Osvir, everyone in every state are to be held accountable for their governments. In Israel we have elected our government and it has received the majority of the votes. the situation is identical in Gaza were the people there elected the Hamas and therefor are also held accountable for their government (the hamas) actions. When a democratic country is not pleased with its government there are actions that can be taken to replace that government. As for Israel point of view, until someone else is brave enough to go to Gaza and make them stop from firing missiles at Israel or digging murder tunnels while hiding behind human shields in hospitals, schools and civilian houses I am afraid it will be up to Israel to protect itself. At the moment I don't see anyone else lining up to do the job, Its one thing to send others to their death and pleading to be righteous. Its an entirely different thing to put your own neck at the line. I have put my neck on the line more than once in order to defend the innocents, what about you? Ps - The likud are the ones behind the peace with Egypt.

In what order will you play the upcoming 3 rpgs
Erez replied to Sammael7's topic in Computer and Console
POE wins easily. Wasteland 2 looks lackluster and a step back from fallout 3 new vegas, Dragon age 3 will have to wait for stunning reviews on metacritic since Bioware sex appeal was dealt a serious blow with dragon age 2 and mass effect 3 fiasco, there were too many hostiles emotions in play. -
LOL. This I must say is a really low level of trolling. Those aren't weapons, those are tools. Sure, there were apparently some slingshots, but those are mostly harmless anyway. It was a wasteland, most of the country was barren following the Turkish need for wood for their trains. Do some research and you will see the development of the country in the last 130 years and the large immigration from arab countries into it. a 130 years ago it was a shadow of its former self from the times of the roman empire and Israeli kingdoms. There was nothing harmless about the melee weapons on that boat, you are kidding yourself to claim otherwise. A sling or a crawbar could easily kill a man. Military research cooperation. No, really. That's a strawman argument fueled by hate, Israeli military cooperation with the USA can be found all around the USA army. The USA is only enjoying exclusive contracts with Israel. There were many times in the past when the USA dictated Israel on who to sell and what not to developed. there are some factories which are no longer working in Israel because the USA wants Israel to by from the USA in order to create more jobs in the USA. Its a two way street. About spying, The last case of accused spy is Jonathan pollard from the eighties, it doesn't mean there aren't more spies. But you cannot claim someone is guilty without providing proofs, governments like to play the game of putting political pressure on their international colleagues by putting such things to the press. Obama did this stunt a few months back, he spoke about making it easier for Israelis to get a visa to the USA only in order to demonize our government later when accusing us of using that breach to send more spies. About spying in general, everyone has spies, including the USA. I recommend making a short to find which friendly countries spied on the USA lately and opposite. http://rt.com/usa/nsa-spies-israel-un-565/ http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2014-07-11/news/sns-rt-us-germany-usa-spying-formin-20140711_1_u-s-spy-chief-steffen-seibert-chancellor-angela-merkel

Meh, I don't like Erdogan much at all but he certainly wasn't to blame for the frigid relationship with Israel. Israel started the whole thing with a truly moronic stunt and then outright murdered (note the number of times 'shot in the back of the head' turns up; you can also read the 66 page UN report on the matter if you want) a number of Turkish nationals. Can you really be this naïve? https://www.flickr.com/photos/israel-mfa/sets/72157624179998488/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsLW5WjlH6g I agree it was moronically handled by the Israeli government, there were much better ways to disable the ship that would have reduced the friction a lot, at the time we were suffering from commando elite who tended to push their commandos for every assignment. But it doesn't change the fact that there was nothing humanitarian about the Marmara. Really? http://www.idfblog.com/hamas/2013/01/25/seven-years-later-gazas-reality-under-hamas/ You coat the Israelis Zionist with the evil allure, while presenting yourself as a student of history at the same time. The history of the region is much more complicated than that of European invaders, its a big philosophic and historical debate, this is why these territories are disputed. The claim of the arabs in Israel whose majority origin is from nearby Arab states and have immigrated to Israel in the 18 and 19 centaury is on the same ground of the jews of live in Israel whose majority immigrated in the 18 and 19 centaury. Its is also important to note that there are 2 million none jews living in Israel. Far more than there were back when Israel was wasteland, far more than the number they were in 1948, and don't kid yourself, Israel was a wasteland before the jews begun to immigrate to it In masses following late 18 centaury. http://www.targetofopportunity.com/palestinian_truth.htm This is just a taste of the region short history, in order to truly understand the conflict you have to read back at least three thousand years. Until that happens I assume it is easier to pick the side of the people of gaza elected hamas over the people of Israel after all they are such a swell bunch.

