The last few pages has been fascinating. Nothing close to a solution(s) has even been attempted even the warning flags are there: rising national debt, failing demographics, centralization power and surveillance, lowered social trust, mass immigration, failing currencies, rise of right-wing parties and thought. Unless someone invents cheap and secure space travelling at lighting speed or fusion solves the energy problem, we will be heading towards an age of caesarism with preluding civil war, which will be quite bloody. Please don't prove Oswald Spengler right guys, i want a nice future for our children were they do not need to worry about paying the monetary debts of their forefathers, where they can walk without fear of getting raped or shot to death, where they can trust their neighbours and fellow man, where they do not have the need to lock their doors, where they can build their own families in peace.

Seriously...wars between who? Wars between the disheartened and disillusioned Syrian refugees and the West...wow that's a real threat. The West has been the most dominant ideology\government for 500 years because it follows certain rules and systems of governance that have been proved the BEST ways to run a country and ensure that the West has the happiest citizens in the world. The relevance of the " happiest citizens in the world " cannot be ignored because this is a real metric that should be used to determine if a particular government is really successful. Its not about GDP, military might or a respected government. These are all factors but end of the day what we should simply ask when we ponder the question " what makes a good government\ideology " is simply " are the citizens happy " If the citizens are happy then there is no reason that system of government will end ...its as simple as that And if you think somehow terrorist attacks are going to undermine the West then that's an egregious misunderstanding. Attacks like Paris shootings unite countries and unions like the EU. They make governments more resolute and steadfast in dealing with the particular issue. Terrorism and bomb blasts have never historically caused any government to say " oh well, time to change our core and fundamental beliefs because of some extremist group " Hollande and France have reaffirmed military alliances with Russia and even Germany is now more committed to a military solution, we also have the UK voting again on airstrikes in Syria So lets be clear on this point " ISIS or any extremist attacks on the West are just going to unite the West " ..not weaken it So I'm sorry I don't understand or support this notion that the West is going to be defeated or face some of sort of structural social and political change due to Islamic extremism The facts don't support the reality my Finnish friend You didn't answer any of my questions and answered one made up by yourself. Well if you can't clarify what you mean then I can't give you that rosy picture of the future, but things are fine.....the West is fine. Don't worry so much Don't play dumb. How will they be fine? How will society be better? How will the trust in the institutions and the leaders be better? How will crime be less? How will terrorism erode away? How will economic development be better? How will social cohesion better? How will social mobility be improved? This wave of refugees are anything but helping the situation, that's for sure. I have only heard good evidence for different degrees for doom & gloom. So lets reverse the tide somehow, spread your solutions with positivism or otherwise there will be wars. Lets hear it, Bruce.

I wonder how the future will transpire for Europe, especially in countries like Sweden, UK, Germany, The Netherlands, France and Italy. I am sceptic and only see civil wars at worst or a slow collapse like the Western Roman Empire at best. I would like some cheering up here, what to the positivists see? Help me out.

Means pretty much literally nothing though, it's in english which russian pilots are not required to learn and does not identify which craft it's directed at in any way. There are examples of other warning that have been given in similar circumstances, eg when the Vincennes shot down IranAir655 it identified airspeed, aircraft type and tried various frequencies. OK, so they misidentified speed, aircraft type, and used frequencies that an airbus mostly couldn't monitor, but at least they tried. The Turkish warning which was delivered over a similar time span apparently did none of these things by Turkey's own admission, and there appears to have been no attempt to directly contact or identify the Su24 in any way. It certainly doesn't detract from the distinct impression that it was a deliberated act where a shoot down with pretext was the desired outcome rather than a last resort. You got to be kidding me. While not excusing their actions by any means, it's interesting how people saying something like that forgetting the fact these pilots were dropping bombs on them in the first place. And i've heard reports that they're not even particularly choosy on who they drop them, militants or civilians. In any case, it's a bit hypocritical to expect these people to act differently. "We're dropping bombs on you, but shooting a pilot is just too much!" Really? If you do not understand the basic concept shooting someone unarmed or unable to fight, then i do not know what to tell you except that may God have mercy on your soul.

For men born up until the 80's in Finland, a man hitting a woman usually got a beating himself. It was veeery frowned upon. A rape was something that only borderline mentally ill people did. This kind of surprise rape that we have seen the last 20 years is a new phenomenon in finnish society.
