Story path/direction in relation to K1
dufflover replied to dufflover's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
They could've had the Exile and Revan meet (although like I said I would've preferred Revan was just left alone completely) without all this fancy Unknown Region stuff though -
i almost died from boredom in K1 when you ran in the water in the environment suit... but then i saw this horribly lame cutsene in which a guy in another suit got snatched up by a shark, and i couldn't stop laughing <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The work around I used for that was to always activate Force Speed before leaving the Hrakert station interior - can't remember if I did the same on Peragus. Still, I declared Peragus to be too boring before then anyway.

Which Jedi Master least deserved their fate?
dufflover replied to Sikon's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Are you referring to ? Well with what happened in the game, yes I agree with you but then I suppose it would've been an even bigger waste of the character/art than it already is. -
Interesting...sort of - doesn't make it any more "real" than how it already is though

To get the optimal resolution (assuming LCD) go to your Windows Desktop/Display Control Panel and whatever resolution it is on will be the best resolution for your games. There is a lot more to this but for now I'll keep it simple.

Story path/direction in relation to K1
dufflover replied to dufflover's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The Mandalorian Wars ended in 3,960 BBY, while Revan and Malak found the Star Forge and claimed themselves Sith Lords a year later, in 3,959 BBY. However, Revan knew about the Trayus Academy on Malachor during the Mandalorian Wars and, studying the Sith lore, was already on the path to the dark side. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not big on the EU thing so what exactly does this all mean? I take it by that Trayus Academy reference you are saying it doesn't matter when they learnt about the Star Forge because they were already on the DS path? or that they learnt about it before going off, which started their DS path? btw, one key factor here is that Revan knowing about the Trayus Academy and stuff is that this is stuff from K2. -

The whole fully clothed Revan thing on Dantooine is why it is not possible to fully say whether Revan was seduced by the Star Forge before or during the Mandalorian war. What's wrong with being a Jedi by day but secretly a Sith (with accompanying costume...) at Night? -

They didn't. There was no transformation. Bioware created this character from the outset as someone on a quest (ie wild goose chase) to stop the Sith. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No they didn't - Obsidian said this. BioWare just had this Sith Lord who went to fight the Mandalorian's, and then either while fighting them or using them as an excuse to go out and look, discovered the Star Forge and seduced by power and domination - the familar fate of fallen Jedis. -
Which Jedi Master least deserved their fate?

Very interesting poll...*starts thinking* Well firstly I don't think it's that fair to include Dantooine (or at least people on Dantooine from K1 and went to Katarr) because K2 really made the Jedi Masters super annoying and arrogant (way more than in K1). As a small side, I was really disappointed with the lack-of a Jedi vs Sith showdown after finding them all(especially for an LS player); I reckon it was an attempt at unpredictability to make it good; it was unpredicted...but not good. I'm not saying they were perfect in K1 either with the whole deception thing either but all relative, K2 was much worse (perhaps even making them a bit stupid as well) Anyway even though I disagree with what happened, I based my poll choice on what happened in game and so I voted Master Zhar (Dorak would've been 2nd, Vandar 3rd): - because of what I said above, I wouldn't vote for any of the Masters in K2 cos like I said, they were turned into stupid sissies. - Although Zhar would've known about the plan with Revan he wasn't scripted to say anything on it which worked in his favour of not being deceptive and all. - He did a good job training the player in K1. Edit: I guess because Lonna Vash never got a real go to express any views (I know, cut content, but it's just...different without it being acted) so she also was a possibility, but yeh, lack of info. I'd sympathise with Atris (and Nihilus...) for having their roles and models/looks downsized. -
lol, it took me ages to remember what this space walk thing on Peragus was all about (considering how I hate Peragus why would I want to remember). Anyway from what I do recall it's not exactly something which makes or breaks if you like it or not...

Story path/direction in relation to K1

I think it was just so they could make a little quest of putting together a lightsaber (trying to out-do K1's pick-a-colour-any-colour). -
Gotta admit, I didn't expect many votes on liking Peragus at all...

Story path/direction in relation to K1
dufflover replied to dufflover's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Because Kreia is in the game and I mean the game practically revolves around her good/evil neutral thing. I mean at least in K1 Jolee was a "good guy" and bit more realistic in neutral being that he is in-different to some acts of lesser DS (like lies and stuff) but Kreia, as the other thread talks about is really evil in what she wants to do even if she thinks it's neutral. OK, to come back to the relation to K1, I think Kreia is in someways the product of how Obsidian has twisted the original story - all these things come from her mouth. -
Story path/direction in relation to K1
dufflover replied to dufflover's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The idea of Revan falling to the dark side out of some sense of greater good is indeed absurd. However, neither KOTOR 2 or Obsidian "made" him/her that. They made a character that thinks that's what happened. This character just happens to be a senile old woman that, by all accounts, wasn't there during the wars and had no idea what went through Revans head. Her opinion can be easily dismissed. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So why then did Obsidian transform the "remade" Revan into some Sith hunter on a wild goose chase. It's like in K1 one of the themes coming from the whole Revan deal is "you are who you are now" sorta things, which well no suprise, didn't work too well with the Exile when I thought along those lines too in the dialog. Well in terms of K1 story what I'm saying is that you have (assuming LS) played a character who really is a whole new person, yet here he runs off on this chase, and if you think about it, turning into the person he was before trying to stop the True Sith (and this isn't Kreia's fantasies alone) -

