:lol: If that picture posted above was a bit bigger I'd use it as my desktop wallpaper. Heck with it, I might anyway.

Happy 10th!

Happy 10th

My order would be;

Alpha Protocol > KOTOR 2 > > > > > FO:NV > Dungeon Siege 3

NWN2 is still unplayed (yeah, yeah, I know)

2 good, 2 bad is still a pretty good score for a game-dev.

My best memory?

The interview of course with (ex-)Obsidian guys, including Chris Avellone. That... was awesome :)

I agree that that is such a stupid idiotic pathetic garbage hateful retarded scumbag evil satanic nazi like term ever created. At least top 5.

A long, long time ago, but I can still remember,
How the Trolling used to make me smile.
And I knew if I had my chance, I could egg on a few Trolls to "dance",
And maybe we'd be happy for a while.
But then Krackhead left and so did Klown;
Volo and Turnip were banned, Mystake got run out o' town.
Bad news on the Front Page,
BIOweenia said goodbye in a heated rage.
I can't remember if I cried
When I heard that TORN was recently fried,
But sadness touched me deep inside,
The day...Black Isle died.

For tarna, Visc, an' the rest o' the ol' Islanders that fell along the way

I was so impressed with AP. I know it had some flaws. But they were nothing compared to all the things they did right with that game! The branching storyline was phenomenal! And I love the way conversations were handled. I love that it's a game you can play half a dozen times and still be discovering new elements every time!

I have so much respect for Obsidian and I feel like they've kind of gotten shafted on a lot of previous ventures. Here's hoping the next ten years treat them well! Happy (belated) birthday, Obsidian!

10 years eh? Congrats to Obsidian!

My Obsidian moments then (some minor plot spoilers of older Obsidian games follow)

KOTOR2
I absolutely loved this game!  This game was full of great ideas and story, but for me the outstanding memory would probably be Kreia (spelling?).  I had previously felt that the binary morality system of KOTOR was a bit simplistic and here was someone in the game pointing out the absurdity of the extreme views of both the jedi and the sith.   Perhaps she didn't entirely have my interests at heart then?
(Full disclosure, I am only now getting around to playing the restoration mod)

Neverwinter Nights 2
My initial experience with this was disappointing as it ran like a dog on my machine at the time.  And I'm not talking about one of those greyhounds you see at running tracks here.  It was an absolute pig (to belabour the animal metaphor some more).  However, several years later I had a new machine and gave it another go.  I saw that by this time the game was extensively patched too.  I loved it this time around.  The moment it really 'took' for me was when we landed at the main city and Khelgar and Neeshka starting arguing - I realised then that these companions and me were going to get on just fine!
(More disclosure, I have MotB but have not got around to playing it!)

Alpha Protocol
The archetypal flawed gem, this one.  I have to say I liked this one too though.  The supporting cast was one of the best I've seen in any game!  My main memory here though is that I somehow didn't manage to rescue Mina from the base at the end, so the final cut scene seemed a little downbeat.  Mea culpa though.

Fallout: New Vegas
According to Steam I have put about 100 hours into this!  I can't distill this down to a single memory!

Dungeon Siege 3
Not a typical Obsidian game, this one.  The gameplay and story were a bit bland by Obsidian's standards (imo) but at the same time it was completely bug free in my experience.  I'm not as fond of the dungeon crawler type of game as I am of the more strategic rpgs, but I still played it through to completion.  I had the wizard / mage character as my sidekick for much of it and I did like some of his lines.

Anyways, all the best in the future to you Obsidian!
