I will play the game together with my wife and we are looking for more RP builds. We went through different options and are preliminary choice went for:

Main PC:

 - Wild Orlan

 - Rouge

 - Living Lands

 - Scientist (or Merchant, but the first one is preferred for RP reason)

 - Stats:

Might - 11

Con - 9

Dex - 15

Per - 19

Int - 18

Res - 6

Per and Int are for RP reasons, I'm still wandering if I could drop Per to 18 and boost Might/Dex for damage or Con for survivability. I intend to fight with a ranged weapon. For skills I intend to pursue Lore and Mechanics.

At the first possible moment, we will create additional character, so we are kind of together in the game:

 - Death Godlike, Elf (does the subrace matter at all here?)

 - Barbarian

 - Aedyr

 - Slave

 - Might and Dex maxed, high Con and Res

Is Res checked at all for other than PC party members for dialogue options?

We are still waiting for our custom portraits, so I thought I might check if we are not making something totally wrong with the character choice. ;)

As far as I read the forums, it seems the game is fairly balanced and it's hard to go wrong here (especially on Normal difficulty), but as we don't have that much time for games, we probably have only one shot to make this right ;).

Only the stats of the main character are used in conversations, though some of the NPC Companions you find in the world do alter the flow of conversations situationally.

Maybe reduce Perception to 16 (I've noticed that I managed to pass most if not all checks at 16 Per) and toss a few more points into Might if you're concerned about damage? Your stats seem fine otherwise, don't worry too much about Con.

... although I'm not a fan of Int if it's purely for RP considering that you don't have much Int checks that I can recall, but you do have quite a few Resolve checks. So if you'd have to choose between Int or Resolve, I'd take Resolve for RP.

I'm aware that Resolve is important for additional dialogue options, however it doesn't go well RP wise with Rogue (correct me if I'm wrong), especially a scientist/alchemist ;). It didn't look like charisma to me, but if I was to dump something in favor of Resolve, what would it be? I don't want to dump Mig/Dex more, while dumping Per/Int doesn't make sense to me for RP reasons...

RP-wise, I don't think resolve has anything to do with class at all, especially in Pillars where rogues aren't by default shady thieves like in some settings, but simply fighters light on their feet and cleverly exploiting debilitated opponents instead of charging head on.

Resolve is your determination, drive, intensity, leadership qualities etc. I don't see why a rogue couldn't have these qualities, but of course it's up to your character vision. I pumped resolve on my cipher for no other reason but to reflect his aristocratic upbringing (hence leadership) and passionate nature.

Fair enough, I wasn't sure if you were looking for feedback as to how to get more dialogue, or checking if the build was any good as you had envisioned it, or something else.

I don't think resolve goes inherently well nor badly with the rogue class. I'd say it's similar to charisma mostly in the way of force of personality, rather than... let's call it "social skills".

I think you could drop INT and PER a bit without losing much, but if you're not going to get at least 15 RES or so out of it, you may as well leave it as it is. You don't usually get extra dialogue choices with average scores anyway.
