I havent played on PotD yet but I would consider Might and Con as a must as I do now.

Soloed Maerwald first try lvl 5, I went in, pew pew pew and he ded. Idk why you guys say its a problem.

Last hotfix and XP:

 

to my surprise, it seems with the last hotfix we got a XP buff for PotD difficulty.

 

I gave in my monk run the temple quest, and i got:

 

405 quest XP -->

810 group XP, which means it buffed quest XP to 100%.

 

Before 1.03 patch and after patch, it was 405 QXP --> 607 Group XP ---> 50% buff.

 

finally a good news.

 

no, this is in patch notes. it's 10% more xp per missing party member, instead of 5%. it's not based on difficulty.

Hello. I still stuck on first levels. Try different builds for solo run (Mostly fighters).

Most successful build so far - fighter before patch with summon item already bought for 600gp )))

Stats: Might 16  Cons 14 Dex 14 Per 16 Int 3 Res 15. Race - Human. And yes, my fighter is dumb. )

 

Anyway I think i need few tips how to move on - before stronghold. 

From my experience:

You can level up by quest in Gilded Vale a bit. Like Against a Grain + Late for Dinner. + You can finish blacksmith quest very easy if you lure trolls to bandits and help them all to kill each other. Temple is still pretty hard for me (

cuz we are on potd mode. you aren't.

 

and cuz when i first tried him with 6 characters, he had enough dps to wipe the whole party.

 

and cuz for priest lvl 4, i can't pew pew pew very well lol.

 

i didn't know running away would make all his spells miss like Mipsy explains and that he would therefore run out of spells. that's funny. he still seems scary if it was ironman, at least for some classes, but that seems like it'll work fine with saving/reloading if needed.

question for you, how do you spent your stat points for PotD, when you create a character.

 

priest of skaen, coastal aumaua, merchant (stats: 20 17 19 3 3 16). talented move speed at 2 and sword/shield at 4.

 

this might be bad, i haven't decided yet. maybe priest needs int for higher level so you can use a bunch of buff spells and be a strong fighter. at lower level for priest i think this is good. priest is weak but level 3 is easy to get if you use Calisca to get through prolog. then you have 2 dps spells, divine mark and barbs of condemnation. i don't think it's good compared to other classes, but they can kill things. and you have withdraw which is good in some situations, e.g. it used it to get through the first indoors room in caed nua – pull too many enemies, kill some in chokepoint with figurine and dps spells, use withdraw to get out of combat and go rest. without withdraw priest would have been stuck there.

 

note i used the defenses rounding bug. if your deflection stats add to -1, you get -0 instead. (or if -2, you get -1, etc. +1 bonus for being negative). it also works with will, fort, reflex if you set up your stats right.

 

in general i feel the priest, early on, lives long enough in fights but doesn't do damage well enough. it has really bad accuracy.

 

EDIT: oh lol. testing more. seal size is affected by int. for some reason i thought it wasn't like traps. well i know why i thought it wasn't: it just shows one aoe circle, not 2 like regular spells (for my 18int priest in a different non-solo run) and cuz the seals have a fixed graphic size no matter what your int is.

I hate random loot generator, after ironman monk died....restart...and didn't got in Inn and Temple the +frost damage and life leech cloak...of course, checked at phantom in temple, 60 fort defence is not enough, perma stun lock from 1 of them. and without cloak phantm hits like truck against a monk without shild.

 

I know already, i have a problem in first room of stronghold...were you have 5 phantoms who say :) "let me stun you"

to the chanter video, gratz, it is unlucky the onyl playstyl you can do as chanter...

 

if you would play cipher at PotD, you would get 1 purifit to stone form trap, and than you nuke him during trap duration with all this crazy RAW damage speels down.

chanter is "boring" playstyl and little easyier, but other classes can it do better.

For Solo Priest, you start is a mix out of caster (with no aoe dmg) and tank start.

 

After prolog (in prolog, your warrior you get can outtank even in PotD everythink the games trows at you) you should be level 2 -> talent should be shild and weapon talent

You go directly first town, ignore everythink in first outddor map.

First town, collect all Quest, and solve the mill quest. Rest now, you should be exaustet from you prolog.

Do mainquest at tree, you should now hit level 3...

 

After level 3 questorder you want to do...

1.) blacksmith (to get the shild)...you need to kill 1 mob to stealth pick the quest item)

2.) cook quest

3.) Temple (with many, many rests...) --> getting life leech weapon, helm is without bugging out moving Ai out of reach

4.) Range trink quest for the sister

5.) bear cave

 

--> you should now hit level 4

It didn't played priest higher, yo can choose now between raedrics hold with heavy boss fight, or old watcher with heavy boss fight. what oyu choose depens on your stat points.

You can get the blacksmith supplies without anyone seeing you.  The "Scavenger" doesn't path up near the box for a few seconds and you can just stealth in and grab it.

i read loot is based on: chest location, character name, day in game.

 

for me, on day 2, name "c", i couldn't get the good cloak at the inn. i rested 3 times until day 3. then i got it. try advancing time with console or resting and see if you can get it on a different day. or maybe try using the name "c" too, "c" might always get it day 3 (not positive but it might work).

You cant even get out of starting camp without whinning wtf u talking about kid? Please stop posting on this thread your attitude is annoying.

It would be good that you post the stats so we know how legit that build is. Like pretty much basic.

ok, how do you the first room, when you didn't got cold damage life leech cloak in stronghold? As monk? outtanking in perma stun is useless...

The trick is to make scrolls, with 4 scrolls of fire and good positioning you can nuke down the phantoms, thats why the figurine is so important, because it allows you to position it so that the shadow is in front and with th figuring only the shadow can reach you, you cant get stunlocked= you can cast the four scrolls, this works as any class. I hate phantoms with such a passion i wish i didnt have to go through so many loops just to avoid the stunlock of death.

Ceranai are you hitting your own summon with your flame scrolls, or are you managing to avoid that? i would not have expected it to live through the first 3 flame scrolls + being attacked. am i mistaken or did you manage to position and aim really nice?

you only need lore two for fan of flames. And you need to position so you can cast them without being stun locked, i found the best way to do this is with an animat, it lets you build a corner, also you want to miss the shadow but hit the phantoms, getting hit by the shadow is actually a good hting because he only dazes you, the phantoms stunlock you as im sure youve experienced XD

nah i was off to the side of it, i pulled the shadow so that it came first then i took my time positioning, i was actually quite unlucky with the scrolls, two of them pretty much missed, an i had to 1v1 the last one down. I really wish they balanced phantoms, they are easily the hardest mob for ages, like im now blasting through mobs like paper XD

 

btw i got swift strikes, torments reach, peasant specialisation, two handed weapons, and when i hit 5 (after watcher) i tookstunning blow

Fan of Flames is al vl 1 spell... If you need that to progress you should reroll to a wizard directly lol

I needed a ranged aoe spell to kill the phantoms without getting stunlocked. Most fights i breeze my way through, but i really have nothing i can do vs a stunlock other than avoid it, the only way i can do that is with range, the room is too tight to kite like i would if they were one on one. Im gonna try looking for fortitude items so that i can avoid it in future, or when i get the aoe shockwave on wounds i might be able to out stun the stunner

The level 4 talents are great.  I've been grinding the beginning so many times trying to find better ways to do things that I didn't realize how good some of the choices are.  I'm taking 2 Lore and stocking points up otherwise as I can't advance this particular build's Stealth or Mechanics any more.  What do you guys think of the level 4 talent choices?  Does the +10 Fort have much effect on Phantom stunlocking?