Somewhere i hear such justifications... yes criminals like use such rhetoric. That's a strawman argument, every action you make in this world has consequences, some more visible and immediate than others. By not demanding the people of Gaza responsibility for their actions you put them in the same statues of undeveloped children. This reminds me of the old welfare debate, do we give money to the poor and deprive them of a chance to succeed on their own, or do we help the poor get a job and establish their self worth. I believe that if people of the world took less pity on the people of Gaza and instead demanded of them to dust off and build a state, they would have abandoned their ways of self pity and terror a long time ago, and instead of a terror state we would have had a great tourism resort with humos and nargilla. We have no problems with world, but when it comes to the safety of our citizens and keeping our country rockets and terror free, we have to push some criticism to side. Here in Israel we do not look kindly to people from countries whose war history ethics were a lot bloodier than ours tell us we should sacrifice or endure constant threats in order to save face for the rest of the world. There are imaginary wars and there are real wars, when under attack, countries all around the world have acted to defend themselves. Unfortunately civilian casualties are part of the reality of war, more so in case where your enemy hides behind its own civilians in order to fuel its propaganda machine. We do not take joy in killing civilians, sure there may be a few zealots who will, but most Israelis will outright tell you they just want peace, you will hear of no arabs massacredin Israeli streets by a flaming mob of Jews, we just want to live our lives in peace. As to other solutions regarding the conflict and the disputed territories, sure a solution must be found but it is irrelevant to the gaza conflict. Israel retreated from gaza in 2005 and hamas doesn't want to find a peaceful solution, it wants to kill all Jews. Until Hamas change its ways or the people of gaza change their leadership, we will have to keep defending ourself against the hostile state of gaza in the same way countries all around the world have always done, By Shooting Back

Bulls****. Millions of poeple? There's no way to tell. Japan was already close to the breaking point. A simple blockade was all that was necessary - heck, no even that. If you are defending, then the purpose of the war is to push the enemy out of your territory. Once you cripple the army of the enemy, there is no further need for war. Bombing the nemy to stone age, entering his territory (and taking it away) becasue ti's necessary "to secure peace" is BS. Japan didn't have enough fuel left for even a small fleet. What danger did it presen to the US? None. The US could have just waited it out. But they didn't. And why should palestinian civilians die in droves for the sake of (maybe) a few Israelis? in order to break your enemy you have to inflict a heavy damage on them, in order to keep your strength you have to keep wars as short as possibile. The usa could not allow to world war 2 to drag any further, the Japanese were resilient and very brave, a blockade could have take a long time, and just leaving would mean the japanese would gather their strength in time. The Palestinians have made their decisions, their deaths is on their hands not the israelis. , no country should apologize for being stronger than its aggressive enemy. Israel did not start this war nor did we want it, but you can bet we will finish it. This fighting session is coming to an end, if i was in charge and not bibby things would have looked very differently, the world opinion is important. But since most of the people in the world are too lazy to do their homework and like preach from the sideline without any risk we have to look for ourselves and protect ourselves. Thousands of missiles were fired at Israel, dozens of plans to infiltrate and start a murder spree against civilians were terminated, the threat is real enough but we will continue to fight to protect ourselves despite people who wish we just fell over and died.

