Gorth Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I didn't see any thread on the front page, so I just thought I would mention, in case people are kickstarter backers and like to protect their info... Kickstarter hacked No credit card info as such leached, but a lot of data that people normally chose not to share. Worth a read and time to change passwords. 3 “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. Amentep Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Changed mine too when I got the email. I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man
Hurlshort Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Thankfully they don't handle any of the financial aspects, so after changing my password I'm not too worried.
BruceVC Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I just changed my password too, thanks Gorth "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. samm Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Seems important for some people to tell them to change their passwords on other sites as well, if they used the same one on multiple sites. If it was a random password, it will not be very easy to crack by the hackers, because Kickstarter apparently used a salted hash and multiple passes, making brute force the only viable option (I can think of) if dictionary attacks fail. Malcador Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Or try to have different passwords for each site. Why has elegance found so little following? Elegance has the disadvantage that hard work is needed to achieve it and a good education to appreciate it. - Edsger Wybe Dijkstra
