Melusina Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 Is Bearn Eder's son ? I feel like story doesn't give us a definite answer. https://store.steampowered.com/curator/33102093/ - Picky Gamer Girl!
SunDD Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 Yes he is. Completing Eder's companion quest and saving Bearn definitely has dialogue that Eder is Bearn's father.
Hazmy Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 After completing his quest and the game - I am not so sure about that really. Either I missed an important line, but I don't think he is his father.
Juodas Varnas Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 Yes he is. Completing Eder's companion quest and saving Bearn definitely has dialogue that Eder is Bearn's father. Is he? I remember in the dialogue with Bearn, him mentioning that he KNEW his father, which sort of makes Edér out of the question, since he only learned of his existence from the Priestess in Gaun's Temple
SunDD Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 (edited) When you take Bearn back to Hasongo (provided that you manage to save him), Bearn and Eder have an exchange and Bearn says something (that I interpreted as being) along the lines of "I know that you gave me life, but..." It was like Bearn sort of acknowledging that Eder is his biological father, but doesn't feel any connection with him.I'm sorry but I can't remember the exact words, and no longer have a save before completing that quest. Perhaps someone else can chime in. Edited May 15, 2018 by SunDD
Zeitzbach Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 (edited) I don't think he is. The wife has 2 kids. The 1st is a hollowborn we don't get to see. The next one is Bearn. Eder wasn't even around. Edited May 15, 2018 by Zeitzbach

I think it's him thanking for SAVING his life, by preventing him from drinking the kool-aid.

No, because he specifically chastises Eder (and possibly the Watcher) for saving him and complains that he now has no purpose and nothing here to live for. My quest journal entry: Bearn consumed poison in front of us, but we were fortunately able to resuscitate him. He's survived the ordeal, though he doesn't appear to be convinced it was for the best. At least for me, he was absolutely not thankful for being saved. However, I am still willing to consider that I am mistaken or misinterpreted what Bearn said. Edited May 15, 2018 by SunDD

SunDD Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 (edited) I wish that I could rewatch/reread the dialogue to quote that lead me to believe that he is in fact his son. This way we could discuss exactly what I interpreted. Edited May 15, 2018 by SunDD
Juodas Varnas Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 And until you do, we'll just assume you're bad at reading comprehension
SunDD Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 (edited) And until you do, we'll just assume you're bad at reading comprehension That remains to be seen... Edit: Guess I am. Edited May 15, 2018 by SunDD
Tamyn Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 (edited) I got the sense he wasn't the father based on what Bearn said; Bearn knew his father and his father died. Eder seemed kind of disappointed. Edited May 15, 2018 by Tamyn
Galagraphia Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 Bearn is not his son. 1) he says he knew his father 2) he speaks about Edér saving his life, not fathering him 3) later Edér has a banter with Xoti where he says he thought the kid might have been his, but now he knows he’s not. So it's very clear it's not his kid. Ngati weeps for no romance with Edér in Deadfire!