I just got back from a month tour in gaza(Tank Fighter) Proportional Response Proportional response in this situation means sacrificing civilians and soldiers for the sideline viewer half way across the world and have zero clue about the situation. In august 6 1945 the USA ended world war 2, if they allowed it to drag on, Japan would have been devastated and both sides would have lost million more lives. In this conflict proportional response means more suffering to the Israeli and Palestinian people.More on topic and a question for those who think the Israeli response towards the Hamas state is too harsh. Why should Israeli people die just to please the lazy person who didn't bother to learn more about the situation before stating his opinion on the web? I am serious, please, stop trying to kill me. Civic Responsibility - People in gaza voted for Hamas, Hamas is the true democratic government of the Palestinians, if the people in gaza are unhappy with the situation they should change their government, since there are only very few people who dare to speak up against Hamas(they usually end up being executed) The conclusion is either they are cowards or content with the situation. Until they decide they want to change their leadership, Hamas will keep using them as human shields against Israeli retaliation attacks. If you really want to know more about the Israeli Palestinian conflict then I recommend digging deep into the region 3000 years old history and reading more about the backstage politics of the middle east. Key Word - Oil.

Thanks for responding, I have just recieved a little vacation back to real life after extremely being busy for almost a month. Once I have completed writing a short story, where would you recommend I post it in order have Obsidian look it over? DarthDeven, I am a little afraid of posting my ideas online for everyone to see, but if I will reach a dead end with Obsidian i will be more than happy to share it with you.

First I would like to tell you, you aren't bad at witcher 2 styled action game, mastering witcher 2 takes timing, you have to dominate the art of the roll in order to find witcher 2 easy ) In mass effect 3 they added story mod, which supposedly required very little from the player in terms of skill. if the developers make a game without (levels in mass effect 3 means very little for imported characters since the enemies level with the player) they should simply add more difficulties. Half life 2 had only 3 difficulties, many games have embraced 5 game difficulties to allow for broader range of player skills. Playing the mass effects game on easy would make you feel like a super badass since the enemies will easily fall before you and barely manage to scratch being your kinetic shields. The ability to become an even greater hero can be explained by acquiring new powerful item unavailable to the player at the beginning of the story, these items can serve as a decent plot device which fit in the tight time schedule of a game story. If the game no longer requires, and only require a person to level up then it alienate a large number of players who would find the game dull, this is the case with many mmorpg, WOW, age of conan, guild wars 2 and etc.

You knew what I meant. Baldurs gate 2 http://baldursgate.wikia.com/wiki/Valygar_Corthala
-
Good Post, which I am sure helps on this topic, I admit I didn't remember much of valygar except that he was the rebel, I didn't even keep him as a regular party member in bg, but I was looking for a nonwhite character, and I guess they just didn't create any alpha black characters yet in gaming. The rest of the people I mentioned still stand and if I needed to replace Valygar with someone else I would put in Twinsen. Heck Twinsen should probably open the list. Sexual encounter between two people doesn't really have a time requirement, you don't even need to speak the same language and I am not talking about buying sex either. When two people click they can go at each other after a few hours or less. Its important to remember that companions in games experience memorable and exciting things which are known to bond between different people, the conversation to activate the romance are just a bonus. I was surprised there weren't more of jack style romance, when she calls Shepard on his bull**** and just initiate sex. In order to improve romances I would actually recommend minigames like in Larry, so you would feel more involved.

Being a skill-based game is already a huge immersion breaker. Geralt the badass warrior can't fight for beans because I'm terrible at action games? How does that not break immersion more than anything to do with leveling up? This is what game difficulties are for ) Bad skilled players would play Witcher on easy while greatly skilled player would play on hard. the majority would play on normal. This way, everyone gets to play a badass Geralt according to their skills, it works quite well. I don't see how leveling up is related, since every game have to stay challenging up until the end.

