Redeemer is great - why don't you just enchant another morning star with spirit-slaying or use any other two handed weapon that comes early(er)?

Well... you'd be right... but enchanting a weapon is kind of... second choice. Having the unique is something much more rewarding, even aesthetically. That said, you have a point.

Slack83er go with Ydwen's and an arquebus and you'll be fine. I just noticed Daybreak had Destroy Spirit and thought it'd be good.

Personally I'd go with whichever Paladin order has dispositions you're happy picking. Having a unique Paladin talent is nice, but it's not worth being forced to pick dialogue options you don't like. Also the core Paladin abilities are good enough that you're hardly hurting yourself if you don't choose your order optimally.

Well, if you like the look of Goldpact then there's nothing wrong with them that I can see. Go forth and smite undead rationally and stoically :D

There isn't, as far as I know, that much lore about them, so you're free to interpret it however you want. I'd say that if someone pays a Goldpact to do something, they do it, but that doesn't stop them from doing things if they're not paid (unless of course doing so would cause them to break another contract). So I don't see anything wrong with a Goldpact that does "pro bono" work for worthy causes.

My last solo paladin was Goldpact, it is in itself a very strong order, because you are allowed to play cruel (Heritage Hill + Blood pool any1?) but you are not forced to play evil, you are basically allowed to do whatever the eff you want.

I didn't use it, since I soloed I was quite packed with abilities, but I think in a party it can be quite useful.

I think 50% dot should be noticeable... 

Getting the most out of it it's also important. That's why i was suggested to open with a rifle shot. Highest damage..

Hey, tonight's my last dutyshift, so tomorrow I'm gonna try and play this pala-priest-undead-spirit-hunter.

Was wondering a thing: Before I can reach the optimum setup with weapons and all.. shall I keep shield/weapon (for example the sword in Caed Nua is anti-spirit..) along with larder door for example to maximize FoD... or shall I keep the same combination and take a plain simple rifle and greatsword? The only good greatsword comes from raedric...early on at least..

I wouldn't use Whispers of Yenwood outside of actual fights against spirits. To be honest you can quite happily go with a generic weapon until you either kill Raedric (he has Justice) or reach Defiance Bay (where it should be easy to pick up a fine greatsword).

 

Once you hit Defiance Bay, do the Cinders of Faith quest when you're strong enough (I think I did it around level 6 on PotD with a full party) to get Tidefall. Tidefall is quite good enough to use till you finish the game, it's one of the best weapons in the game, and you can use that till you get Ydwen's.

 

For ranged attacks: use whatever until you reach Kana, use Kana's arquebus until you get something better. Don't forget arbalests are also Weapon Focus: Soldier so if you find a fine arbalest before you find a fine arquebus then do use that.

I also thought of using arbalest...for dwarf flavor, you know...

I can't remember exactly, but you're likely to find a scroll of + mechanics and together with an appropriate resting bonus you should be able to get +4/+5ish. Also, if you're not totally against the idea, you can always create a mercenary Rogue with maxed out mechanics to get it super early.

Whatever weapon you're using I wouldn't touch Larder Door. Bashing sounds cool, I agree, but having an ineffective character due to -8 accuracy (for everything!) and very slow attacks with your weapon (that, unlike bashing, actually does decent damage) can really, really ruin a lot of cool factor.

 

Gloves of manipulation + mechanics scroll = +5 mechanics and you can have both (with some attention to random loot tables) before you get to Tidefall.
