going to wait for kotor 2 to hit the bargain bin before I spend my money on it. I apologize to everyone at OE as you have shown that you have the will and the ability to put out an outstanding product, you guys just need to stay clear of publishers like LA who have shown that they care very little for the people who continue to put money in their pockets.
  11. That song reminds me of Tiny Tim, the singer sounds just like him minus the ukelele. Should I be frightened by this?
  12. I certainly understand your feelings. If the male love interest was Kreia then you know there would be threads about how outraged everyone is that they got the nasty old woman and and not the hot handmaiden. From what I hear the romance options in this game are very weak compared to kotor 1. One thing that did bother me about kotor 1 is that when you finally get the kiss from bastila the screen turns black! What, would a visible kiss between 2 characters have given the game an "m" rating or something?
  13. Yet another person who has made me extremely happy that I did not waste my money on kotor 2. Maybe if lucasarts and obsidian take the time to actually complete the game I will consider buying it. Until that day I will spend my money on games by developers and publishers who actually seem interested in delivering a quality product.
  14. You really can't pat obsidion on the back for this since any developer could have made this game and it almost certainly would have sold the same amount. If anything you should be congratulating Bioware since their work on the first game is probably the biggest contributing factor to the seconds sales, not to mention the fact that it's a star wars game which is pretty much a license for lucasarts to print money.
  15. Check the spoilers board and read the cut ending thread. It's up to 35 pages now I believe and so far no one from obsidian has bothered to reply to anyone's questions, so either they can't reply for reasons unknown or they just don't give a crap.