I just thought I give a few names of the best alpha males I ran across in the industry 1) Captain Titus (The Leader) 2) The Warden (The Leader - Rebel - Bad Boy Mixture) 3) Niko Belic(Bad Boy), Not as good looking. but like many criminal types his strong personality and confidence project Alpha 4) Valygar (baldurs gate 2) (The Rebel) 5) Benny - New Vegas - Its all about the style Baby.

Yes and no. If you do a certain amount of push ups you will increase your potential but at one point you will hit a limit and your improvement rates will be very minor and sometimes you would even do less than your maximum. Some skills in fallout 3 makes no sense, it doesn't matter how skilled you are with a weapon a child holding a rifle will do the same damage as a grizzled veteran. If you enter the shoes of a best human commando(mass effect) your improvement rate will be very little and you might even experience reduction in your abilities, In dragon age the player is among the best of the best, yet the progress he makes during his career as a warden is too big and in order to compensate the enemies are leveled. Many games do this. The famous baldurs gate had leveled enemies, (people in amn were surprisingly a lot tougher than their northen friends) witcher 2 where the heavily armored knights from the beginning are a joke compared to the bandits and heavily armored knights at the end. Instead of leveling up, why not simply focus on more customization options. In fantasy setting progress would be measure with learning new moves and spells. in science fiction setting, Modding the armor to grant certain abilities would be enough. Traits like special in fallout 3 would still have their place since they help you define your character initial traits. I think roleplaying is more about playing a role than leveling up. Leveling up was important for D&D and such where all you had going for you was dice, if its a dice based game then I suppose leveling up is still in order. But if its a skill based game then level is a huge immersion (Roleplaying) breaker. In mass effect I start the game with max level and all upgrades available, I find it more immersive and it also gives the story better pace. It only make sense that a spectre would already have the best available equipment.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance looks nice, I don't know about its rpg mechanics or story though. But going FP is a step in the right direction. Never winter 2 and Dragon age origins both had decent stories but lackluster combat hindered the gaming experience, the environment due to top down control just look weird. You can freely eat and drink while playing one of those games and the kite strategy so dominant in these kind of games gets old fast. Witcher 3 is coming out soon, it will most likely be a hit. Edit : Thanks for making this thread, Kingdom Come, reminds me of my rural travels in Chile, it looks great and very promising.

This is what made the road appealing, it strayed away from the heroic path and told a more personal story in an apocalyptic time. You can still make time triggered events to be heavily influenced by the player actions, its the ability to calmly eat an apple which I find so appealing. Yup, homophobes exist. I don't see how that has anything to do with why bisexual romances in fiction are a bad thing. I am all up for having gay romances in video games, turning them away gently in bioware games made my in game experience more awkward and fun, sort of like what samantha traynor felt.
-
Most simply means 51% or more It gives enough room for many other types. In the end of the day when you look around and see who women are paired with you noticed most women are paired with men. And those who have the easiest time with the majority of women are those who act more manly (Confident types.) As for your examples, First-Angel is the reliable(Still Alpha - Garrus) Second-Dracula is the the badboy- Rebel)( Still alpha - Thane) And third is the broken type (Male elf from dragonage and Anomen ) , There are many fixers out there but less than those who are drawn to alpha. Strangely enough, most women I know have an intense dislike for alpha-type guys and find men on men sex totally hawt. I don't know what this says about the women I generally interact with. Edit: OTOH, Bio also creates ****ty romances for men, so... hardly misogynistic? I think its mostly about how you guys define alpha. Ask them if they ever been with a man who experienced man on man sex and if not, if they interested in seeing a movie about it? since they think its hawt.

