The game is crashing for me as well.  If I click the mouse on the the 1st logo screen it crashes  - - or if I don't click the mouse I make it to the Kickstarter logo and then it crashes and gives me this error message:

"The game crashed.  The crash report folder named 2015-03-26_202840 next to game executable.  It would be great if you'd send it to the developer of the game"

sick puppy: You're crash is happening when contacting Steam for achievement data. You likely just need to update Steam to the latest version.

I also get this bug I've tried running as administrator as well with the same result. I also have run a complete file check.

I am not running EVGA Precision X

Cant EDIT: I added spoiler tags as the log is rather long. Good luck, aricww. Hopefully your extensive log helps isolate whatever the issue is.

I don't use precision x no sorry. I do use Geforce experience, which I exited. I've just verified local game cache which told me 4 files could not be verified and needed to be reinstalled. After download I was able to get to character creation screen (first time past loading screen). I will update tomorrow if this works through to game running stable. :)

Thanks for quick interaction Devs!

Everyone else crashing after logos, do you have a program called running EVGA Precision X?

I don't.

Hello,

I just went through the logos again before it crashed. I am attaching the output log, the error log, and my computers specs. I am not using EVGA Precision X

Can anyone else that is crashing try verifying their local game cache and see if that fixes it? And if not, what language do you expect the game is running in (English, Spanish, etc.)?

I've tried it a couple times and neither time did any good.  I am running the game in English (I assume).

I did verify local game cache to no avail.

I expect the game is running in English.

I don't know what EVGA Precision X is - - or how to know if it's running if I do have it

nevermind - googled it - - I am not running it

I'm verifying again as I write this, but not only did I already verify before, I also downloaded the whole game again. Both to no avail, so I don't think the problem is a corrupt download.

I'm trying to run the game in english. At least I think so, can't look it up now.

Edit: All files successfully validated. The game still doesn't work, unfortunately.

Steam tells me my files are fine after verification, and I've already done a reinstall.

No change.

I verified - - 100%

running in english

still crashing

Just in case it helps in some small way, I have EVGA Precision v4.2.1 running and have no crashes, after logos or otherwise, so far.

Still gaming with my 9900k/2080ti/32 ram. One day I suppose a game may inspire me to finally upgrade. Maybe.

On the morning i'm going to find cheap merchant for some extra RAM, for now i have crush when traveling to Gilded Vale

I believe this has something to do with Unity/PoE not reading the memory correctly..

People have 4GB+ memory but it's giving a reading of 0 in most of the cases:

0 MB physical memory [1435 MB free].
0 MB paging file [0 MB free].
0 MB user address space [3562 MB free].

0 MB physical memory [0 MB free].
0 MB paging file [0 MB free].
0 MB user address space [3556 MB free].
Read from location 00000000 caused an access violation.

Apart from the output file I posted earlier, Ekital's post is what I'm seeing in error.log.

Unity Player [version: Unity 4.6.1p2_961a19933c56]

PillarsOfEternity.exe caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)

Same issue. Game crashes after the Kickstarter Screen.

FIX FOUND:

Run your command prompt as administrator (cmd)

Type command: attrib -r -s c:/Windows/Fonts

Go to the Fonts folder (C:/Windows/Fonts)

Delete font called UNCL

Have fun guys :D

EDIT: It has to do with corrupted fonts, if you still can't play after deleting UNCL please keep posting your error.log file and read the first few lines. It should say XXXXXX.TTF, which is a font file. Delete that font and continue until it works.

EDIT #2:

After you delete the font it's a good idea to restore the font folder to it's original state, simply type the command:

attrib +r +s c:/Windows/Fonts

To re-enable read-only.

Crashing every single time I try to get to Gilded Vale. Really hoping this isn't a 64bit issue - can't expect us to go get a 64bit OS just to play this game?
