Lexx Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 (edited) I won't have time to do wiki work, but: Man, the comment function in the Curse wiki news bits is really annoying to use. As big as a shait Wikia has become, at least the comments were working good. Feels to me like Falloutwiki isn't really growing, due do the fact that people don't talk in the comments section anymore. C2B Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 To be serious though, there is some stuff I would like to update on the Wasteland wiki for a while (Mainly the developer pages). I actually have time next week/this weekend for it.
Ausir Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 (edited) Well, the news and comments is really just a secondary feature of wikis. The content is what matters. Of course, The Vault at its new home is not going to win with Nukapedia that easily in terms of page views due to the fact that the Wikia pages are much more googlable, but just look at our and Wikia's wikis for Wasteland 2 - ours is definitely more alive. And the Wikia Wasteland wiki is quite ugly too. Edited September 19, 2012 by Ausir Pillars of Eternity Wiki * The Vault - Fallout Wiki * Wasteland 2 Wiki
Lexx Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Yeah, but I always thought that was a neat additional feature. "only when you no-life you can exist forever, because what does not live cannot die."
Tigranes Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 This should receive more attention. Ausir, let me know when you get it up and I'll link it on the sticky, or give it a separate sticky. Let's Play: Icewind Dale Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Icewind Dale II Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Divinity II (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG1 (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG2 (In Progress)
Ausir Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 Yeah, I'll let you know when the wiki is up. We're in the process of setting up some new back-end stuff for our wikis, so it might take a day or two. Pillars of Eternity Wiki * The Vault - Fallout Wiki * Wasteland 2 Wiki

Luckmann Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 An actual, official Wiki? I detest the way people tend to throw "Official" around, so I'd appreciate something pointing at it being official. Well, the news and comments is really just a secondary feature of wikis. Trust me, I've already talked to them about it. I wouldn't have used the word otherwise. Edited September 19, 2012 by Ausir Pillars of Eternity Wiki * The Vault - Fallout Wiki * Wasteland 2 Wiki

People like to throw "Official" around as a buzz-word. Makes me happy to hear. :D
Lexx Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 So will it have real domain and stuff? What if the name changes (because I don't think "Project Eternity" will be the final name)? Are you going to change it then or add another one (because of all links that might have been posted by then)? "only when you no-life you can exist forever, because what does not live cannot die."
Luckmann Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 So will it have real domain and stuff? What if the name changes (because I don't think "Project Eternity" will be the final name)? Are you going to change it then or add another one (because of all links that might have been posted by then)? I would assume that the best way to solve it would be to set up a domain relating to Project Eternity, and then when the real name is revealed, simply set up a new domain and a redirect from the former.
Ausir Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 (edited) That's the plan. For now, we've bought eternitywiki.com. Edited September 19, 2012 by Ausir 2 Pillars of Eternity Wiki * The Vault - Fallout Wiki * Wasteland 2 Wiki
Sammael Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 What sort of help do you need? There are no doors in Jefferson that are "special game locked" doors. There are no characters in that game that you can kill that will result in the game ending prematurely.
Ausir Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 Help with gathering and documenting all the available info on the game we can find from various updates, interviews, dev comments etc. Pillars of Eternity Wiki * The Vault - Fallout Wiki * Wasteland 2 Wiki
Sammael Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 I'm leaving for a vacation soon, but when I get back (early October), you can count me in. There are no doors in Jefferson that are "special game locked" doors. There are no characters in that game that you can kill that will result in the game ending prematurely.
Labadal Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I'd like to help, but what would one need to know? Any programs and fancy stuff like that?
Lexx Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 You need to know the game and the english language. :> "only when you no-life you can exist forever, because what does not live cannot die."
Ausir Posted September 20, 2012 Author Posted September 20, 2012 Or some other language, we'll gladly set up other language versions as well! Pillars of Eternity Wiki * The Vault - Fallout Wiki * Wasteland 2 Wiki
Labadal Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 In that case, I'd be willing to help. I've already pledged my money, why not pledge some of my time?
Ausir Posted September 20, 2012 Author Posted September 20, 2012 The wiki is already set up (although still empty), but it's waiting for the DNS to propagate. Pillars of Eternity Wiki * The Vault - Fallout Wiki * Wasteland 2 Wiki
