Imo you shouldnt be able to steal stuff without consequences. Right now it doesnt seem to bother anyone if you steal it right from under their nose

    If I recall, it was the same in IE games?  I think you could take anything you found in a container anywhere.

     

    Not saying it has to be the same, but at least it's consistent with its predecessors.

    If you took something from a locked container with NPCs present in Baldur's Gate they would call the guards on you.

    Totally opposite effect is horrible also, as was In Elder's Scrolls: Oblivion, stole a mug from a lonely hut, in the middle of forest, and went to Imperial City with it, which made then the guards come after me..
