  1. It all comes down to tastes. Before I didn't mind blowing 3k on a good gaming machine but now I'm 25. Things are a little different. I get about 1 or 2 hours a night to tend to my hobbies. Gaming as a hobby to me is starting to take a back seat to things that are much more important. It comes down to your personal life. Would I spend 3k on a computer now? Hell no. 99 bucks for a PS2 and the extra 2900 for travelling with my girlfriend. I mean I only spend about 5-10 hours a week playing video games on average. Why would I invest 3000 bucks on something that takes up so little of my time? I still get to play video games when I can (and only for 99 bucks... SCORE!) and I get to spend my money on much more important things rather than 'getting the best gaming experience'. I'd rather get a set of mountain bikes for my GF and I and spend my time doing that. Hell, I'd still have a ton of cash to spend. Now some folks just have lots of money to spend. Be it because they have a great job or they live with their parents... like badsight. (Someone that incoherant can't have a job that allows him to afford the big gaming PCs and not be living with his parents) No use arguing about it or trying to tell other folks which one is best and expect them to go along with you. I just stated why I feel CONSOLES (general term here folks) are more practical than PCs. I'd sooner spend the 2 hours I have to play the game rather than tweak it so that latest driver won't crash on me again.
  2. I find it funny how the folks who are doing the 'unofficial content mod' will probably have their stuff out first and it will be what we wanted.
  3. You need a reason to wet yourself? Damn. I do it all the time! (in grampa simpson voice) SOON!
  4. KotOR2 was my favorite in regards to the story and influence. However, for everything else KotOR1 was better and the story to KotOR1 wasn't far behind the KotOR2 story. I have this feeling I missed a bunch of the KotOR2 story though. I noticed that if my party members weren't within a certain distance when i did something their dialog wouldn't fire. I ran through the same part 4 times from the same saved game when I noticed that I missed a conversation. (I was seeing every LS/DS option I could get from that encounter) and I'd say the same thing and do the same thing 4 times and only got the conversation with Handmaiden 2 out of the 4 times. The 2 times I didn't was because she was slightly farther away from me. What really cheesed me off was that it was an INFLUENCE conversation. Has this happened more than once when my party members were lagging behind me and I hit a conversation trigger? Maybe I missed some important story triggers?

  6. Takes me longer than that just to get off Peragus. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Play times vary per person. When i play a game I want to 'see it all'. That means I'll play through trying EVERY side quest, reading/listening to EVERY dialog and trying new strategies (just for fun). That includes when I go through as a different character (4 ways to go through this game LS/DS/MALE/FEMALE) It is impossible to finish the game in 6 hours unless you skip the majority of the side quests and skip all of the dialogue.
  7. Maybe you're forgetting that a PC can do more than just play games. As our technology evolves, new games with better graphics will be released and every-once-in-a-while, the console manufacturers will build a better console, capable of playing, not only the new games, but also the older games...well, except for those f*cking Nintendo idiots. Computers do not become obsolete and defunct, like PS one, and, enventually, Xbox one. As better games are released, with higher requirements, you don't just go out and buy a whole new computer, you just update your drivers, maybe install the latest version of DirectX, which is usually on the game disk. You might have to buy new components, like a new graphics card, processor, or expand your memory about as often as new consoles come out, naturally. This is, of course, assuming that your PC is capable of running modern games to begin with. I'm not talking about updating some old 286 to run Doom 3. Things a PC can do: 1. play games 2. surf the net 3. type 4. cut and edit a home movie (if it's in the right format) 5. watch a movie 6. copy, rip, and burn music (and listen to it) 7. develop a computer/video game 8. create a presentation on power point 9. explore the cut content from that game that was still left on the game disks 10. you Xboxers have the modules for the HK Factory and Droid planet and you you can't do a damn thing about it, unless you extract the files and load them onto a what? That's right, boys and girls: A COMPUTER. You have the content on the disks, but you can't play it, unless you have a computer. It's so close, yet so far away. I'm sure there's other things, but I don't have the time to study my computer and calculate all the degrees of usefulness that a computer has, but an Xbox lacks.. Consoles have the advantage of: playing games without wasting an hour installing it being cheaper playing games limited to that console, but then again, there are plenty great games that you only get for PC, so this one is void. Even the cheapest modern PCs are far more useful than any console could ever hope to be and that is a fact. So, take your little toy console and go play a game because that's all you'll ever being able to do with it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Some folks don't understand. 