Well what if K2 had never touched Revan then? Revan only made such an impact because of what was said in K2 (K1 never said said he'd run off or was fighting "True Sith"). I would've been quite content with how Revan/Bastila/Carth ended in K1 if they were never dealt with in K2. Sure I would've liked a bit more dealing with Revan/Bastila romance like in the movies but better leaving it in the ending K1 had rather than just have him run off. Again, just completely different to the character from K1 -
No, but in real life you need make-up to make the actors look better through a camera, plus even the closest matching Bastila still needs to be tweaked with make-up.

Story path/direction in relation to K1
dufflover replied to dufflover's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I guess one way for me to put it (but it is quite simple but follows what seems to be going on); in K1 you are part of the story, where as in K2 all you seem to be doing is following someone else's. When you go to back to K1 it just seems to make the Star Forge and the Rakata redundant and stuff. I mean you can say the same about Taris (why help a planet you now know is doomed) but the key here is that this particular story part was dismissed by K2, not in the same game - so the end result is a K2 effect on K1. -
Removes the random space turret game sequences. The story based ones are still there, which I actually think is good so it at least keeps them in the game at some points. And no, it's not because I suck at the turret game (I actually don't see how you could lose at all in that) - anyway, yeh, it got repetitive.

Firstly, this is not really a K1 vs K2 thread. I just want to gauge at what people think of K1 now after playing K2 - a poll is a bit hard here but hopefully I've covered some of the probable feelings - if something is close to what you think, vote it for it then clarify in a post rather than choosing Other. In case the wording is unclear, I tried to make it so it goes from top to bottom, happy to unhappy. OK basically what this is about is, storywise, how you look upon K1 now that you've played K2. I certainly found the story weird, and all that Revan story elements bad - both the pre-KotOR Revan Sith being for the greater good, and then running off after all that hard work winning/saving Bastila . Some more examples of what I mean to discuss in this thread: - Not liking things like the new take on Force Bonds and stuff is itself not part of the thread cos as far as I know, it has nothing to do with K1/Revan/Sith. Yes it was a result of something in the KotOR story but really nothing dealt with in K1 game. Although you can mention it if you didn't like other K2 stuff as well. - "Cut content ruined the game" doesn't have much to do with it...I think. - The Matrix sequels then go back and watch the original...is it just the same? is it all weird now? - Half-Life 2 for me had a similar effect; this whole new "greater" threat deal. Anyway, see how we go and I hope I haven't made a goose of myself.

Edit: The "any of" part refers to that I think there are many versions of the mod. This is something I guess spawning from the Taris/Peragus discussion currently going on (and the one that I made a while ago), except this is not a comparison thread as such. Well I hate Peragus but I'm a bit relunctant to use the mod unless it's balanced and importantly, DOES NOT give you a lightsaber (is there one like that? I haven't checked for a while). As a side, I consider "skip peragus" a bit like the "no fighters" mod from K1 - the only mod I'll ever use.

Looks like we've extended past just Taris and Peragus....(I still say Taris/Dant beats Peragus/Telos) [quote name='

I *think* I get you - and from what I think you said I don't think so. Doesn't have to be perfect but don't deliberately add an imperfection either. She's supposed to be a sexy swoop racing prize as well. Unless Jennifer Hale suddenly turned back the clock I don't think she could do it as well.

Atton would probably make a passing shot on Mira but besides from that I don't see much in the party as a whole. All the others besides Mira and Bao-Dur have some 'standout' feature/personality.
-
Some of the more commonly mentioned names that have been floating are Kate Beckinsdale, Rachel Weisz, Jennifer Hale herself and Keira Knightly. Ofcourse there are definitely others as mentioned. I would say Kate Beckinsale is closest (the Underworld look she had reminds of the Bastila artwork where she has her hair down), Rachel Weisz second. Jennifer Hale would obviously have the closest (exact) voice but I don't think she looks as close to Bastila as the others.

Revan and exile verus Tolwyn from wing commander
dufflover replied to dewaybe2678's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Lol, in any game like this aren't you a mass murderer? All the people you kill in Sith bases? All the Stormtroopers you kill as Kyle Katarn...over 2 games, etc. I say he was just following orders...or got desparate/panicked....or in the pressure decided it was worth it, so yeh I suppose. I never bought that Obisidian/LA BS from the start anyway... Yeh, "damn straight" Definitely one of the more out-reaching threads.
