This made me think of Blue String Soup. I might try making that on Friday when the nephews come over. How many housemates did you have afterwards, and what exactly was in these cookies?

Your Top 10 NPC's of All Time!
SteveThaiBinh replied to jaguars4ever's topic in Computer and Console
Not undone, I thought - the odd hint about her history and motivations to add depth, but not so much as to draw the focus from the impact of her two encounters with the PC. Maybe we need another thread to talk about favourite non-joining NPCs? -
KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
SteveThaiBinh replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I know, it's getting beyond ridiculous now. If the main quest for a lightsider in Kotor 3 is to 'rebuild the Jedi Council', it will be hard to get motivated to care. I would like to see a protagonist who starts as DS, even if he has the choice to turn to the light side later. Probably better not to have Revan or the Exile as PC, though for narrative reasons mostly. -
Safer that way... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Tell that to the judge!

The part where it says "Scene 40" is pretty scary too. Whisperblade, don't rehearse this scene unless there are plenty of witnesses present.

To take something out of context is more than just to lift it from the sentences surrounding it, it is to alter the meaning in doing so. The article links to the original Pentagon report, and though I only read the executive summary, I don't think the quotes are truly taken out of context. If this is an op-ed piece, what is the argument the writer is trying to make? I don't get the feeling he's either for or against the policies suggested in the report, merely that he finds much of it fascinating or surprising.

I don't think I have any questions, other than 'When is the game going to be released?'. Looks very good, and hopefully it won't kill my video card like the last one. Are those people? Kinda hard to see the people. Maybe it's easier when they're moving?

They're horrible. In situations of extreme social pressure, the flavour can be masked by dip. I'm sure Hungary will be seeing them soon - the relentless march of global capitalism and all.

Jolee knew. Bastila knew, but she wasn't there, of course. Not the others, I think. -
No true Dark Lord would ever ask for votes. He would kill his rivals, then kill the electorate, then kill everyone else. What's your policy on affordable social housing?

I liked Carth, too. He wasn't all that whiny, plus he did repeatedly try to avoid talking about his problems - it was always the PC that pushed the issue. And he's certainly more whined against than whining. His was by far the most believable reaction in that scene. That is not news that you just shrug off. -
That's no fun. I hear Oblivion has some sort of instant travel system. I hope the game never obliges you to use it: travelling everywhere on foot adds to the suspense, makes the game last longer, and leads to discovering more surprises. Actually, I'm surprised no-one's nominated Oblivion as the worst game ever. I mean, it hasn't been released yet, but that's no obstacle to true haters.

So? What in the world? Show me where he says this. It doesn't look like the writer is pursuing his own agenda or has jaundiced opinions. Most of the article merely reports the key content of the source document, with largely non-hostile comment.

the destruction of Telos
SteveThaiBinh replied to Knights&Darths's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
In the scene on the Ebon Hawk after the shock surprise of learning , Canderous makes it clear that Malak, not Revan, ordered the attack on Telos. That line always bugs me - as if it's contradicting something said elsewhere, but I can never remember what. -
I enjoyed getting lost in Morrowind. Some places were hard to find, and some paths were hard to follow - I haven't played that many games that are big enough, or designed with enough care, that you can really get lost in them.
-
I see no significant bias and nothing that suggests a 'jaundiced opinion' on the part of the writer. Which of the quotes are out of context?
-
But doesn't your dislike of Morrowind (and, if I'm honest, my dislike of Sacred  ) owe less to the quality of the game itself and more to the fact that it doesn't contain the things you look for in an RPG? The true 'worst RPG ever' would probably have a pretty big consensus behind it.
-
Not before, I think. It's been on BBC radio and in the newspapers in the last couple of days, and probably would have got more coverage had it not been for the Polish trade hall disaster.
-
Hooray! Sounds like a victory for moderation and common sense. I look forward to seeing how it's reported by the various news organisations.

I couldn't get into that at all. Maybe I should have had it on in the background as well.

Eh? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He talked about this - his spirit could be freed from the sword if it was transferred into a golem. There is a place in Chapter 2 where you can create a golem, so it seemed like this was meant to happen, but no dialogue options appeared. -
I'm eating a bag of Wotsits, and now the keyboard's all orange.

The sword (Demon Sword? Black Sword?) from Ultima VII/Serpent Isle was good fun, too. I particularly liked the way you freed the demon's essence then used the sword to kill all your friends. Enserric seemed destined to be transferred into a golem, but I never found out how to make that work. -
It's New Year (Tet) in Viet Nam, too, and a few other places. Chuc Mung Nam Moi! I remember going around visiting everyone I knew in my town. So many houses, so many different kinds of alcohol. :D

Kreia (Kotor2) - really a nasty piece of work. Virgil (Arcanum) - it's great to see him struggling with his religion and the revelations that come during the game. Juhani (Kotor) - love the voice. Deekin (NWN) - I think his funniest moment was doing the theme from Fame. Dupre (Ultima) - great fun for many games, and then the stunner on Serpent Isle. :'( Annah (Torment) - nicely prickly, though with my grandmother's accent. If we were including non-party NPCs, I would list pretty much the entire cast of the Quest for Glory games, with a special mention for the Spielburg Antwerp.