1.) All of those things you listed a PC can do, I can load up my old P2-400 and do them all. It cost me 300 bucks 2nd hand a few years back for when I was in school. A console is sub 150 bucks Canadian and has been for a few years now (all consoles). 2.) In order for me to run the newest PC games I need cash, and lots of it. 3.) Games made for a console are just that... made for the console. By knowing the hardware set is universal to all, you can make a game that runs damn well on lesser resources. How many clock cycles are lost to ensure that a game is compatible amongst the infinite hardware configurations of a computer? Lost clock cycles = lag. No matter how you slice it, console gaming is better for the casual gamers. Remember this as well. Casual gamers outnumber the hardcore folk. When you see that a console has an 800MHz prcessor you think "wow, my PC is 4 times faster than that!" BZZZZT WRONG! Going with pure numbers, yes that would be true. Going into practicality if the same game was made for a console and then made for the pc (not a port, MADE FOR PC) you would need higher hardware requirements to get the same performance. Look at Doom3. It was MADE for the xbox and it was MADE for the PC. True, the graphics for the PC *can* be better but when they made Doom3 for the Xbox they did some tweaking with the NVidia GPU and found a way to make it run better on the Xbox. No updating drivers or getting a new videocard because you need some new hardware technology to run the game. Just put the disc in and have fun. Now you find a 150 dollar computer that is being made and sold today that can run doom3 and is as readily available as an xbox and I'll consider the arguements. "But the graphics are soooo much better for my PC!!!" Yeah, they are I guess. I don't notice it much though. I do enjoy playing my games on a large TV rather than a tiny monitor. "But you can play PC games on your TV!" Yeah, but who wants to cart their PC around? I just want to sit back on my recliner, drink some beer and play Soul Calibur 2 with some friends. That brings me to another point of interest. Playing multiplayer games on the PC with friends is troublesome. Instead of just plugging in another controller you have to either LAN game (multiple computers...) or get more controllers and all of you watch the same tiny little monitor. I can fit my console system of choice in my bag for business trips. Yeah, you can fit a laptop in your bag for business trips too... but then we are back to paying ~$2k for a laptop where any actual business application doesn't need that kind of hardware. One thing we all have to face is this: Computers were made to do work, not games. The fact that someone made games for them is a testament to their versatility but it is not cost effective at all. For practicality purposes, a console wins the debate every time when LOGIC is brought in and not PREFERENCE. Hell, I am a PC gamer. However, I find console gaming to be more enjoyable and far more practical. It is also cheap entertainment and I can rent my games before buying them. You can't rent PC games and most stores won't take back a game after the seal is broken. Argue this debate into the ground. I've looked at all angles and with an unbiased opinion. I am always looking for the most practical way to get my video gaming 'fix' and consoles are the superior form of videogaming entertainment. Start thinking with practicality in mind and you often come to the best conclusions. Think with your 'feelings' and you are in trouble. (This is advice for purchases only. Don't drop your boy/girlfriend because logic dictates so lol. Can't attach logic to that and win)
  8. Heh, jiggle effect. Well considering they took out the 'I walk like a human' part of KOTOR1 and replaced it with 'Everyone.... do the ROBOT!' I think jiggling was never thought of
  9. I'm just wondering which of the two is the greater evil? One one side, you have two people fighting who have NEVER met one another in any way shape or form that matters. I guess what I am saying is you guys have well over 1000 posts to your count and this isn't a multiplayer game. Now I'd understand this many posts if say, this was an online game and you had formed a guild and you wanted to talk smack to people you have played against. But this is a single player game and has less entertainment value (time-wise) than the amount of time it would take to rack up 1000+ posts. You both go on about how one is intellectually superior to the other but the fact remains.... screw it. I'm gonna go eat lunch instead of finishing this post lol. Conclusion: You both lose. The end.
  10. "They came... from behind!"
  11. Wouldn't he recginze her in the if it was Vash? It's probably either: A) Either nobody important B) A startling revelation <{POST_SNAPBACK}> For a while I thought it could be but I don't think so at all now. I think it's just one of those stories we aren't supposed to think too hard about and try to figure out names. It was just "A Jedi".
  12. KOTOR1 and KOTOR2 were made with a modified version of the Neverwinter Nights game engine. The way they make a cutscene is by transporting your character to the area, applying an invisibility and ghost effect to it and using your character as a camera man. My guess is the script is busted and it fails to send you back to the ebon hawk after the cutscene. Maybe try reinstalling. Other than doing that, I have no clue how to fix it without a toolset.
