I started a new game to bide time till we have a patch or I give up hoping for one (and get the famous Sis locket scene), on recruit. I plan to up Stealth, Sabotage and here do you guys come into play: one weapon skill. So which one should be the chosen one?

The plan is to use stealth to get by enemies or clear a room of mooks and the weapon skill would be mostly against bosses. I was thinking either shotgun (did anyone try Room Sweep on bosses from point blank?) or assault rifles for bosses + far away enemies.

CHOOSE MY DESTINY!

Ed: Oh yeah, my "on hold" build has Pistol already and I want to avoid redundancy and reading the forums it seems SMGs are only good against mobs of..mobs.

So far I would vote AR based on the range and armor penetration advantages, but I haven't really played with the shotgun extensively (especially not against bosses).

Stealth = pistols. Though if i were to have another Tech Spec run (and i might) i'd go for shotties and grenading like crazy. In the end, Tech Spec isn't meant for stealth and most grenades are too loud to aid your sneaking.

AR is pretty good.

First off, if you want to be stealthy, and have some cash, you can loot (and buy, of course) subsonic rounds that work the same way as the silencer does. If you're precise and take time to aim up your shots, you won't waste ammunition.

In boss encounters, just aim for the head, and be cool, take time to aim the shot.

On the downside, you have to keep your distance, or get the enemy stunned, so you have one or two seconds to line up the shot. It was pretty easy on my second playthrough to kill everyone with the good ol' AR.

If you plan to go stealthy, i would go with pistols, if you plan to go with other weapons, you might as well just hold stealth at 5 for awareness master and not bother stealthing.

(did anyone try Room Sweep on bosses from point blank?)

They do a wierd little backflip thing instead of being knocked down. It's still useful though, interrupts them for a second or so.
