If This Is Indeed Kotor 2

Here is a well thought out wish list (for a gerbil):

1. The romances were to vague, to the point of pointlessness. Make them better.

2. The inventory system was horrible in the first game, which has already been

addressed by my colleagues.

3. Better ATI video support would be nice.

4. More real life objects in the game, more for the conversation (ie...toilets,

showers, and toothbrushes)

5. More gerbils!

I would prefer to see an elimination of romances altogether, or at least ones as subtle as those of Planescape: Torment. It's difficult to imagine focusing on a serious romance while you're trying to save the universe.

I was just saying no too every point the original poster made, besides mabye point number 3.

You don't want a better inventory, a more world with more things in it (sw things, not real world things), and gerbils?

 

I can take or leave the romance. I think it was ok in KOTOR, but if it can't be better than that, leave it out in kotor2.

They were too romantic. There should have been more beer, watching sports and ignoring each other besides make-up sex.

 

I don't see how real-life objects like a toilet would make for better in-game conversation. These are basically in every action game anyway.

 

Inventory. meh. Like the previous point, not too hard to fiddle about with some boxes or something.

 

Gerbils suck. There should be giant vampire bats instead.

First: Please don't let this be KotOR2. I'd so very much like a new game from these very talented guys. A fresh scenario, no Star Wars or Fantasy. But if it has to be I'd go for the following improvements:

 

1) Make your decisions influence the game world itself more, not just dialogues and the very ending

 

2) Jedis were far too powerful in KotOR. With two jedis you simply went through hordes of enemies without difficulty.

 

3) More multiple solutions. The rancor was one of the few encounters you could solve in more than the two evil-notevil ways.

 

4) Less conservative talents. Go for some wild stuff, no two-bladed lightsabers boring stuff. Go for some somewhat crazy perks like robot killer ("wents berserk on a robots sight") or sand crawler ("moves faster on sand planets").

 

5) Yes, more real life would also be nice. In the first KotOR all people felt like they were just there for the player.

I disagree with your # 5, Bobbin. Jedi's were not overpowered. Especially looking at the lore of the Star Wars universe. They were always more powerful than most non-jedi. And, I made add, at late game most of your enemies were jedi of equal strength and infinite number.

Well, I never really had a problem fighting any of the Jedi, even the later Jedis. This was also mentioned in some reviews, throw in two or three Jedis and you are done. Especially if you added some cryoban grenades and had the right force powers. Darth Malak wasn't that easy but before that I only had enemies which were annoying but never really dangerous. Jedis just ruled it all :)

But isn't your jedi supposed to rule all anyway? You were the Dark Lord of the Sith afterall, killed Mandalore, ended the war, etc. I guess I always factored that in when I looked at my character. And I had never had any other jedi in party really, so I guess I never experienced the over powered party. (I completed the game following the dark side.)

Well, your main character is just discovering his old strength - that is why he is able to beat Darth Malak at the end. He is a pretty strong character but two more jedis really brought the party out of balance. I assure you, go for a jedi party and you won't encounter any serious obstacles. That I would like to have changed - if they really do KotOR 2.

i hope that KOTOR 2 is longer and there are more charcter portraits to choose from.

Well the first KOTOR was powered by Bioware and they are notorious for their lack of character customization. Just look at NWN, in the D&D universe you could have a lot more diveristy (and much better looking heads to choose from!) than they were willing to give us. The same goes for KOTOR and why were we forced to be human? There were alien Sith at the academy.

Tons of stuff:

More options in combat (less passive combat, more tactical combat, whatever)

More non-linear

REMOVE THE DAMN MINIGAMES!!!

More role-playing opportunities

More action/reaction

Less annoying NPC interactions

More head models

More interactive environments (at least add stuff like jumping, swimming, etc.)

Balance out melee/ranged

Less clunky inventory system... actually, completely reworked interface

Okay, this will never get in, but if the game is actually turn-based I'd be thrilled

Foremost among the additions and changes I'd like to see are more plot branches and more decisions that matter. In Kotor there were lots of little side quests and you could choose the order you wanted to do things in, but you always ended up in the same place, where the ending of the game was decided upon by one conversation. It just seemed like too much of a copout, ignoring the consequences of actions up to that point.

 

Another quibble of mine is that there were a lot of plot hooks where something was either taken out or never implemented, such as a peaceful solution on the last planet, changing the Leviathan's course, upgrading the swoop racer, and others I'm sure to have forgotten.

 

Continuing with the lack of consequence theme, I was very disappointed with both of the endings. They left me feeling empty, with many things unresolved. Rather than some flashy CGI movie, I'd much prefer a simple Fallout style slideshow or even just text as Hordes of the Underdark.

On the issue of minigames, I do not think they need to be done away with, just replaced with contemporary games like poker or blackjack. You could have like casinos and such like you do in galaxies where the minigames are actually fun. Though the stupid fighter minigame did piss me off and it has no place in an rpg.