Thank you all for your input, I would like to throw a few more thing in favor of timed events, it has becoming more prevailing in time based games with to give npcs schedules. They eat, work, sleep and even hang around the bar at night. A year ago, I played D&D as a dungeon master with my friends in a time based adventure, I have placed several timed events in motion: 1) Village Carnival and Lord son wedding. 2) The arrival of a knight to the village who is investigating into a mining town near the border going quite. 3) A large enemy force moving toward the village, scheduled to arrive thirty days in game time. Their actions could have shaped the future. Will they aid the knight, or scout ahead on their own, gaining knowledge of possible enemy activities. Will they stick around and help the village when time come. Maybe they will decide they want to go a completely different way and only hear about the devastating fate of their families some time after. The player must have some clue in regard to possible future events, and a have a decent amount of time to do something about it. But having the entire world static, sort of break immersion for me since it encourage me to meta game. Take Fallout 3 new Vegas for example. (Spoiler alert) You could easily tell that finding benny would change the game story state. Not surprisingly, just as you exited the tops casino you were informed the legion has made and advance and everyone now wants to be your best buddy. (even if you made your way straight to benny). There is also the ending when you get to decide when the legion will invade to hoover dam, basically giving you time to thin out the legion or Ncr until there was no one left alive. In Neverwinter 2 , you got to decided when the final invasion will occur. Baldurs gate 2 Imoen - It doesn't matter if you took your sweet time or sold one of your kidneys to get aboard a ship, the result would still be the same leading to a very linear gameplay exprience. I think that beyond the feeling of urgency or lack off, having no time affected events, fails to reward players who are invested in the story and make the right decisions and fails to reward players who just want to fool around, creating a much more linear and predictable experience. In a way we fear missing content and the price is losing ability to truly influence the world we are immersed in. Waiting around for something to happen, Can be solved by giving the character more fun things to do while he waits: exploring, meeting people, enjoying the local bar, sleep, read books, train, craft. Before you know it, enough time has passed a fella with very interesting new reach the local meeting place or local news channel. And since some actions take time to occur like the legion crossing for example, you can simply intercept them as they make their way towards hoover dam, leading a group of rangers in guerrilla warfare. The Nightkin who arrived every night to kill mutated cows in new Vegas, instead of lurking around pressing the wait button, you should have been able to locate him in black mountain. The Ncr spy, you should have had more means to discover who he was that wouldn't require your arrival at an exact time. It will require extra scripting, but not more than any alternate quests paths. The result will be a shorter game due to more content missed.

Bioware are well known for their limited romance choices for girls. Dragon age - Choice between the wimpy, The bi Mass effect - Choice between the wimpy bi, the bird, the frog and normal guy who cheats on them. Creating an attractive choice for women isn't hard, all you have do is create a handsome and faithful alpha male(The Leader). In order to offer more options for girls who like to be the fixers you need to create a mysterious handsome guy with issues.(The Rebel). There is also the balanced guy, funny guy, who is the reliable interesting friend. In mass effect the bird was the funny guy, the frog was the rebel and Jacob was supposed to be the alpha male but turned out to be a beta male or less. Ps - I have nothing against Bi, I just know most women find men on men sex an unattractive trait.

In most computer games, the player is allowed to roam free and take things at his own pace, knowing only certain actions will trigger world events, in a rare few you have events triggered by the passing of time.(mostly older games) I think that A to activate B mentality, occurs mostly due to the developers wanting to make sure the player doesn't miss on any content (Essentials NPCS also suffer from this issue). In life one of the most valuable assets we have is time and how we are going to utilize it. I think that having a gaming world where big events a triggered due to the passing of time will increase the feeling of urgency when roaming between quests, and give a higher incentive to avoid less important tasks. It can also work in a free roam world, where you mostly just want to do you own thing by making it feel more alive. Take New Vegas for example, lets say you wanted nothing to do with the war between the Legion and NCR, and decided you just wanted to be an adventurer, time will pass and the world will change depending on your choice, or lack of choice. A good example for a timed world event is Fallout 1 with the Vault Dweller. So what do you guys thinks? Do time triggered events have a place in computer games and if so how could they best be used?