  13. Once again I don't understand your reasonings. NWN was THE breakthrough of all breakthroughs for RPG games. So, I played their official campaigns (First one was good, 2nd one I didn't like much, 3rd one was just awesome) So now what do I do with my NWN games? Hell, I make my own or play ones made by the community. I witnessed no show-stopping bugs nor have I ever crashed playing it. The game was in development for YEARS. Yeah, the graphics were dated when they released the game but that is understandable considering they had been making this game for so long. Also graphics don't make the game as I'd put NWN against any RPG out there. Actually 2 of the best RPGs I've ever played and I mean EVER was one called Primal (PS2) and Demon Stone (PC, PS2 and others maybe...) Primal flopped sadly. The only beef I had with it was the combat movements and controls were pretty bad. Demon Stone flopped because they made it too short. Damn it was a fun 7 hours though This comes down to tastes, but I fail to see how a game as good as NWN caused you to never buy a product developed by bioware again. It can be argued that the BEST PC game developers of all time are 1.) Blizzard (Great games, even better support. I've NEVER bought one of their games and wasn't satisfied. Well, maybe Diablo2 but only because I hated how many monsters could poison ) 2.) Bioware (Great games, great support, and to a lesser extent....Go CANADA! lol) 3.) Bungie (Great games, not sure about support since Micro$oft bought them.) You have listed 2 of those as companies you'd never buy from again. I'd like to point out that yes, this all comes down to personal tastes. I'd like to also point out that the only games that will be worth a damn buying in the next few years will be made by these 3 companies. Speaking of bungie, I guess I should take them off the list since I only got the 3 Myth games, and Oni so my preferences may not reflect how they are operating now. As for Obsidian. KotOR 2 was actually a damn good game if you ignore the bugs and the missing plots. I'm willing to give them another chance. They've earned it I suppose. I've bought worse games and gave the developers a 2nd chance. Also with regards to backwards compatibility. It worked well for the PS2. They were the only ones who could implement this in that particular generation as Nintendo shot themselves in the foot with cartridges and Xbox is microsoft's first run at the console market. I can see the Xbox-2 having backwards compatibility and if Nintendo decides to try another generation of consoles they'd be stupid not to do the same. I thought it was a bad move with the mini-discs, but they grew on me hehe. I'm not sure how Sony would do this yet again. I think if they do they will not support PS1 games.
  14. List some of your system specs like: CPU type and speed Ram - How much do you have? Sound - manufacturer - Onboard sound or plug and play Video Card - Manufacturer - type - Ram Drivers you are using for your video card Also did you install DirectX9 from the KotOR2 CDs? I found that when I installed their DirectX over my old version of DX9 it solved 90% of my problems. I'm not sure why that fixed my problems other than maybe there were a few updates to the DX9 included with the discs.
  15. Do you guarantee this will work? I'm not a woman, but I'd like to lose a few inches off my beer gut. If this doesn't work I want my money back. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nah I said just try it. I don't stamp it with a guarantee. They can do all the pushups and situps in the world and eat a pound of lard and wash it down with bacon grease and miracle whip and it would have failed by no fault of my own hehe. It works for me. It's far more productive than just bitching about it. THAT I can guarantee I had a girlfriend who tried this when I told her about it. She said she wanted bigger boobs and was thinking on getting augmentations done. I told her to make a chart and start with 10 situps and 10 pushups every morning for a week and then double the numbers. Put a checkmark in the day that you complete these exercises. Keep doing it for a few months. Her chest actually got smaller but she firmed up and she lost some of her gut and they 'looked bigger' so she was happy. She had more energy through the day and she stopped drinking coffee because of it. I say give it a shot. The worst that could happen is you quit.
  16. Resident Evil 1 was released on PC quite a while after it was made for the Playstation. In fact I think it came out AFTER resident evil 2 was released for the PS1 and PC. They stopped porting these titles to PC simply because there was no market for it. Same goes for Final Fantasy games. 7 and 8 both came out for PC and then they stopped because the market was just too small. People figured out that getting a $200 console was a better solution for these games and many other titles. All the PC has to offer that a console does not is improved graphics and a little more customization (Patches and 3rd party software). These little perks aren't worth the extra $1000 dollars for a computer system. I find console graphics to be very good and just being able to sit back on my recliner and play a game on a large screen TV with fast loading times, little or no crashing and not having to sit at a computer desk for recreation is great. I can't use my computer while sitting in my comfy recliner so consoles won the battle hehe.
