  1. Silver Style did Soldiers of Anarchy which is one of the finest tactical combat games I ever played. They DO have problems in the story and art department which surely needed to improve for a Fallout 3. For that reason alone I still would prefer FO3 at this place here (no, not the forums ), MCA would take out his magic pen and write the last chapter of the Fallout Bible - Fallout 3...
  2. System An extended version of the good old SPECIAL system would be a lot better than the corset system aka D&D. Combat Everyone will agree that TOEE had great combat, but going for TB combat seems to be wishful thinking nowadays. But maybe, just maybe, you will think about it after the KotOR 2 RT overdose. Scenario Everything but Fantasy. Had enough of it for quite a while. There are so many tales to tell in a Sci-Fi scenario, just think of Gateway, Neuromancer or Asimov's robot stories.
  3. Please, no more Fantasy - I want hardcore scifi. And if you absolutely have to, make it post-apocalyptic
  4. Yes, Thief 3 was a good example for a game finally come true. Then we have Heroes of Might & Magic 5 and Jagged Alliance 3 which are currently in development. Atari said that they would really like to do a Baldur's Gate 3 so I think not all is lost. The biggest obstacle is Herve Caen for now. If it wasn't for him Fallout's future would look much brighter.
  5. Seeing MCA as the lead of a potential FO3 again would be, well, he wrote the Fallout bible so it's like god would return to his creation
  6. This is from Damon Vergilio: "Anything is on the chopping block to save the company. Herve [Herve Caen, Interplay's CEO] said he expects to announce something within the next couple days that will be enough of a boost to bring us back in. When it gets this dire, everything is up for grabs." They are desperate, use their weakness (every dark jedi would do ) and get the Fallout franchise now. You know you want it
  7. February 2005 sounds good. Only 9 months, then they can with something more cool than Kotor 2. An original title, BG3 (from Atari) or FO3 (bought from the then defunct Interplay). There are so many talented people there who will do a GREAT Kotor 2 but I expect way more from them...
  8. First I agree with you on TB. But Carsten had been bashed for saying that TB doesn't sell that well (he didn't say it doesn't sell at all which it does) and that pausing battles is a good compromise. For that people went at him. Do you really, really thought that was a fair discussion on DAC? Maybe you should read the thread regarding the user interface on Silver Style forums which was more civilized. Here Carsten answered stuff like this: "You're right. Even if only some and not all characters show that effect. Our graphicians already know the issue and will solve it."
  9. Please do also read on Silver Styles forums. Carsten is really open to discussions, I found the guys at DaC just bashing on him for some reason I didn't really grasp. Tell them that TB doesn't sell like ice at the beach these days and they go mad.
  10. You are cruel. Look what you did: Now they cry.
  11. Landscapes is something which definitely needed improvements. The locations in KotOR all felt mostly flat, all being on one level. I would wish for more variety, I imagine a narrow trail up a snowy mountain. Or a next to a river, one of your tasks is to figure out how to get down the waterfall. I mean - if you do 3D then use it
  12. Well, on Gamespot (or was it spy?) Feargus already said that he would love to do Fallout 3 but lacks the money for aquiring the license and getting it done on his own. However, IPLY giving it to them to finish it would be the best solution but this probably won't happen.
  13. You can even get SP down with a lot of hard facts. He is the boss enemy of discussions
  14. We were walking through the valley and we are doing it again, just waiting when our time comes. As you said it, there are ALWAYS developers with (insane) visions. That is the good thing: A lot of developers simply ARE hardcore gamers. They might do some games to bring in the money but I think the guys at Obsidian would always prefer a brand-new PCRPG to a FPS. Gives me a little bit of hope.
  15. Sorry, I just had to laugh reading this. Does he pay well?
  16. Yeh it had to do with plot of Jefferson. The dog dies at the beginning of the game or something and you were coincidentally there and have to figure out what was going on. Don't get me started on this. "Press Announcement: Obsidian Entertainment gained the rights to develop Baldur's Gate 3 and Fallout 3." Daydreaming again...
  17. I'm with Teatime on this. All the world needs is food for everyone, a warm place to stay and peace. But to bring humanity forward we NEED creativity and games are just one result of it. Of course we don't need a particular game from Obsidian - but I want it
  18. Succesful for me Damn, there is Chris Avellone on this team, the author of the Fallout Bibles, I just can't wait to see his contributions to this game.
  19. Another one: - IP hates the bad media they get from cancelling Fallout 3 - IP just gives away the Fallout 3 for free to whoever is interested - OE gets everything that was done for it - OE finishes it for 2005 Dreams are my reality...
  20. @Kasoroth: I think you are mostly right. Great RPGs do not necessarily need to have the most tactical advanced combat system. However, I think Fallouts combat system was still better than KotORs cause it just gave you the FEEL of acting tactically. And this is what I also did until a certain level where enemies became more an annoyance than a challenge. For a long time you had to cope with weak weapons so you had to fight carefully. Doing a head shot with your not so skilled character on his last hp was always a risk and I found it very exciting, something KotOR never really delivered. KotORs combat was mostly fun, but only seldom exciting. And while combat is fun KotOR 2 should also add additional ways to solve quests in different ways, like they did with the Rancor in part 1. Then you could sometimes overload terminals but basically this was also about killing the enemies. As much as I enjoyed KotOR i think RPG-wise it was a step backwards. There have been great RPGs before which were more successful in putting the R in RPG.
  21. Not exactly. Just think of KotOR 1. There were some new locations and some new race. But it was Star Wars. You can't just create a dozen new races and another dozen new planets. You HAVE to stay in the Star Wars universe. The very core of the game must be centered around Star Wars, the races, the planets we know. Of course you need to bring in something new. This is how it is open-ended. Star Wars plays in a universe and as such it actually is open-ended. You can create new races and planets as you like. But you have to bring in a big amount of well-known stuff for the game to stay stuff. So we are both right. It is open-ended in the ideas for new life-forms and planets you can have but it is not in the ratio of new stuff to known stuff. This will always limit the visions of the developers, they need to stay in that universe. So Obsidian, cancel your Star Wars contract and give us a completely new vision B)
  22. I agree with you. KotOR was probably the best Star Wars game since X-Wing: Alliance. However, the Star Wars universe is not exactly open-ended. It consists of some races and some locations which you just HAVE to visit doing another KotOR. I also believe that Obsidian would make KotOR 2 different but they can't stray away too much from the path. One thing is sure: A new scenario would be LESS repetitive than another RPG in a Star Wars scenario. And that is the pure and simple reason why I wouldn't prefer a KotOR 2 although it could be worse than that
  23. Well, your main character is just discovering his old strength - that is why he is able to beat Darth Malak at the end. He is a pretty strong character but two more jedis really brought the party out of balance. I assure you, go for a jedi party and you won't encounter any serious obstacles. That I would like to have changed - if they really do KotOR 2.
  24. Was my #2 Well, I never really had a problem fighting any of the Jedi, even the later Jedis. This was also mentioned in some reviews, throw in two or three Jedis and you are done. Especially if you added some cryoban grenades and had the right force powers. Darth Malak wasn't that easy but before that I only had enemies which were annoying but never really dangerous. Jedis just ruled it all
  25. KotOR was fun and it was more of a PC RPG than a console RPG. But then again I don't need to visit this world a second time. Come on Obsidian, do something new!