  17. What the hell is this all about? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I find physically fit women with a pretty face beautiful. If women don't like this, I'm not going to change my preference over a bunch of moaning and whining. There are some barriers that have been broken in the male domain to allow females to take part in. Some barriers will never be broken however simply because of genetics. For example, heavy manual labor. Men have this market sealed simply because women lack the strength, durability and endurance to do this job for any extended period of time. However men can't give birth to children What about all of those men who want to give birth to children and cannot... (yes this is a joke) Anyhow, the point is my preference for women is I like them to enjoy looking sexy and I like them to be physically fit. If that isn't good enough for the feminists then I guess they can leave me alone. I for one will not be pestering them to change. I mean, hell. I wear 'revealing' clothes and I'm a guy. Revealing meaning I love to wear jeans and a tight t-shirt. I don't see the out of shape/fat guys complaining. Maybe the women should follow suit and allow the women who have it to flaunt it. In this game, Visas, Handmaiden, Mira etc have it. It is natural for them to flaunt it in some way. When was the last time you saw a fat person practicing sword play and live a life of heavy combat? KOTOR1 and KOTOR2 is just realistic. And a note on boobs. (I can't believe I'm even discussing this ) LOTS and I mean LOTS of women have exceptional breasts in this world. The problem is their gut pokes out just a little more. They are flaunting them, but that beer tumor around their mid section is stealing the spotlight. Try doing some push-ups and sit-ups if you have this problem. Only takes 10 minutes a day. You can do that before you eat breakfast. Using that 10 minutes will also help you avoid that 2nd helping you don't need.
  18. You have 2 choices in life for every confrontation or disagreement you will ever be involved in. 1.) Buckle up, put on the head gear and swing back. 2.) Turn the other cheek and say 'Get used to it' Guess which choice will do nothing. Guess which choice the people who always lose pick. Learn to fight back or people will walk all over you. This applies to everything in life. The human race is not civilized. The human race is a pack of wolves looking to feed off the weakest prey they can find and do so in numbers. We just do it differently, we use politics. Politics is the worst form of combat there is. It's where people stop thinking for themselves and is lower on the evolutionary chain than a lion fighting another lion for territory. At least the one deserving of the territory gets it. With politics even the weakest, least deserving 'lion' has an equal chance to win. Right there is proof that the human race is destined for failure. It also explains a lot of why elected officials even get to where they are A bit of a tangent here, but very much applicable to the topic. I'd sooner see people express their dislike of how things are going rather than just accept it.
  19. I'll admit, I have been a PC gamer for a decade now. Every game that came out was always better on the PC and consoles couldn't handle the complexity of PC games and therefore were PC only games. The future is the console. It is inexpensive compared to a PC. It runs games much more smoothly than a PC and I've never owned a console game that had "show-stopper" bugs in it. PC games always try to push the latest technology. I HATE that concept. You get a brand new computer system and a game already forces you to upgrade or play with several features turned off for frame rates. Also the driver issues inherant with PC games is enough to make me sick these days. So a few years back I got myself a PS2 and a Gamecube. The games are great on these consoles. I have a computer right now that can run ANY work-related application and it is complete overkill. However it doesn't run all the best games. I'd have to get a new system every 6 months at 1500 bucks a shot to keep up or I can buy a console that will last an average of 4 years for 200 bucks. Console gaming is far superior to PC gaming with it's lower frustration levels. I've never had a console game that became unplayable yet I've had PC games become unplayable. Upgrades to DirectX and drivers have made many of my older games unplayable. In all honesty, I hope that one day PC gaming goes down the tubes and computers are once again used for what they were made for, work applications. Soon a console will come out that will be able to support the complex games and when that happens PC gaming is going to be destroyed. It is sad, but the way the game producers just HAVE to push the technologies for the latest hardware is really getting on my nerves as the games become eye candy and nothing more. This is the last computer I'll buy for many years. It runs Autocad, MS Office, C++, Java Development Kit, Visual Basic and it can burn my projects to CD and DVD. It will do so for the next 5 years most likely. I can play music in the background while I work and surf the net for any information I need. A console is built to play games. Games are developed solely based on it's hardware specs and I never have to look at the minimum requirements for a game. As long as it has the console logo on it, it will run. People look at patches as something great for the PC. I look at them as a crutch. I've had KotOR2 for over a month now and I've had my fun with it and the patch is STILL not out yet. I really don't care if it ever comes out honestly. It will not affect me in the slightest. What this did was turn me into a console gamer from a dedicated PC gamer. Also Hades. I really don't get you sometimes. You say that you don't like blizzard now? I've always looked at blizzard as the gaming company every other company strives to be. I've never had problems with their games. Diablo, Diablo2, Warcraft, Warcraft 2, Warcraft 3, Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. Each one was an instant classic and oozed quality.
  20. Sorry, I don't get it. "steps of getting it released"??? Upload the file using a ftp client. That's it. Or did I miss something? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nah. Upload it to the testers. They test it (bwahaha right...) and make sure it works and doesn't break any "rules". Any changes that are needed go back to Obsidian where they mess about with it again and they go through the whole process once again until QA says: "Looks good" When Obsidian gets the "looks good" confirmation they will then put it on a server for downloading and pray that QA did their job.
  21. The humor. Lots of little things you or your party members do and say
  22. I'm trying to figure out the reasoning behind Hades' hate towards NWN. Any chance he gets to bash it, out comes the hammer Is it because it is not Star Wars related? hehe.
